Sophia stared at the small pile of bodily tissues at her feet. It was barely perceptible as having once been an animal, except for the steaming puddle of blood and the tiny bits of brownish hair poking out here and there like a sickened porcupine. It was a grotesque sight, or at least should have been. To her, it was a piece of art. A job well done. And it was interesting, the way the tissues steamed in the early morning cool and the way the blood darkened each coming minute. It was as if she was mystified, staring at the torn creature.
One would not think that a creature such as herself had completed such a horror.
Her head lifted, soft curls bouncing around her face. She wondered what her brother was doing today, and decided to visit him later in the evening. Perhaps he was with Ignis--the adpptive father had been so kind to them all their life, despite the strange urges that the children started to develop with age. Despite her devious actions toward other creatures, she felt nothing but warmth for the strong Angeni.
She stared off into the trees, wandering what else the day would bring. Would she feel more urges? She had no idea... but didn't mind either way. She liked them.

Chemosh was hunting this morning, it was part of an early routine for the young male. He had decided early on in life that if he was going to rule he had to have a set schedule to go about it. He had already feasted upon a small hare and some unsuspecting doves he had found poking around the new grass. Soon Spring would come and he would have even MORE tasty things to hunt, a sharp smile stretched upon his snaky face. Joy.
He was just cleaning himself of the remaining dove feathers (cleanliness is key you know) when he caught the whiff of...death. It was something a hunter got used to, this smell, but this time it was different. It was mixed in with some sort of , perfume. Not actual perfume, like what the two leggers seemed to wear to attract mates, no no, this was....distinctly female.
He swished his shadowy tail eagerly and stalked towards the smells, drawn to them like a magnet, his long pink tongue flicking between his long fangs, scenting. He fond an appropriate shadowy patch upon a hill where below, the scent was nearly overwhelming and peered over the edge, his eyes tiny slits of ivory.
A mare INDEED! he fought the urge to make himself known then and there, but he was, for all his frippery, a crafty stallion and stayed put, examining the situation first. The mare was beautiful in a...deadly sort of way as he noticed a few things most casual glances would have missed. Firstly, her latest art piece used to be alive, he admired the work, while he wasn't particularly fond with playing with his food, to each their own. He then continued to notice the blood around her mouth and hooves, the torn finery, the strange expression on her face.
His interests were CERTAINLY stirred! His long smile widened even further, it seemed like this day would not be without amusement AFTERALL.

Sophia had almost decided to fly away when a darker scent hit her sensitive nose. Her delicate eyelashes fluttered as her eyes narrowed, and she lifted her bloody muzzle to the wind to better smell the scent. It was strange, bold, and obviously male. Yet something seemed slightly acidic about it, as if there was a hint of poison behind the initial pleasing aroma.
Despite her interest, the fact that some male was near, and perhaps even watching her, made her fall into a small rage that set her cheekbones aflame. She gritted her teeth together as she surveyed the land around her--woods to one side, opened fields and hills to the other. One particular uprise directly behind her could be an ideal perch, if one were sly enough to conceal themselves. She lifted her head toward that spot, and the scent increased tenfold. Not to mention, there was a tiny, almost shadow-like patch of black that peeked above the grass line and just as quickly disappeared.
Her anger heightened, and she ignored the small sense of caution that popped into the back of her mind.
She flapped her wings hard, rising into the air gracefully and flitting over to the spot atop the hill. She landed without so much as a jolt, her hair falling perfectly back into place. She was not surprised to find a black stallion behind the topmost point, looking straight at her. However, she had to admit that his appearance was a bit irking--he had beautiful features, but his eyes were abnormally large and milky white, and his tail... well, she wasn't quite sure what it was. It made her think of a cross between shadow and sludge... was such a thing possible?
But she did not let her surprise show. In fact, she was only intrigued by this occurrence, and it only heightened the boiling of her blood. Perhaps she could not fight as a warrior did, but she had her talents, and weakness wasn't one of them.
"What a revolting sight to find on such a morning..." she half-murmured, half-spat as she glared at the spy.

