This is one of the four elimination battles between Kyns of the Kyns Battle Tournament. The victor of this battle will be eligible to continued to the semi-finals and later finals. Good luck to both Kyn riders and their Kyns.

Will Kyns, Kyn riders, and spectators take their respective places.

Rules

1. No godmoding
2. No bunnying
3. No killing off your Kyn(s)
4. Please be curteous
5. Please use decent grammer and spelling
6. Please type in IC; OC comments should be in arrow (())
7. You must post your reply within one week that your opponent has posted theirs.

Terrain

This is your basic grass medow. The yellowish-green vegetation was tall, almost up to one's waist; it entended for miles and miles. A giant tree was far off to the right in a distance, appearing to be the sole guardian of the land. With the vegetation so dense, it was had to move; however, it also provided for a nice hiding spot of one was crouching down low enough. Surveying the grass medow, one could perhaps distinguish five black spots in the middle. Apparently, it was a 'bald spot', shall we say, of 100 meters or so and no vegetation grew there.

Your opponent and their Kyn is standing on the otherside of the field, waiting for the battle to begin. A judge stood to the left, whistle in hand. He blows the whistle and yells...

((To keep things straight, for now I will have Ganon type in black and Lorne will type in green.))

Ganon grinned and took to the air immediately, soaring high above the battlefield for a better view. Lorne raised his head and let loose a devastatingly loud roar, then began to move slowly forward. The monstrous kyn was in no rush; he wanted to conserve his energy. The tall grass was crushed underneath him, leaving little canyon-like lines through the meadow.

Later on in the year, aliens would mistake these lines for signs, would land in the meadow and try to interrogate the tree. After several failed attempts, they would kick the tree in frustration, and the Great Spirit inhabiting the tree would awaken and smite them. But that would not be for some time now.

In any case, Ganon kept his eyes on Mararan and Jaswinder, chanting softly in Serpentine. His spear began to glow softly with an orange aura. [1/2, alterative magic]

((The [1/2] is how I denote how many turns it will take for Ganon to complete the spell. For example, Ganon's current spell is fairly simple; he will cause the spear to gain a rubber coating to protect against Jaswinder's lightning. He has chanted one of the two turns it will take to complete the spell.))

((Jaswinder types in gold while Mararan types in dark green. Normally, she would be typing in plain green, but I chose dark to avoid confusion.

Oh, I love your little 'signs' addition. It's cute. XD))

Jaswinder twitched at the huge roar from the giant kyn. The second he began moving forward, she shot down, hiding her small form in the grass. She knew Lorne would be able to find her soon, being as large as he was, and also knew that Ganon would be able to see her from above, but she would take what she could. She started to slink through the grass carefully, buying herself time as she powered a simple lightning bolt. It would be ready soon enough...it wasn't a large spell.

Not knowing what Ganon was doing, and clearly unable to speak serpentine, Mararan reached for an arrow, drew her bow, aimed carefully and let fly her first arrow without another moments hesitation. Whatever he might be doing, perhaps she could distract him, or at least learn what in the world he was planning.

Ganon finished his incantation after a moment and the handle of his spear was covered in thick rubber. [2/2] Now Jaswinder didn't have a big metal object she could target to attack him. He focused back down just in time to dodge the arrow, and he decided to move a bit higher, trying to get above her arrow range. He was now just waiting for a good chance to strike.

Lorne just continued on his thunderous way, tail swishing slowly through the grass. He could see Jas dive, but due to his slight nearsightedness lost track of her as she darted about under the grass. However, he had a simple remedy for not knowing her location: narrow it down. He inhaled deeply, then let rip with a burst of flame that took out a large plot of grass in front of him.

Mararan cursed to herself and decided not to waste any more arrows on such an impossible target. She put the bow around her back and shifted so her arrows wouldnt easily fall out and then picked up her makeshift spear, waiting for Ganon to make a move. She decided to keep him in her sights, and followed his movements with her own all the way down on the ground. If he attempted to attack Jas, she'd be able to intercept him first...unless, of course, he flew over her head...she stiffened at the thought and glanced around for her kyn, hoping to find her so she could stay closer to her.

