Gently had never felt quite like this before.
First, she had never been beaten up before. In her life as a theatre goon and a reporter, she rarely had to engage in physical altercations. And because of her small size and happy nature, she was generally well protected and had never really been in a situation where someone might want to hit her, anyway. Or if they wanted to, they never acted on it. In school, she had never fought with anyone. While she had been training with Sassolite, and recently had her first encounters with senshi, none of the fights had gone this badly.
None left her bleeding from her head and from cuts on her body, those slightly burned, near unconscious in an alley. Until this one.
Her ego had been bolstered by her reliance on traps and wit, on gizmos and getting the drop on her foes. She had been confident in her ability to snatch and grab, and run away when she needed to. But this fight... things had gone so far outside anything she could have planned for, it was scary.
Very scary, considering she might have died, if the senshi had decided to do things that way. It looked like he had considered it, she could remember his face. She would have to work harder to keep herself from this kind of a place again.
For now, though, she really had to focus on just trying to wake herself up.

Chase had been out doing what he did best, causing trouble and making a mess. However at this particular moment, after having sent a golf ball flying through a car door window, he was currently doing the second thing he did best. Running away. The reason was simple, he liked causing trouble but he hated getting caught. So there he was focused on running away from the angry lady chasing him. If she had really thought about it, it would have been better to have gotten the cops on him rather than chase him herself.
Of course that just meant it was his lucky day, well partially, because it was so much easier to outrun and avoid one lady than a cop, who probably had his name on record (his father never did appreciate that fact). It didn't take him long to slip out of sight and into an alley successfully avoiding the lady, this time. Of course as he raced down the alley poised and ready to leap behind the dumpster, just in case the lady came this way, he nearly threw himself right onto the unconscious, bleeding girl.
"What the hell?" He exclaimed skidding to a halt and sliding over to her on his knees. "Hey! Hey can you hear me?" He called to her tentatively reaching out a hand and grabbing her wrist trying to find her pulse. When he found it he let out the breath he hadn't know he had been holding.
"Hey," he called softly patting her face in an attempt to arose her. "Wake up."
Maybe today wasn't his lucky day after all.

Gently wasn't even aware that she was dozing, yet she was not quite aware that she was awake, either. She needed that little reminder, an outside touch, to bring her back to awareness, and she looked around in surprise, her eyes opening and focusing on the young man in front of her's face.
She very nearly recoiled to power up, in case he was a threat, but the expression he wore seemed to say he was as safe a person as she might expect to find in an alley, at least. Which was much safer than a senshi.
Anyway, she was in her civilian clothes, and she didn't want to risk giving herself away. Sighing, she lifted a shaking hand to her head, a shudder moving through her.
"I'm okay..." she said softly, "I'm awake... what... where am I?" Play dumb? Check. And anyway, she was a bit confused, after all the running and stumbling, as to where she had ended up. Or even what time it was.

As her eyes fluttered open he found a small smile crossing his lips. Her regaining consciousness was a good sign, it meant that she wasn't too messed up. Though her injuries (were those burns?) seemed pretty bad, and she was still bleeding as far as he could tell, the fact that she was awake was definitely a good sign. "Whoa, whoa," he told her grabbing hold of her shoulders.
"Careful," he said leaning in closer. "What the hell happened to you?" He asked his brow crinkling in concern. Sure he didn't know her but she was in bad shape and with all the bad things going down in Destiny City. He was reminded of the fact that his once easy going city had turned into a nightmare some days.
If it could go wrong it did in Destiny City.
At her question he leaned back and frowned. "I don't really know, not too far from the mall I think?" He had lost track of where he was while he had been running. "Who did this to you?"

She looked at him, ready to lie to him. She bristled thoughtfully and looked at the person who had been kind enough to stop and help her. That was rare, in a city like this, considering everyone was getting attacked all the time. She was surprised he had time to do it, between people like her trying to take his energy and youma being youma.
She smiled thinly.
"I'm fine, thank you," she said slowly, though she felt sick and was still shaking. She was trying not to think about it, since she was in company and didn't want to cry in front of him. Even if she didn't know who he was. Her British accented voice was low, and she looked around out of fear.
Half of it was genuine.
"I was attacked... by one of those... those... terrorist people."
She looked at him, and water lined her soft, sea green eyes in short order. She shook, hugging herself, and wincing in pain because of it. She couldn't help it. It was much easier to act when she actually did feel the things she was amplifying through her 'scene'. Fear. Pain. If she were honest with herself, she would have to admit that she wasn't faking much at all.