He had been watching her closely, but perhaps not closely enough! He swiftly decided he had underestimated the delicate looking mare as soon as she sensed him, and even moreso when she, despite all natural causes of fight or flight, flew up to where he was. He turned to greet her,his lip curled into a crookedly charming grin, flashing a maw far larger than normal. Oh yes, she was a pretty one for sure, and interesting, he had no doubt about that, or that she would surprise him even further.
He could tell she was inspecting him, which was almost enough for him to guess that behind her icy glare and set jaw, that she had felt SOMETHING she wasn't showing. That was fine, he knew how to play that game as well, he may be a terrible charmer, but above all things he was intelligent and very very carefully, he would tip toe the lines between the two.
" Well" he murmured " that issssn't very nice" He chuckled darkly, his shadowy tail swishing slowly behind him, unhurried, not in the least perturbed by her show of anger. " I would lavish complimentsss upon a ssssight sssuch as you in the morning, but i have a feeling you would not accept them, am i right?" He grinned roguishly again "but then again~ morningsss aren't very nice to anyonesss...appearances"
He nodded his head in mock politeness " my name isss Chemosh, by the way~ and what may i call youuuu?"

Sophia bristled as he brushed the insult off--yes, even she agreed that it had fallen short of any emotional damage, but still, he shouldn't be smiling. One side of her mouth lifted in distaste, and her ears twitched in irritation.
"Very right, you are," she hissed, holding her head up in defiance. She had had many suitors, foolish young males, try to woo her since her completion of adulthood. None had so much as interested her, even less flattered her. She knew she was beautiful, and didn't need some hormone-driven young blighter telling her so. A good number of males had left running with gashes in their flanks from her lovely set of teeth.
Her eyebrow lifted at his speech. What was wrong with his words? Did he have a lisp or something? It was terribly annoying, kind of like trying to listen to a flamboyant snake. It was also then that she noticed his fangs. Strange they were, indeed, for they were not like a Kalona's fangs. The shorter and larger Kalona fangs were meant for tearing and ripping--these were longer and more delicate, as if not meant to wound, but to efficiently puncture and reach deep within the skin. An involuntary shiver ran through her, though not exactly of fear. She had to admit, she was intrigued. But still mad.
"You really ought to work on your speech, stallion. Someone might think you're biting your tongue every other word." She wrinkled her nose at him, but decided to oblige his requests. Even if she cared naught for him and would chase him off at the next possible instant, it was fair that he knew her name.
Perhaps it would spread her beautiful and deadly reputation.
"My name is Sophia Rose, stallion. But know that every time you speak it will earn you another drop of blood from your hide." Yes, she would be violent with him. She was quite quick, with both words and her teeth. Perhaps he would finally realize that she was no delicate mare eager to flirt with stallions. She was a monster in her own right, though she like to think of herself as more of a beautiful predator--like a panther, perhaps. Or a colorful spider. The species of which females ate their mates... yes, she liked the thought of that.

Chemosh watched in smug satisfaction as she visibly became far more... agitated. He never lost is Glasgow grin, perhaps because he never really could, but this was just too amusing for him to pass up, so it only got wider and toothier. This girl acted like a princess, she sure looked like one but from everything he had picked out earlier plus the attitude? it just made the deal even sweeter for him, who would suspect such a pretty thing of bloodying poor animals and the fiery temper he was observing now? Exactly.
"Oh" he stated flicking his tail as if in boredom " well i'm glad to be right your highnessss" he smirked " do you alwayssss act like thisss when you get complimentsss from ssstrangersss? ssseems like a wassste to me~"
He laughed, his mouth open to reveal his enlarged maw of glittering fangs " Ohhhh~ you crack me up princessss" He narrowed his milky white eyes at her, for direction was the only way you could tell he was even looking at someone, and smirked yet again. "We can play thisss game all day, i do it all the time~ one insssult, then another~ it'sss a great game of witsss, but you and i know, that you're sssmart enough to know why i .....lisssp."
His long fangs glittered with wetness, out of most of his strange family, he was more aligned to snakes than anything else, even when soaked in the shadows. " Haha~ Sssophia Rossse~ what a...lovely becoming name." He purred, sliding over a bit through the shadows around them on l lest she actually came for him, but he figured she would be much too smart to come at him directly, for like a snake in the grass, he had his deadly fangsl always at the ready and even if she was quick, so was he. It would be a pity to kill such a beautiful creature.
He watched many colorful expressions dance over her face, this was interesting to him as well. " you're trying to be tough with me i ssseee~ well that'sss fine~" he sighed as if it pained him " normally mossst maresss dont give me sssuch...trouble~" he looked up then, his eyes glittered with an internal light " but mossst maress are jussst too boring to deal with anyway. You already know you're not."
He swished his shadowy tail back and forth, like an eager cat " we're both predatorsss in our own right ~ jusst the beautiful kind" he smirked, she was young and new at this, but as she grew older she would most likely become quite a bit MORE interesting...how lovely.

