Forever sweet and never ending…
Lullaby

Plot:

Once upon a time a young boy named Jalen was born to a very Christian family. He was a happy and fun loving child until his fifth birthday, when his fairytale turned to nightmare. He was bit by a rouge vampire and quickly found himself craving blood. Luckily he was strong, hiding his bloodlust and slowly starving himself. Until he snapped on day, draining his best friend in front of his parents. Parents that then tried to kill him. Thankfully someone heard screams and the police took the boy’s parents away, leaving him to grow up in a foster home. He’s seventeen now, still understanding nothing about what he is. Being passed from home to home has made him quiet and sullen, spending more time lost in fairytale books than in real life. Starving himself has given him an almost sickly appearance and it’s next to impossible to control himself when he smells blood. Due to his childhood he’s too ashamed to tell any foster parent the truth of what he is. That is… Until he meets his new father. One that he would prefer to think of as something other than family. Will this man show him love, even when he discovers Jalen’s huge secret?

Vampires:

If someone is turned at a young age, they’ll continue aging until maturity and then all body processes stop. Even at the young age, however, most body functions stop. They no longer need to eat human food or sleep, though some may want to continue to keep up appearances, even if it all tastes like ash. Vampires cannot ‘starve’ themselves to death, though going long periods without drinking will make them sick and weak. Garlic is only a problem if ingested. They can enter holy grounds, but will feel highly uncomfortable, constantly looking over their shoulder as if someone’s watching them. Stab a stake through their heart and they probably won’t die. Vampires have a fast healing rate, meaning injuries that would kill a normal human only maim a vampire and heal the next day. Vampires are stronger and quicker than most humans, but not if they haven’t been feeding. To change into a vampire is fairly easy processes. You just drink the blood of a vampire and wait through three days where you must drink off the one that turned you. During those three days the young vampire is completely vicious and thinks only of blood. After those days, it becomes more a like a dream. Most young vampires don’t remember those days. A vampire does have fangs that creates a sort of venom. It makes the blood drinking experience exciting an brings an intense, sexual feel for the one being fed off of.

Rules:

(1) Obviously site rules override mine, so follow TOS. However I like smex as much as the next fangirl, so if it gets that far we always have PM.
(2) Please at least reply once a day. I get very bored and I love to reply to posts. I normally jump on to reply to things right before school and then I’m on after school, so I have a lot of time to sit and be bored.
(3) I don’t mind if your character isn’t human. It can go either way. Someone on the supernatural side to try to teach Jalen, someone with their own secret, or a human struggling to get their mind on this while trying to help Jalen as much as possible.
(4) Semi-literate please and always use a picture. Typos are always understandable. I would be the world’s biggest hypocrite if I told you not to have any. But at least post a good paragraph or something along those lines. Add detail. Make it pretty. (I like pretty.)
(5) Let me know if you don’t want to continue. Don’t just randomly drop out. Trust me, I’ll understand.
(6) PM me if you’re interested!

Ivan Konstantinovich

Ivan usually wasn't one to take in foster children. At least ... he hadn't been much of a family man after the last 'meeting' he'd gone to with his group. He and his group didn't get together a lot. Well, the group got together a lot; Ivan just didn't prefer to joining them at their monthly gatherings anymore. Not since a few years ago. But now all Ivan wanted was to do whatever the hell he wanted; screw the rest of his old 'friends' and 'family.' He'd gotten his own place and done what he wanted, totally free.

He was tired of being alone though. And fostering a kid didn't sound too bad. Heck, it wasn't like he was going to be having kids of his own anytime soon. Sure, he'd been warned this particular young adult was ... odd. Hey, Ivan was a bit odd too.

Driving his old and rather rough-looking vehicle up to the foster care building, he shut the old mechanical monster's door shut and began walking up to the front door, hands in his pockets. Well, time to see his new housemate and charge ... see if he was as odd as everyone said.

Forever sweet and never ending...
JALEN

In the waiting room of the foster house sat Jalen, a single backpack with his clothes in it sitting next to him. He looked very out of place in the brightly colored room, contrasting with the smiling cartoon figures on the wall, all smiling and waving. His shoulders were slumped and his eyes held dark circles. He looked like he had the flu, pale and tired looking.