Jas leaped as Lorne the second he set fire to the grass in front of him. She had been close...almost too close, really, and decided not to wait any longer. Seeing how she couldn't exactly jump very high on her own, she made a pair of lightning wings to carry her high enough to get about as high as his back. The wings disappeared once she was above him, and her small lightning bolt ready, she let it explode from her mouth the second she got close enough to his large, large body.

Lorne roared in pain as the jolt went into his body, but his constitution allowed him to take the blow and continue to fight. He whipped his massive tail up and smashed it down at Jaswinder, flailing it back up should he miss in an attempt to swat her. Should he manage to successfully hit her-- and Ganon had been training him to hit small objects by throwing chickens into the air-- she would probably be sent flying out of control.

Ganon watched the battle closely, then began to move over Mararan. He grinned evilly and dipped down into her arrow range again, this time right above her. He was taunting her. Unless, of course, she was actually stupid enough to fire an arrow straight up.

Mara almost turned when she heard the roar, but kept her eyes on Ganon. Her eyes narrowed as she saw him grin and taunt her. But she knew no matter how close he got, she'd never be able to string an arrow in time. He'd most certianly rise up again. She held her spear tighter, wishing desperately that she was taller.

Lorne needn't have swat more than once. The first hit landed squarely, and indeed the small Jaswinder went flying off. Landing hard in the tall grass quite some distance away, she almost found herself unconcious, but shook it off with all her will power. She couldn't be defeated so soon! She lay in the tall grass for a while, but soon started to lurk around, hiding, again. Close combat wasn't such a good idea, she had learned. Not close to that tail anyway. She was suddenly hit with an idea, and started to charge up her simplest magic...a small light spell, but she held unto it, not letting it go, not just yet. She continued to randomly crawl around in the grass, avoiding any bald patches, and staying as far from Lorne...for now...as possible.

Lorne growled and squinted around, then fired another blast of flame. Nothing. Again. Still nothing. He couldn't tell where she was... damn it! And then a thought occurred to him. Surely, he could get her out of hiding... he turned his head and suddenly expelled a powerful blast of flame right at Mararan. Ganon flew on to avoid the updraft the fire would create, circling around and scanning the tall grass for movement. He was really surprised. Lorne was a terribly powerful creature, and Ganon was reminded of the ancient tales of dragons battling knights and usually annihilating the tin men.

"No!" Jas' head popped from the grass far to Lorne's right side. Realizing her mistake almost immidietely, she ducked back down again, but knew that Lorne would almost certainly be able to make a blast at her with fire again. Shooting herself forward, as fast as her thankfully small body could go, Jas ran directly towards the huge kyn, quite angry by now. She'd have to use her spell soon...perhaps now! Suddenly, now very close to Lorne, the tiny kyn disappeared into the grass again, hidden completely.

Mararan, seeing Ganon take flight in a hurry, turned around quickly to see what the hell was going on...and her eyes widened dramatically. In an attempt to run away, she tripped over herself and fell flat to the ground. Covering her head with her hands, Mara closed her eyes tightly as she felt a hot HOT heat sear right over...and at her. Her body twitched and she rolled over continuously, trying to get away and moving as if her body was not her own any more. It just needed to get away.

Suddenly, Mara noticed that her body had stopped...she had rolled quite a bit...and was now hidden in some of the tall grass. Not too far from the huge bald spot Lorne had created. She looked down at herself to see the harm...and almost fainted. Her clothes were helpless...much of her skin, especially her back, hurt like crazy, and was certainly burnt. Her hands weren't that bad...thank goodness...her head was fine, a bit scratched. The only problem seemed to be her left leg. Dang. That was her strong leg too. It was almost black. It seemed to get the most of the flames. And MAN did she hurt like CRAZY now. Mara wanted to cry. But she knew she had to get away. Looking for her spear, she noticed it had rolled with her...certainly the cause of the scratches to her head. She picked it up and crawled throught the grass as carefully as she could. Her leg caused her to move very slow, but she managed. Mara watched the sky for Ganon. Ever cautious.

((whoa, that was a lot longer than I expected...sorry about that. >.<))

Ganon looked down and looped away. She didn't seem like much of a threat right now, and he could certainly deal with her later. She was badly crippled, and would not be launching any attacks any time soon. He began to push his way through the air back toward Lorne and Jaswinder, hoping he could assist his kyn.

