Life was terrific! She'd met the rest of her family on her mother's side, cousins galore! it had been a great visit to go see her grandparents and their new baskets. It seemed rather interesting that what ever popper, be it boy or girl, from within the baskets would be younger and smaller than her, though still would be her aunt, or uncle. She wondered. Would she get more aunts? or would she gain uncles? The excitement of it all had her dancing in place as she looked about to see if her mother had taken any notice. Perfect! Her mother had turned and was attending to something else. She took this time to dash off and run to seek adventure without her siblings or parents.

Zavis was doing what he usually did. He was standing in the deep shadows of a bunch of trees, the only sign he was there was the occasional dipping of his head to graze on the sparse grass beneath the canopy. His stomach growled and Zavis sighed, he knew he'd have to go out and find some better grazing for a few hours but he was very reluctant to leave the apparent safety of the shadows, where his dark pelt and darker stripes hid him very well. He'd not been out of the trees for long when his ears picked up the sound of small hooves approaching. Quickly he scurried into the safety of of the trees, hoping he'd managed to get there before the owner of the dancing hooves had seen him.

Too late for him, Her eyes every darting about ever watching to see what new thing she could find, had seen his movement. She hadn't quite gotten a good enough glimpse and so as usual her 'OOoo what was that' attention span kicked in causing her to B-line for his direction. She was rather,,, easily distracted most times, always wanting to do something, not stay sitting for too long lest it be for napping, eating or the occasional bath from her parents. Even still she'd wiggle some how as she slept, fidgeted during her meals, and tried to give her parents a real run for their money when it came to pinning her down for a bath. She wasn't dirty.. just.. rambunctious, Inquisitive. "Hello?" Her ears perked as she reached the trees and peered inside them. She knew better than to leave the safety of open areas where she could be spotted easily by her parents.. but.. some times she just wanted to know more.

Zavis took a few deep breaths and retreated into the deep shadows his whole being going *pleasepleasedontseemedidn'tseeme* He wasn't very good with the whole social thing so he mostly avoided them. He closed his eyes and held his breath.
"Hello?"
Zavis flinched a little, the voice sounded young but you could never be sure, there were tricky creatures out there. He tried to stay quiet but in shifting his weight he managed to step on a small twig .. SNAP ... it cracked and his heart pounded in his chest a little... until he saw the owner of the voice.. a Foal .. foals weren't so bad... unless they were one of those bad Soquili. His ears flicked nervously before he let out a very quiet nicker of greeting.

She strained as she peered into the trees, giving a small jump at the snap of the twig. It wasn't till the greeting nicker that her mind settled on staying put. She wasn't often the first to back down and run but some times on her own she'd forgive herself the first instinct to flee in the face of danger. "Are you afraid to come out?" She ears flicked about as she still looked at the trees. Who could be in them? "It's ok.. I'm not going to hurt you! Never fear around Prot!" Yes Prot, the dragon personification she's made up as part of a game. It'd become her fail safe., her way to be strong when something seemed a bit... creepy.

He stuck his head out of the shadows a little, his ears flat against his skull. He could see the filly was looking for him so he took a step forwards, so that he was almost visible. "Hello little one" he said softly, hoping not to frighten her, she didn't look bad, she seemed cheerful enough. "Prot?" he queried "Where are your parents little Prot?" thinking that was her name.

A light giggle escaped her as he finally made himself visible. "There you are!" She offered him a smile. At the question of her alter ego as it were, she struck a triumphant pose. "Prot dragon RAWR!!!" She giggled and danced around in a circle before stopping. "My name's Tian.. I just pretend I'm Port.. But my parents are taking care of my siblings a little bit away...." She peered up at him with big green eyes. "What's your name?"

Zavis attempted a small smile at the lively filly, she looked like a sweet and kind soq, not a bad one so he emerged fully. "Prot is ...a Dragon? and you're ....Tian right?" he said slowly, his eyes wide with interest as he listened to the filly "Your parents.....you shouldn't be so far from them, lets go nearer so they can see you" he said, taking a shaky step towards the meadow once more. "My name? ... it's Zavis" he replied, forcing himself to take one slow step after another.

She nodded some. " Prot's my dragon game! So you see.. I'm prot!" She giggled some more without a thought of if this could get confusing or not. "I just pretend to be prot... it's make believe." She grinned wide as he emerged fully from his hiding spot. She tilted her head some at being so far from her parents. "Why not? is one to be coddled all their life and never seek grand adventures and quests?" Oh indeed she thought she was one of the bravest things around. that leap first and then think about it later sort. "But it's nice to meet you Zavis." She grinned once more still prancing and dancing about in a small circle though she'd moved closer to him now so that he was in the center of the circle she made.

Zavis smiled a little. "I see, it's a game and you're Prot AND Tian" he said with an edge of light humor. Only a foal could be two things at once and be perfectly at ease with it. He stopped a second to think when she mentioned being coddled. "Well, no but it i wise to stay nearby your parents until you are big enough to defend yourself if you need to" he said, trying to sound nonchalant. He chuckled lightly and ducked hi head a little, wings shifting tightly to his sides. "It is nice to meet you too Tian" he said, his voice genuine.

She sighed some at his attempt at a nonchalant lecture but knew he had a point. "Do you play?? You could play with me if you want!." She giggled and hopped about in a circle some before stopping and a waiting for his reply. "I know lots of games!"

He smiled at Tian, the young ones always seemed so free of the worries adults had to deal with every day, he often wished he could remember his childhood but that was the past, he couldn't do anything about it now. "Play? i...i don't know, i don't really remember any games" he admitted. He chuckled at her hopping.

"I can teach honest!" She giggled and trotted back out into the grass further so he could come out and join in on the fun. "Just come on out and um..... I know we'll play tag! You know how to play tag right?" She flicked her short tail, waiting for his reply. Playmates were always fun to have, even if they were adults who were only humoring a silly filly.