But no one waited out with him. None of the caretakers at the in-between foster home liked him... They stayed away and let him do his own thing. Like he was dangerous or something, despite the fact he just sat off by his self and read books. Kinda like the beat-up paperback book he held in front of his face now.

He looked up when the door opened, wondering if the man that entered was his new 'daddy'.

Ivan Konstantinovich

Ivan walked in, probably looking like a star example of what had once been imagined of an 'Aryan Race,' blond hair, blue eyes, and a well toned body hidden beneath loose-fit clothing. His eyes traveled to the young man in the waiting room, taking in the other's appearance and scent--the latter a bit less noticeably. He looked ill, but smelled healthy enough, if with a slight hint of ... mint? Winter? Something cool-smelling. Ivan smiled at him in a small friendly way, wondering if this one was to be the young man coming home with him.

Well, first things first. Going to knock on one of the doors of the foster half-way home, to get some paperwork done and 'finalize' this and make sure he was taking home the right kid ... though he didn't see any other around.

The door opened and a man came out. Shorter than Ivan and with a distinct bald spot growing on his head. "Ah, right on time Mr. Konstanbinoble."

Ivan gave a small cough that could've covered a laugh. "Konstantinovich."

"Excuse me?"

"Nothing, nothing ..." Ivan said, still smiling slightly. What was it with some people and Russian names? Either way it was established that, yes, Jalen sitting over there would be his foster child, and that the man needed a minute to get the paperwork gathered up. Ivan nodded, watching the man scurry back to get the rest of his paperwork before walking over to Jalen, looking down at the young man. "Well, hello," Ivan said, stretching out an open hand to shake. "I'm Ivan. I believe you'll be living in my house from now on."

Forever sweet and never ending...
JALEN

Jalen took the man's hand and shook it, ignoring the feeling of the other's pulse under his fingertips. He let go rather quickly, though, standing up and dog earing the corner of the page he was on.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Konstanbinoble," he said with a completely straight face, knowing he was butchering the man's name. But he couldn't help it.... Konstantinovich? It either sounded German or Russian... But the joke was too good to pass up. "I'm Jalen."

He easily swung his backpack onto his shoulder, trying to beat down the feeling of hope. The same feeling he always got when someone came to take him home. He was like a lost puppy, following the first person he found home, wondering if they were going to give him a treat. But he was always kicked out and forced to return to the foster home.

It still didn't mean he couldn't hope... Right? But he had his quarks and everyone seemed to hate him for it. ...Not that he really blamed them.

Ivan gave a light sigh at first. Well, if he wanted to be a place where people could pronounce his name, he could go back to Russia. And he he didn't. It was too darn cold there. At least the young man seemed agreeable enough, even if his hand had seemed a little cold. Ivan didn't make note of the fact: people's hands often got cold when they were nervous. It was a natural reaction. And it wasn't like they had held hands long enough for Ivan to really feel their temperature.

The man came out again with the paperwork, and Ivan turned his attention to signing in all the right places. With the length of his last name ... it took a little while, but he got it done. Once that was over, there was nothing left but to bring Jalen home. "Lets go home then," the blond said pleasantly, opening the door for Jalen before walking towards his car ... a vehicle that looked like it belonged in a junkyard or a monster truck rally for crushing.

JALEN

Jalen didn't bat an eye when the man led him to his clunker of a car. He had had many foster parents before him, and had seen far worse in his somewhat short life. One couple decided to take him home on the back a tractor. Needless to stay it was very slow and boring ride while the boy just stared at cows passing them by. This would be a walk in the park.

He slipped into the passenger seat, laying his backpack on his lap and turning to stare out the window.

"So..." he murmured in an attempt to make some sort of pleasant conversation. Maybe if this man took a liking to him early enough, he would keep him for a little bit longer. "Why did you decide to adopt a troubled teen? You would think it would damper the love life of a hot, single guy like yourself." Did that sound weird? Maybe he shouldn't have said that. Clearing his throat slightly, Jalen added, "I don't think I ever go your first name, by the way, Mr. Konstantinovich."

Ivan slipped into the driver's seat, starting the car and getting it moving before answering the questions. "Ah, why not adopt a troubled teen? I was an orphan of sorts myself once; I know what it is like to be abandoned. And I would rather try to do some good and have some company seeing as my ... adoptive family is being a bit on the gruff side right now with me, Da? And my love life is ..." he chuckled, "a bit on the nonexistent side right now, if you know what I mean." Stopping at a stop light, he raised an eyebrow. Hm. Jalen had gotten his last name right on the second try. Pretty good.

