OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD
MINECRAFT IS heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart

I got it when it was in alpha so I've seen the game grow into Beta and all the changes. biggrin Heck I was playing it before Survival came about properly, when the survival mode was you, no tools, no crafting, no inventory, just 20 arrows and your fists, and the ability to dig anything with your hands, but you could do nothing with any of it. where killing monsters gave you points, and where skeletons and zombies wandered in the day, and where Creepers exploded when they died and dropped nothing.

and where sheep and pigs both dropped mushrooms instead.

and red mushrooms hurt you, but brown mushrooms healed you.

and where multiplayer was creative mode instead where you could place and dig any block in an instant, and there were clients that allowed you to fly to build awesome structures, and where griefing was rampant.

I bought it about four months before it went beta. I am trying to start up a server from the shop but it doesn't like Win7 for some reason =(

I've spent many, many, many hours on a couple of worlds, one that now has a giant castle with everything you could possibly need provided in it and a ton of work yet to be done, and another with a ridiculous mine system spanning such a vast distance that the world takes up almost 50mb. x3

So I downloaded MCEdit so I could easily create a floating island.

As it turns out, it ended up looking kinda cool. I will now move on to create all kinds of other things. biggrin
then maybe set it up on a server. biggrin

I should really do that some time.
We got our shop server up and running and everyone here's been building various things. I built an entire room out of obsidian, because some of my friends like the TnT and the creeper-baiting -_-;

There are so many cool things you can do in Minecraft. I feel like a kid again, playing with my Lego xD

Let me tell you the tale of Lycan's experience in Minecraft....

Day 1: Oh hai. This place looks pretty cool.
*Sun falls, zombies come out*
ZOMG ZOMBIES!!!
*Digs a hole in the ground and covers the top*
*Wonders how long it's been*
*Decides to make the hole bigger so it's comfy*
???
*now has an underground lair with a chimney that leads to a sky bridge and a sky castle*

I love watching the various videos, though some part of me dislikes the infinite resources mode. I created a giant castle with a cross continental bridge made of cobblestone and glass WITH MY FISTS.

Also: I love just wandering around with the biomes. For a game completely made of squares, the landscape is quite beautiful. I remember starting in a snowy area and walking all the way to the rolling sandy hills of a gorgeous desert. I intent to build a highway to that as soon as my sandstone and snow golems outside my castle are complete.

<<.....>>.... What? Who's obsessed? Not me!

See that's how it gets you.

My experiences were pretty much ;

"Okay, so, hey, there's all these blocks, and uh, I can punch things, and... I heard you could craft? but... I'm really not sure how?... um... ... crap... craaaap I can make planks but that's about it what the hell now? How do I make tools? Oh damn it's getting dark. Now I can't see. How am I meant to make torches? I don't get th-WHATWASTHATSOUNDOHGODOHGODOHGOD"

followed by running around, punching zombies and spiders and getting shot by skeletons and then finally being blown up by a creeper. For a moment I stood there, eyes wide, pulse racing. Then I kind of whimpered, turned the game off, and looked up the guide on crafting.

Armed with that knowledge I punched the hell out of a tree, made sticks, armed myself with wooden tools, and rapidly made myself a neat little fort with a door made of dirt, mined some stone to make stone tools, expanded my little hovel of a house in the dead of night without getting attacked by monsters too much, found coal, made torches to light my night up, then when day came I wandered and found caves to get iron and found a whole motherlode.

My tools and armour upgraded, I quested long into thenight, hunting monsters in a quest of vengeance, finding the most effective way to deal with Creepers, getting string so I could make a bow, and then making tons of arrows so I could fight spiders and skeletons safely, using my sword only for creepers and Zombies, where I knew I was (relatively) safe, and didn't need entirely to waste ammunition. I also made a boat, expanded my house, made a bedroom, added more floors, added a zen garden, glass windows, pictures and so on. I even had a brilliant farm, and several massive spires all around the huge island to act as navigation waypoints (which I could also dive off into the water. SO much fun! biggrin )

And then I found gold, and diamond. I found a lot of diamond. I found a lot of gold too. Finally I was reachign the endgame. I mined the hell out of that diamond and gold, and was on my way back.

When I found lava. :<

I lost everything I was carrying. All the 36 diamonds, the three stacks of iron I was carrying, the tons of food, all the iron tools and armour, the whole stack and a half of gold... Everything.

...

I deleted my world and started over. That time I couldn't even find coal no matter how hard I searched. It was a darker, grittier, harsher world where I had to scavenge arrows from skeletons which I had to beat to death with my stone sword, where I had to use leather armour from sheep's wool, and where I had to fight every day just to survive...

But I made a great beachfront house on wooden stilts, and had a lovely, beautiful comfortable home, with some hilarious cactus traps.

Then some Alpha updates came out and the game got even better... I couldn't stop playing. Each time I died horribly and lost all my stuff I restarted because I couldn't feasably go through collecting all that material all over again. Sometimes I persisted when I didn't lose too much but in the end I was forced to restart entirely anyway at several points to get the new items that came out and to finally have biomes.

My previous world had a druid circle, with a lava sigil in the ground, and underground mine working, a wizard's tower for my home, with a garden, some farmland off to the east, a Well, and a small floating island above a pond.

My current world, for the beta as it is now?

Well, I'm struggling a but but by god I have found a ton of iron. 32 blocks of iron ore exactly. biggrin All in one trip into some caves!

Also goddamn I hate spiders more than ever now. I hate them so much.

I had watched that "first day in minecraft" video on Youtube before I had my first day, so I had a decent idea of what I was doing.

I started my first world (before biomes), built a little outpost type deal in a cliff near my spawn point, and started mining.

Eight chests of materials later, I started building. I wanted a castle. I wanted it to be fancy so I made smooth stone. I built a fairly large, very tall castle, then realized smelting stone was a waste of time and my castle looked like a giant stupid box. And I died in lava. All at once.

So on to new worlds. Started a bunch, settled on one with a big lake and forest. Built a HUGE castle with several giant towers (two going above the clouds) and a big pile of other things. Worked out redstone for my doors and things. I even have a secret entrance that plays the LoZ "secret" sound =D

And then we got multiplayer up and running at the shop.
SO MUCH STUFF being built on our server. Currently, of the ~20 people we have that play, about 10 have giant monuments to their greatness, ranging from a complete, 1-1 scale replica of World 1-1 from SMB, to a 30-brick-high pyramid topped with around 35 gold blocks.

So much to build, so little time. Recently I've been kind of hoping for a faster way to fill large areas with blocks/clear large portions of land. Starting to find that a tiny bit tedious.

That's half the deal with Minecraft beta though. Tkaing the time to gather shittons of stuff, so you can build shittons of stuff. :3
