((PRP between Hayagriva and Felina!))

Even in the chill of winter a sheen of sweat covered Haya. His breath still heaved in and out from recent exertion and he could see it puffing out into the cold air. He had just finished another self-defense lesson and his students had been excessively energetic. Haya wondered whether their burst of enthusiasm was simply a result of having little else to do in the winter months. Maybe the boredom had simply overcome them.
He walked now away from their practicing spot. He needed to stretch himself out a little before the cold seeped back into his muscles. It felt good to walk after all the jumping around. He could even call this a patrol. There hadn't been even a whisper of danger lately so he didn't expect to turn up anything. Apparently kalonas and wolves slowed down in the winter too. The occasional deep snowfall had probably helped too.
For now he was alone and assumed that it would stay that way. If anyone was in the immediate area, he did not smell or sense them.

Felina was doing her 'duty', Sengdroma -an alpha although she had only appeared to be a slight thing- had requested her services in tracking down the two pures that had attacked their herd. But Felina had found little sign that they were still in the area.... she had been about to leave, follow the dull trail away from these lands when colour through the trees had caught her attention. She inched closer. What she saw made her curious enough to stay, a group of beautiful coloured soquili, of different kinds jumping and training. She had watched for a long time, patient and silent as always, hidden by her skills of evasion... in this case she had rubbed herself against bark and fruit in an effort to obtain their scent for a while. And so she watched..... Yet after the watching, after the group had divided in a storm of laughter and joking she found herself wondering... could she do what she had seen? Felina had never really been shown anything in person, only picking up skills by fumbling through them in the thick of things or by easedropping like she had now. Her looks put most off, placed her in a catagory to be feared although they knew nothing about her. In all her days she had only injured and killed skinwalker with the intent to do so. She growled, a low but frustrated sound as she struck a near by tree with her front hooves. She hadn't expected anything to happen.... but, be it due to the winter or something else, the tree decided to topple over with her hit. She stood wide eyed for a long moment, simply staring at it. Her ears rang with the echoing sound of crashing and shattering wood. Earth sprayed up from the impact to dirty her face and pelt. What had she done?

Haya's ears jerked upward and he turned immediately toward the crashing sound. The sound of the tearing and breaking of wood was evident and even after the initial burst of noise was over the echos still rang in the air. The only thing that could have caused such an uproar was a tree falling, but it was a strange time for that to happen. There was no ice on the branches to pull a weak tree down and he doubted that the beavers were too busy during this season. What could have caused it?
What had started out as a leisurely stroll was now business. His pace increased to a swift trot and he was off. He took in his surroundings as he ran. If there was something dangerous lurking around it would be important to spot it before it had the chance to get the drop on him. Anything colorful would stand out starkly among the muted shades of winter, but a predator garbed in white and gray could blend more easily.
He had been close to the source of the sound to begin with and quickly drew even nearer. He squinted between the trees. A glint of sunlight caught on something blue. He aimed himself toward that and bellowed a warning. "Whoever you are... show yourself!"

Felina found herself in a moment of indecision..... it was rare that she ever volentarily accepted the company of another who she was not hunting, yet the command in the voice had given her pause. So much so she was positive that if she ran she would be followed. She hesitated, her only seeing eye looking towards the voice..... the golden stallion, the one who had been instructing the others was gaining ground towards her. The fact that his tail was the same as hers, but that he lacked the scales, horns and wings intregued her.... and scared her at the same time. She didn't know what he was, knew little about breeds, and as far as she was concerned she was a pure Kalona for she knew no different.
She turned, scanned the area quickly with her good eye. She knew her colouring would give her away, knew that he would likely know the forest better...... and so she stilled herself, deciding to act as a wounded lion -ready to pounce if needed. She could not fly, her wings forfitted to save her life years ago.
Felina gulped, turned and held her ground.... not speaking, quietly breathing and her eyes watching. Would he run from her like so many had in the past? Or stand his ground? He was not her enermy.... her enermy wore pelts to hide themselves and trick the foolish. He was not yet tainted.

There was no answer. Haya's eyes narrowed in suspicion. He could still see a glimpse of the stranger so knew whatever it was it hadn't run off. That was troubling. The other soquili didn't want to let itself be known but didn't want to flee either. That meant that it could be dangerous, and it was confident about it too.
He continued forward but slowed his approach. The stranger might not be alone. His ears swiveled from one side to the other and he strained to hear a potential ambush. Nothing. So far it seemed like the soquili was alone.
Suddenly the way became clearer and he could see the other soquili better. Wings! Horns! A barbed tail! She was a kalona. Something glittered again and Haya realized that what had been catching his eye was sunlight glinting off of blue and red scales that covered her back. She was part kirin? Kirin were a gentle breed and kalona a dangerous one. She had obviously been causing the racket so he assumed that she was more on the dangerous side of the personality spectrum.
As soon as they were within full sight of each other he stopped. He drew his head up and let his mane billow softly around him. It was evident that he was an elder, and equally evident that he meant business. "Are you aware that there is a herd nearby?" he asked in stern tones. "You are encroaching on the territory of the Padmapani herd. We welcome travelers... so long as they mean no harm to us or those that we share these lands with."