Her own lips raised in an un-lady-like snarl as he murmured her name, her wings fluttered in agitation. How dare he say it like that? As if he savoring it, like someone would savor every piece and last drop of juice from a ripe apple. He had no right to say it like that, had no right to say it at all. He very brashness of his attitude made her want to strike out then and there, using her teeth to tear a good strip of meat from his haunches, perhaps, or that lovely, flawless neck of his...
But it was that tiny voice in her head that held her back. No... it whispered, caressing her mind with it's softness. Look... And she did look, to where his overly large maw had opened in an unnerving smile, revealing more of those thin, long teeth. They seemed to glisten of their own accord, not from saliva or light, but from something... else. She gave a frustrated hiss, but stepped back anyway, knowing that he too would fight back with whatever dark secrets he held.
Her ears flattened when he seemed unaffected by her threats, though at least he had moved away. She couldn't fight this anger much longer... but could she risk a lunge at him? The little voice in her head kept warding her off, away from those fangs of his. But perhaps she could be quick enough?
"Many have thought me interesting, you know. But that all stopped when they realized who I really am. I play no games, and am not here to simply entertain you!" she spat, eyes narrowing. "I am much more than you, Chemossssssh." She accentuated the name, intentionally making fun of his strange style of speaking.
She couldn't help what came next. It sometimes happened like this, as if her body acted on its own will. It was just the way the urges happened. And she couldn't hold it back--she hated the way this stallion made her feel. Anger, like fire in her chest, and yet a strange feeling... as if his words actually DID flatter her. But that would not last for long.
She lunged, teeth aimed for his haunches.

He watched her, now highly amused, oh she was a firecracker on hooves. All snarls and bouncing white curls, besides, he knew he was baiting her, there were several ways to woo mares, and this was one of the more hazardous ones. At this point he wasn't as interested in her as much as the range of expressions he was getting from her, if she hadn't been so serious he would have found it laughable. But it had been a loooong time since he had found someone this good looking to amuse him this much, it had also been a long time since a mare so blatantly rejected his...advances. He grinned crookedly, fate was a cruel mistress, but a woman none the less. He had made a vow that upon entering adulthood, he would not look for or dally with boring weak mares, and this one was faaaaar from that.
He chuckled at her comment and even winced a bit at her mockery of his snake like lisp. " Oh you're interesssting for sssure princessss, as for who you are~" he wrinkled his nose and stood his ground a handful of feet away from her in the deep shadow of a tree, his eyes fairly glowing. " If they can't deal with it, they're too boring for you...isssn't that right?" He smirked sharply " You could have left you know, been bored with me, not waassssted your anger...and yet here you are~ what doessss that sssay...princesssss? ARE you more than me?"
He goaded her, toyed with her, gave her silly nicknames, after all~ she HAD forbidden he speak her name under some pain...he would have not cared really, but they were playing this game, for good or bad.
He not only saw something snap, he felt it, like a cold chill running down his spine he watched her simply NOT CARE about what happened as she lunged at him, her pearly white teeth aimed right for some likely sensitive place. He hissed loudly, like a cobra ready to strike but he paused, and the slight hesitation to act got him a painful bite for it!
He shook her off and slipped quickly through the ring of shadows around, making a decent distance between them, but the damage was done, a delicate set of teeth marks set in his ebony skin. He wrinkled his nose at her, his eyes narrowed to dangerous slits but despite the sharp pain, a grin crept treacherously back onto his lips. " love bitessssss ey? i would grace you with the ssaaaame offer but...i doubt you'd live long enough to appreciate it princesssss..." He hissed through the pain, it wasn't a large wound, nor did it even bleed that much...but she had CERTAINLY surprised him, and for Chemosh...that was a first. He would do to watch her more carefully...

