She was checking the borders of her herd lands, making sure it all was secure, the attack that had happened not too long ago had the herd and mostly Shoshana on edge. She glanced around carefully as she walked along. It was still weighing on her mind just how alone her herd was. No allies, she'd have to talk to her close friend and help mull things over later. Now she wanted to make sure she wouldn't have to ward off another attack anytime soon. Stepping out into the common area that was the clearing, she glanced to the sky, then all around hesitantly. For a moment she stayed in the tree line, taking in her surroundings before finally stepping out and into the clearing. She walked out, looking to see if her friend might show up or at least be on her way out of the trees it's self.. Seeing nothing, she settled to look around and try to get something to eat before she moved on with securing the borders of her home.

Kali had just finished her morning drink at the pond in the clearing, a place where she spent most of her time thinking and resting. She hadn't yet decided what she wanted to do with her day - she was having trouble deciding between looking at bugs or picking flowers. As she weighed her options, she trotted out of the forest and into the tall grass. The scent of roses wafted in the air and it didn't take long for her to decide what she wanted to do. She started moving slowly toward the smell, following her nose as she walked.

Food was a welcomed thing, her stomach had been protesting to her but at least it wasn't anything compared to the hunger she'd had while expecting foals. It had been a pleasant time and now her little ones were little no more. It was almost sad that they were grown and leading lives of their own. she didn't get to see them much. Sure her daughter Briallan stayed with the herd, but she still had her own agenda, especially now since she'd been with her during the attack. A small sigh escaped her. Would they now live in fear? Her ears flicked and she stomped her hoof in a silent resolve. No, they wouldn't live in fear. They'd just have to find some allies that they could count on. It wasn't long that her thoughts were disturbed by the sound of something moving in the distance. Lifting her head, she looked around to see the cause of the sound. Would it be another attack?

As Kali trotted along toward the smell of roses, her stomach grumbled, and it occurred to her that she hadn't eaten all day long. She wandered placidly on, and began to ponder offhandedly whether or not roses were edible. If so, what did they taste like? She'd never thought to eat one, but they seemed nearby, and she was growing hungrier the more she walked. They smelled sweet enough - perhaps they tasted similarly. There was only one way to find out! Kali strode into the clearing where she'd detected the smell's origin, and was disappointed to find that the field was not littered with blossoms as she'd imagined it would. There seemed to be only one source of flowers in the area - a pretty pale-faced mare with flowers in her tail. The little foal approached the older soquili with a smile, feeling confident that a face that lovely couldn't be malicious.
"Hello," she piped up, in a voice so subdued it gave one the impression that it was not often-used. "Do you know if roses taste good?"

The rustling grew closer till she saw a little filly wander closer and closer still. When the filly spoke she wondered how often the little one spoke but brushed it aside to ponder on her question. "Roses? Hmm I can't say really I've never really tried to eat them before.." She looked thoughtful for a moment. "But then again I think it might be a bit hard to get to them if they do.. their bushes often have thorns that p***k and scratch hurting you." She offered the little one a small smile, feeling at ease that it hadn't been her worst fears. But then.. where was this little one's family? She looked around, scanning for a close by mare that may be looking for her foal. Not seeing one she wondered if maybe the filly before her had pulled a disappearing act much like her own children had when they were foals. Smiling, she looked down to the little filly and lowered her head so she'd be at eye level to her. "Little one, where are your parents? Are they looking for you?" She had to know. the danger that could be lurking still was fresh in her mind and it made her fear for the little one's safety.