Chase wasn't the type of person who would just stop and help a stranger out because it was in his nature, no in most cases he would just keep to himself and act as if nothing had happened. It was normal for people to be attacked, for people to disappear and for others to get mugged. No one could say that Destiny City was a safe place, not anymore. Things had certainly changed since he was a child and sometimes he cursed his inability to do anything about it.
Especially about those damn terrorists.
But in the case of Gently he hadn't even taken a second to think about it. She had been hurt, beaten up badly and, frankly, she was pretty cute. His mother had always taught him to help out a woman, especially if she was pretty.
He snorted at her reply. "Please, you look as fine as fresh roadkill," he shook her head. His expression darkened when she told him her attackers. "Ugh, they're nothing but..." he let himself trail off, clenching his teeth together. His own encounter with one of the 'terrorist' hadn't been pleasant either, not as bad as her but...he had a scar to remind him about it. He planned on getting revenge on that stupid, rainbow throwing freak.
"You probably shouldn't be going anywhere alone then," he stated pulling the scarf of from his neck. "Let me see your arm, we should make sure the bleeding stops," he explained holding out a hand. "Then maybe move somewhere to get you cleaned up and properly bandage," he found himself grinning slightly.
"No offense but blood isn't a fitting accessory for your looks," he said, "though I doubt anyone, even someone as pretty as you could pull it off." Ah, there he went trying to flirt at a terrible time.

Ah good, she had found someone who liked senshi as much as she did. Which wasn't very much, at that particular moment.
"Oh, that's a nice compliment," she said lightly, trying to brush off the talk of her injuries, mostly because she didn't want to think about the fight itself. She winced, touching her head gingerly. There was a small amount of blood drying over her temple, where she had been kicked. She could only hope she didn't have an ugly bruise because of it.
She looked surprised when he made to help her, chuckling at his words.
"Not missing an opportunity to make a good impression, are you? Though, you hardly have to flirt with me for that. A knight in shining armor is hard enough to come by, but one who slings compliments at the same time? Sounds too good to be true, in all honesty."
She winced, then sighed, leaning toward him on instinct as he got closer. Comfort was something she found herself needing, and since he was a source of it she was going to stay close.

He shrugged, "Well I try." There he went trying to make a bad situation seem pretty lighthearted. At this point he didn't care what had happened, because really if those stupid sailor suited terrorists were involved then they probably just attacked her for no reason.
His grin widened at her words and he lifted both eyebrows in a "oh you know" fashion. "Can't help it, it's in my nature really," he replied yanking on the bottom of his scarf and ripping a long, thin piece off of it. He too her arm and wrapped it around the worst part, tying it tightly into a knot.
As she leaned forward he opened his arms to let her lean on him. "Besides, it isn't often that I get to take care of a pretty girl." He ripped another piece of his scarf to tend to her other arm. "We should probably get you somewhere that isn't by a dumpster."

Gently watched him, actually feeling guilty.
"I'm going to have to get you a new scarf... you've torn yours now. And I hardly think bloody strips of scarf will look nice on you." She smiled, appreciating that he was keeping things good humored and light, since she had been so upset about her losing the fight, and the damage she had received.
It was easier to forget the heavy topic and feeling of threat of death when she was making jokes, even half jokes because she did feel bad about his scarf. She nodded her head at his suggestion that they get out from the alley, not wanting to stay there anyway. It was starting to smell, or maybe it had been smelly since the beginning and she hadn't had time to notice. But now that she was calming, it was becoming very obvious.
Gently made to stand, wobbling. She winced, her head throbbing in protest and she remembered she had been cut on the neck and it burned. She leaned on him and on the dumpster, shaking her head.
"I can probably find my way home... I'd rather not go to the hospital. They'll ask questions and I'll have to answer, and I don't really feel like talking about it..." her eyes began to sting again.

He chuckled, shaking his head as he tied the other piece into a knot. "Don't worry about it," he told her holding up what remained of his scarf and waving it around. "It's just a scarf, I've got plenty." Scarves were cheap and they were a part of his school uniform, and his daily outfits so he had plenty. "One for every day of the year, including the days missed by leap year," he joked.
The lighthearted conversation made it easier for the boy to forget that she had been beaten up or that he had, up until recently, been chased by any angry woman out to get him for breaking her window. Even still it was hard to miss the dried blood that stained her face.
As she rose, so did he. He stood ever so slowly, arms outstretched with his hands ready to catch her if she started to fall. Chase Black was certainly a troublemaker but he was always so charming to women. "Careful," he murmured looping his arm around her waist while his free hand grabbed her wrist and draped her arm around his shoulder.
"Hospitals are unnecessary," he retorted wrinkling his nose at the thought of one. He avoided them as much as possible, only going when it was absolutely necessary (like that time he broke his arm). "We'll go where ever you want, but I'm making sure you get taken care of."

