Weaving this and that-a-way through the fronds, the young Seathi raced through the dense seaweed. Her small size allowed her to shoot through the tiny gaps many others could not possibly squeeze through, and her lithe frame made all her twisting movements appear graceful as small bubbles of air rose from around her. Doing a quick barrel roll, she shot clear of the seaweed forest and for a brief moment was content to just float on her back, gazing up through the bright water. The sun was strong that day, and the water clear, so sky-gazing beneath the surface was a perfect activity.
As her eyes roved over the flashing waves above, a laugh escaped her mouth. Life was good. The mass of seaweed wasn't far off, but the brightly coloured mare was in open water. Thrills coursed through her. Open to predators, open to others, yet she knew she was faster than them. If anyone tried to catch her, she'd be gone in a poof of bubbles, her small yet powerful tail easily propelling her into the safety of the plants. The predator's jaws would close down on nothing but up-stirred water. She was quick, she was strong, and she knew it. A smug smile covered her mouth. Ah, life underwater was fun.

As a kelpi, Apoletta was able to appreciate both the land and the sea, they each had their own beauties and their own faults, that's what made them unique from one another. But today she had an urge that resided somewhere deep in her soul, the water called!
Apoletta waded in to the ocean at the sandy shoreline and soon found herself immersed in that underwater world, with a swish of her powerful tail she took off, exploring what there was to see this day. She blew bubbles from her nostrils and swam by schools of fish and other larger things that were no threat to her, they scattered at her presence, afterall, some kelpi were just NOT to be trifled with.
She glided along the sandy slope of the ocean floor, weaving in and out of long strands of kelp that stretched all the way to the light up above. her hooves kicked up dust as she slowly and methodically walked along, relaxing and watching the sleepy world of the waters.

Feeling a disturbance in the throngs of kelp, the Seathi looked around. What was shaking her plants? The waves weren't strong enough to move them that much! Looking around, she noticed a pale shape below her. How dare something try to intrude! It was time to make her presence known!
Swimming downwards, she crept closer. Was it a... mer? It certainly resembled one. For a second, her spite was forgotten amongst her curiosity. She'd never seen something like that before. Then her eyes fixated on the pearls wrapped around its tail. Her expression lit up: something shiny!
"Oi! You! Pearl lady! Aren't you supposed to have two legs?" She called out, her attitude completely uncaring. Within her mind, social hierarchy had already been established, and as always, the Seathi was on top.

She started for a second as a faint voice caught her attention, she looked around, thinking perhaps she could have misheard but nope...not her. She blinked owlishly as her eyes met those of a rather tiny fiery seathi! She hadn't seen too many seathi in her time, for she mostly inhabited ponds and lakes, or the seathi just plain stayed away from her, but this one just showed right up!
Apoletta chuckled, a stream of bubbles swirling up to the surface " Pearl Lady" she replied casually, swimming around the seathi with one powerful swish of her tail, tucking in her hooves and circling. " No" she smirked " haven't you ever seen a Kelpi before little one?" She curled her upper lip, flashing fangs " i've seen seathi, but none quiiiite as bright or as sprightly as you...and my name is Apoletta...not..Pearl Lady." She replied casually, the pearls wrapped about her tail shining with movement.
" What should i call you?"

The seathi flipped upside down with one stroke her of tail and observed the stranger. At the bottom of her line of sight was a head, cast in a gray pearl-like color. It had a few dots under the eye. Casting her eyes upwards, Cyllene saw four legs, similar to her own yet much bigger, and a large mer-like tail.
Still floating on her back, the seathi ignored the Kelpi's fangs. This was her territory after all. "No, I haven't." She replied, tilting her head to one side. "How do you breathe underwater? And surely you are not the fastest of swimmers?" Her gaze locked onto the pearls adorning Apoletta's tail again. They were shiny... Pretty...
"You can call me Cyllene," She paused, smirking, "Pearl lady."