Sophia smirked in satisfaction as her teeth sank into his flank, but the point of which she had struck and the fact that Chemosh had twisted away a bit kept her from pulling any skin from his body. In fact, the wound was small, but the taste of his blood lingered on her tongue and she was content. The urge subsided, and she was able to think clearly again, if not still angrily. However, her fiery ferocity had lessened, and in it's place was a sort of perturbed agitation, weighted with tiredness. It was always this way--after her urges, and after fights, the eminent boiling of bloodlust disappeared, leaving a kind of content quiet in her chest. Almost as if she had a need to nap.
She watched as he backed into the shadows, but made no move to follow. He hadn't tried to bite her back, and she doubted she could push her luck.
His next words picked at her anger once again, but she no longer felt the need to spit at him like an enraged cat. No matter how annoying he was, or how much he angered her, she knew that he was only trying to aggravate her and decided that her previous actions had only been entertaining him. Besides, the new pain in his rump would keep his thoughts occupied, if only for a short time.
He ignored her new nickname, instead pouring false honey into her voice, fluttering her eyelashes like a fool. "You wish they were," she murmured, then gave a feral grin. "But no stallion will ever have my love. I will not fall to the whims of a male, for I stand much higher." She gave a little "humph", swishing her long tale and holding her head high.
But then curiosity poked at her. "Not live long enough? What do you mean...?" Her eyes narrowed, and her wings twitched at her sides. Sneaky little snake he was, skulking in the shadows like a coward. That only increased her satisfaction.

He watched her roll the meager amount of blood she had gotten off of him on her tongue, like some sort of candy...or drug, it seemed to instantly calm her down. Which was good and highly, unusual~ even for him.
He watched her through narrowed eyes, but calmly, the bite on his haunch barely bothered him, but something about her now really was, he didn't mind the "higher than thou" attitude she seemed to sport or her play at being cute. But he DID mind the unusual calm that she was in, hmmmm, it was worth further investigation.
His lips curled back into his normal snarky grin " why Princesss, you wound me, and quite litterally may i add! But no matter, it'ssss actually a pitty, that whole heart thing..." he winked at her, picking from shadow to shadow, circling. " perhapsss you'd prefer girlsss?" he chuckled darkly. " Then thisss would REALLY be hopelesss" He amused himself with the thought, his tail dancing behind him in the wind.
Then she asked the question and a dark smirk slunk over his face, like poison it infected every part of his expression until it was just deadly on a nice face. " What INDEED..." he hissed, baring the full length of his serpentine fangs. " Ssssee thisss Princesss? " had i given YOU a bite like that...you wouldn't be very beautiful anymore..." He chuckled, amused at her efforts to make herself his better "aren't you lucky"

Sophia thought for a moment. Girls? No, she didn't think she had any attraction towards them, at least in romantic ways. Unless she could find a mare who was exactly like her in body and mind--but still, the idea of mating with a mare was strange to her. In fact, the whole term "love" was simply strange to her. What exactly was love? She knew nothing of it, only knew of lust and imperfection in those lower than her. Even the small stories she knew of her parents included them falsely loving eachother, lusting after eachother's appearances, and almost killing eachother (and their unborn offspring) when they found out about the lies. It made her sick to think about it, and she could only think that love was a lie, a fantasy created by do-gooders to take some of the reality and drabness out of life.
Love was simply not for her.
"I will love no one. That is a FACT." Her hoof stomped in resolution, almost as if she were assuring herself rather than Chemosh.
Sophia snorted, despite the shiver than ran down her spine. "Lucky? It is you who are lucky--if you had killed me, my brother would have hunted you down for revenge. He is quite the deviant, I think." She thought of her brother's shining cleaver, used so delicately to draw blood from his victims. She wondered if her bluff was true--would he use the weapon for actual fights?
"But the obvious fact is that you didn't want to kill me. You knew the world would be so much drearier if my form had ceased to grace the earth with its beauty." She glared at him, all at once wanting to egg him on and hating him because of the truth of her words.
She hated that look on his face, the way he looked at her. Smoldering anger crept back into her chest, but she knew she couldn't risk another lunge at him. Would he let her live twice? Or would he kill her? But he didn't deserve to ogle at her like that!
"If you value your stallionhood, I suggest you stop looking at he like that. And banish whatever horrid thoughts you are thinking from your sickly mind."