Gently leaned on him as he helped her, feeling rather woozy as she did so. Her head was the most problematic thing at the moment, and she was still seeing some small stars. She just wanted to go home and take a nap, watch some movies. Relax. Nothing more stressful than putting a cup of milk in the microwave to worry about.
That would be very nice.
"Thank you," she said numbly, watching him for a moment before looking toward the street. They were going to look a little silly, hobbling along, with her draped on him as she was, but she didn't really mind looking silly. Attention never bothered her, and if anyone came up to them, they would just have to make something up. Another exercise in improv.
She led him by directing him softly, quickly figuring out where she was and how to get back to her house. It was where she wanted to go, after all. It was a few blocks away, however, and she felt bad for making him walk.
"I could probably get there on my own... I'm feeling better now, and I don't want to drag you half way across town..." she looked at him guiltily, which just made her look pitiful.

"It's my pleasure," he replied giving her one of his most charming smiles. He was a complex individual and this wasn't something most of his friends would see him doing. He had always been regarded as the attention-seeking, sore-loser trouble maker who loved to pull pranks and avoid capture. There weren't many people that saw the softer, caring side of him and those that did were often women.
For all the s**t he pulled he always had an abundance of friends and those that wanted to be friends with him. Chase Black was a charismatic individual and he was a people pleaser as well. He was good at playing the part he thought people wanted to see, when he felt like it. Around women it was almost always what he did.
He was as charming as he wanted to be, most of the time.
"No," he stated firmly pressing his lips together at her suggestion. "I'm not letting you wander around alone after what happened." He still didn't know what really happened, but it wasn't important at that moment. He pulled away a bit to see if she really could walk on her own.
"Besides, I'm not busy, I don't mind."

Gently smiled and shook her head, finding him silly. She thought he was just putting it on to be the knight in shining armor for her, which she didn't mind one bit. Usually, she was very out going and would eagerly return his playful attitude, but she found with her headache and how shaky she felt it was difficult to be her normal self.
She really did just want to curl up on the couch and not move for a while.
"Well, that's very kind of you. You're a sweet young man," she said, her face slightly red. When he moved away from her she felt like it was a test, and she needed to do well in order to prove that she could, as she had insisted, walk home on her own. She stood well enough on her own, taking a breath of releif.
Walking required some forward momentum, however, and she tried.
And stumbled a bit.
"Oop. Got used to leaning on you, I think," she laughed, at least, amused more than upset now.

"I do my best," he replied shrugging his shoulders and shoving his hands in his pockets as he watched her stand easily enough. Still, he wasn't convinced and as she took a step forward, well her stumbling was enough for him to step forward and offer his arm to her once more.
It had become a situation where Chase wasn't sure if he wanted to leave well enough alone, she seemed to be standing fine, or if he should insist that he help her home. He still wasn't convinced that she was okay because she certainly didn't look it and currently, at times like this in DC, there were more than a few individuals who would love to take advantage of a wounded girl's poor state.
"I still want to make sure you get home safe," he revealed running a hand through his colored hair. "Can't have you disappearing," he teased trying to keep the conversation light so she wouldn't seem so down again. "My mother would reprimand me if I let a lady like yourself walk home alone."

Gently eyed him teasingly and then laughed, leaning on him again. She was feeling much better, in the sense that her attitude was improving. She wasn't experiencing the shaking and fear she had when she was sitting alone in that alley, and the idea of death had wandered off quite a distance from her conscious mind.
She leaned on him, shaking her head.
"A lady like me, hmm? Your mum's taught you well, I think." She shook her head, reaching to ruffle his hair and then planted a surprise kiss on his cheek.
"Thank you for being so kind. I'm feeling so much better now, you've no idea. You were an angel to stop and help me, really." She smiled, patting his arm since he had offered it to her when she wobbled. "If you want to make sure I get into the house, that's fine, but I promise I can make it."
She walked slowly, leading him toward her home, which she would be very glad to see the inside of.