Lorne looked about, slamming his claws into the ground as he sought her, slamming his tail indiscriminately (and inadvertently creating alien punctuation). "I will find you...! You can't hide from me!" It was interesting to see Lorne taking out his anger. Most of it was probably actually built up against InuYasha.

Jaswinder had dove directly underneath the huge kyn, hiding right under his belly, quite literally. She took a second to add a bit more power to her light spell, still holding on to it. She'd only have one shot...for now. Taking a deep breath, the small electric kyn sped out from under Lorne, right in between his front legs, and leapt upward, about as high as the kyn's nose. "Peek a boo." She let go of her light spell, and it flashed brightly directly in front of his face. Claws at the ready, she made quick sweeps at his face at the same time, trying to do as much damage in the seconds she had.

Mara, noticing right away that Ganon had turned his back on her, felt her innards bubble. He was leaving her for lame! OBVIOUSLY...he was right, she snapped back at herself. But his back was to her! She searched desperately for her bow and arrows. They were nearby...but quite a few of the arrows had spilled out or burned. She only had a few now...she threw her body at what she could grab, ignoring the pain as best she could. A tear dripped from her eye as she strung an arrow as fast as she had ever done and let it fly. "HEY!"

The tear blurred her vision, so she wasn't going to be hitting anything important, but she at least shot in the right direction. She prayed...

It would be romantic, of course, if Mararan's arrow flew straight and true, burying itself in Ganon's leg and crippling him badly. It really would, and under other circumstances it would probably happen.

But let's be realistic. She was on the ground, on her side, badly injured, with tears blurring her vision, and he was flying away from her way up in the air. Her arrow missed terribly, arching off several yards to his left and a good way behind him. He just continued on his way, glancing back for a moment to make sure she was okay before sweeping down toward the battling kyn.

Lorne roared in pain as he was caught off-guard. He fortunately closed his eyes when the flash went off, but she had gotten her claws into his nostrils and dug into the soft flesh. Other slashes didn't seem to do much, his scales were so thick, but at least she had made him bleed. He, in response, snapped his jaws wide open and shut right in front of himself, trying to grab Jaswinder in his powerful jaws. It was a stab in the dark (or a snap in the bright), but his jaws are pretty damn big, too. They don't need to be accurate to catch prey.

Mararan cursed colorfully, then fell back down on the ground. There would be no distracting anyone today. Deciding that her leg hurt way too much for it to be legal in any state, (yeah, that made tons of sense.) she took her spear and stabbed it into the ground in front of her, dragging herself across the floor of the grassy area. And one would've thought she gave up by now..."OH COME BACK here! What? Can you not win in a fight against a girl with a burnt off leg?! Darned flying snake..thing!" She was probably just wasting her breath...heck, she KNEW she was. She continued to drag herself, not even knowing where she was off to.

Jas, being small, was also very quick. So when she discovered that Lorne's nose seemed to hurt him most, she focused her attention on that. At the same time, she got her mind ready for a larger spell. She didnt start to power it up just yet, it would take a bit of time to herself...but she knew what she wanted. Lorne snapped at her. And boy were his teeth big...Jas flipped her tail out from under his jaws...barely in time. She was small enough to practically fit her entire body on his nose, so she didnt have much in front of him anymore.

But she knew that she certainly didnt have enough time anymore. Making one last quick slash, Jas bounded on the top of his head and dove from there back into the tall grass, running as far from him as possible as quickly as she could. She had learned that staying close too long would be foolish. She wondered where poor Mara had gone...and sniffed the air as she ran. Good...the human was headed in a direction away from where Lorne and Ganon were...for now. She made a turn, and started for where Mara seemed to be headed.

Unfortunately for Jas, this meant she was running straight toward Ganon. The snakeman's eyesight was rather better than Lorne's, and he could see the movement under the grass. He grinned slowly and folded his wings, dropping like a smart missile toward the worried kyn.

Lorne kept his eye on Ganon and started to make his way in that direction. It was clear that the battle was migrating that way, and Lorne needed to be there in order to help. His footsteps shook the meadow as he thundered along, leaving the canyon-like trail in his wake.