Chemosh chuckled darkly at her comment about her brother and pulled a sharp grin, this time almost devoid of the charm he had lavished upon her before. " Oooh~ Fiessssty~" he purred, rolling the words on his snaky tongue. But if that'sss the ladiesss wisssh~" he hissed, mock bowing to her, a curtain of dark curls falling over one of his pearly eyes. " Also, I would not know much of love as it isss...but i never ssssay i wont find it...at sssome point...jussst in cassse" He laughed a bit.
" Oh i have a sssick mind do i? well princessss, you're not a well of innocence yourssself...that isss very plain" he yawned, displaying a large set of needle sharp fangs. " And...in cassse you were wondering princesss...if you do that again...i WILL give you a little bite to remember me by, i may not kill you...yesss, you ARE quite interesssting...i'll give you that" as he spoke his eyes gleamed behind his raven black hair, opalescent and unreadable " i'll do my abssssolute besst to be...nice" he sneered, what would this little chickadee do next, he wondered.

Sophia almost felt like biting him again, or perhaps kicking him as hard as her dainty hooves would let her--but something in her mind, that little warning voice, told her to hold back. Did she really want a dose of whatever poison he possessed, only so she could sate her foolish anger? What if it really did kill her? Or perhaps maim her appearance somehow... no, that wouldn't do. She would simply have to hold her temper for once.
"You're right," she said, her voice lowering. "I am not innocent. Beautiful, seductive, dangerous, yes, they describe me. But perhaps I never wanted to be innocent." She fluttered her eyes, deciding that her anger was getting her nowhere. But where exactly did she want to go? She wanted to throw him off guard, have him be the victim. To have the upper hand.
And there was always a way to do that.
"You know, Chemosh, perhaps I underestimated you." Her voice was soft, smooth like silk. Her attitude had changed in an instant, as she was known to do. She stepped closer, but this time not to maim him. No, it was quite the opposite. "You seem to be quite the predator. You're right--we are not so different." Her spine shivered as she came within striking distance, but she had a feeling that he wouldn't bite her. At least not yet.
She came close, letting her breath out slowly, her eyes narrowed and eyelashes quivering. She almost touched him with her nose, almost gave him the much-anticipated kiss. But then she turned away, a wingtip softly brushing his neck. A sly grin came to her face, though she was faced away from him.
"But it is too bad that I disapprove of you so. Else I think we might have made it out quite... beautifully." She glanced back, grinning. Perhaps that would bring a frown to his face!

He narrowed his milky eyes as her tone changed into a soft purring voice, one that stank of sneakiness. " Of coursssse not, you ssssimply LOOK innocent until folksss get a good look at you." He sneered as she tried to woo him, and he, though occasionally foolish with women, was no dumb stallion. He knew how to avoid such techniques, afterall, he used most of them himself!
He raised an eyebrow as she continued to sweeten her voice, her attitude pulling a complete one eighty...HIGHLY suspicious. He watched her carefully as she got closer, he curled his lip in warning, but nothing else. " Oh REALLY~ that'sss quite nice of you princessss, we are both predatorsss it lookss like...but should we REALLY be hunting one another? hmm?" He held his breath as she came close to his nosetip, to his sharp fangs that could do such damage to that tender flesh...but she turned away. He exhaled and snorted slightly, he knew her game.
" Beauty isss in the eye of the beholder, and you may have noticed" he crooned " that my eyessss are thossse of a ssssnake" he laughed darkly, his voice deep and rich, poisoned chocolate. " but whatever you choosssse princess~ i AM disssappointed ,if that'sss what you want to hear" He swished his tail behind him " but sssimply becausse i'm loosssing interessst in sssuch a sssstiff mare~"