Felina stood still, her delicate kirin features ruined by the addition of horns, scars and a blind eye. But still she helpd her ground, she may not be able to see as well as she once had but that was just another sign that she was a surviver.... that not only Angenis could go against the skinwalker beasts and live. She had done it, many times, and even wore boots made from the first ever one she had slayed.
She wasn't a mare of many words, never having the opportunity for small talk or pleasentry often.... mainly because she avoided such things. She was a killer, she knew she was unstable sometimes, but she didn't want to hurt an innocent, an untainted. As the stranger approached she watched him take in all of her features.... and like so many before him come to an aggressive solution. She was kalona and therefore deadly and dangerous. Felina supposed it wasn't as if that thought wasn't true..... but she had a focus for her anger and aggression, riddled with her need for revenge over her mothers death. Since then Felina had been alone. Self-taught.
The stranger spoke, and Felinas ears flickered, it wasn't an unpleasant voice..... so different from the vemon laced voices of those who mock her before she ended their life. He spoke of a herd, and she was about to nod -she knew the Miakoda herd was closer but he said another word, one she did not know. Padmapani? Had she travelled further than she realised in her quest to hunt down the Miakoda attackers?
She was stunned, and wasn't sure if she should say something or not, her social awkwardness obvious. However after a quick assessment she decided that it would be best to say something.... anything.... after all this stallion, far larger than any she had ever seen -she knew nothing of elders- made it clear he would attack her with an added strength she did not possess should she not. She growled at that, disliking the feeling of being someones prey, even for a little while.
Still, with a quick sign she looked the stallion in the eye, adjusted her wings to fold at her sides to show she meant no harm and spoke, her voice a little raw at first from lack of use but ending up sounding almost lovely, "I.... thought this was Miakoda land?" She looked around, wondering if there was a territory divide she had missed. Perhaps it was a scent trail or something? But she had been so stuck on her task as always to pay attention. Returning her gaze she continued, "I mean no harm to you. Just the tainted."

Miakoda land? She wasn't a member of the Miakoda herd, was she? Haya quickly ran through the herd members in his mind. He didn't know all of their names but he certainly would have noticed if there had been a kalona crossbreed among them. Was she very new to their herd? Even that was a strange notion. It wasn't often that strangers settled into a new herd at random.
He looked at her scars and wondered what had given them. Some fight with a mountain lion? Or maybe something even darker than that...
For now he kept his distance. There was nothing less wary in the way that he watched her. "Who are the 'tainted?" he asked. For all he knew, she might consider angeni blood to be tainted. "And what business do you have with the Miakoda herd?"

More questions, she throught and her heart sank in her chest, she really didn't know what to do or say. And to say that this stallion was intimidating was an understatement. Part of her could almost feel his purity from here, in a way that calmed her, she didn't believe he would attack her unless she gave him reason to -of course she didn't know what he may take as reason either. A soft annoyed growled left her lips and she looked away from him.... desperate for a moments solitiude, for the comfort that came in observing and being alone.
She saw a dragonfly, its many wings flapping and bashing together to create the softest of hums. Curious creatures. It was just enough to clear her mind, to make her feel more comfortable.
Without turning back to the stranger she spoke, ignoring part of his question...... her business with the Miakoda herd was her own, she saw no reason to share that information especially to someone of a different herd. She may not know much about social situations but she knew that much. People generally protected what they loved, her own mother had died to protect her, and because of that she was sure the Miakoda herd would not wish anyone to know of their current weakened state..... perhaps they would be attacked? Forced out of the land they had protected from the tainted skinwalkers only to be forced out by another. No, Felina would play no part in that if she could help it. However she was happy to talk of the tainted, it was her purpose in life, she drew strength from it and always would. As she spoke a slight snarl formed on her lips and her tail moved side to side showing him the spikes that resided on the top of it. "The tainted are those who have corrupted their souls by becoming a skinwalker and those that were born to such a disgusting exsistance." Only then did she look at him, one eye blank and empty while the other was blue and focused on the stallion. It was then she saw his tail..... it was.... like hers? Her throat hung open slightly in disbelief. "You are a Kalona." She said, a statement to herself rather than a question. He saw no wings on him, just the tail..... but that didn't mean he was any less of a threat. Her stance changed ever so slightly, ready to protect herself. Although Felina did not hunt Kalonas she had been attacked by some in the past, her lack of flight making her an easy target. She had never harmed one, always disabled them and walked away.... at least they had their life? Still, she felt that he was good... strong.... an elder. A leader. And that called to her, called to the quiet and alone child she had once been that was begging for protection and family, called to the hunter who longed to end her eternal quest for justice..... called to all of her.