"It's Ivan, though I distinctly remember telling you that when we shook hands." He smiled kindly though, eyes on the road. "It's alright though. It can be a bit scary ... going to a new home." Though ... it looked like they were leaving the main city, heading towards a dirt road leading to a rather secluded humble home. There was only one floor, but it was wide and spread out, definitely big enough for two people.

JALEN

"Did you now...?" Jalen murmured when he heard that Ivan had already given him his name. The boy only felt slightly bad for not paying attention inside the building. His thoughts were normally all over the place. Partly still stuck in a book, part on ignoring the beating, wet pulses of those around him, leaving only a little part to pay attention on everyday conversation. He often missed things.

But he would be sure to remember Ivan now. Definitely Russian.

Caught up in his thoughts, he almost missed the last part of Ivan's statement.

"It's not that scary," he corrected, never taking his eyes from the window, staring at his own, slightly sickly looking face. "It's more of a rollar coaster. You end up getting your hopes up because someone took interest in you. Then things even out and you get settled in. Slowly though you end up coming to a drop when you realize that your new parents are trying to change you and they realize they won't be able to change you. And then you hit the bottom and you're stuck on the doorstep of the foster home again. Not scary. Just... Repetitive."

Ivan wasn't too surprised at Jalen's slight inattention at times. The young man did look sickly. Maybe a nice big, meaty dinner would change that though, with a comfortable bed. Ivan slowed the car as they come up to the house and parked it, no garage in sight. "Hm," he thought aloud at the other male's replay, "well, hopefully this is the end of your 'roller coaster ride,' and we'll get to stay together with me doing something like trying to change you."

He opened up his door and got out of the car, ready to give Jaden a tour of the place. "It's not too big," the Russian said, moving to unlock the front door, "but it's got two bedrooms, a living room. A sized nice kitchen and bathrooms for the both of us. And a very ... unused study ..." Ivan chuckled to himself, "... that has become more of a storage closet than anything. But we do have one the biggest back yards ever: the woods. Acres of land with nothing but trees." The door opened, and he smiled at Jaden, ushering him inside. "Well ... welcome home, Jaden. If you want to unpack, your bedroom's the one down the hall to the right. I'll get started on a meal for the two of us."

JALEN

And so it begins...The boy through to himself as he walked through the door. It was a fairly nice house... Be he didn't care about the kitchen or bathroom. He only needed two rooms: His bedroom and the living room. The two places he would be spending most of his time. However, he did find interest in the study. Small, but still... It sounded like a nice spot he could make his own. The woods... Well, he didn't care much about that.

"Don't bother cooking something for me," he said as he started down the hall. "I'm not that hungry." He sincerely hoped the man wasn't serious when he talked about changing him.

But everyone always tried. Mostly it started with the meals. He would always politely declined food. It tasted like ash and he could hardly choke it down without gagging. So he just didn't eat. So far he had been to three different types of homes. The concerned family that just tried to cox him to eat. The forceful that tried to shove the food down his throat. And the accusing, who figured he must be stealing food in the middle of the night. That was one of the main reasons other families got rid of him. They didn't want the liability of him starving to death.

Ivan tried not to tilt his head when the child said he wasn't hungry. For a moment he thought he heard wrong. Jaden had a very distinct look of someone partially-starved and definitely had a hungry look in his eyes that the Russian could see clearly. So why was Jaden lying? Though, for not the man only shrugged to himself and went about making a meal for one. Soon enough the smell of steak cooking along with sausages filled the house; a very appetizing smell to the Russian. But, then again, raw meat was jut as appetizing to him as any other. Cooking it was just a necessity with someone else in the house.

Ivan hoped that Jaden didn't mind having a bit of a humble room. A bed, dresser, bathroom and closet. A small window as well, giving a nice view of the forest.

Though, once the food was done, Ivan eagerly sat down to eat, using a fork and knife to cut and eat his meat. Another humanly courtesy.

JALEN

The smell of the meat had the opposite affect on Jalen. It made him nauseous... Not so much the meat itself, but the animal blood cooking off from the meat. It was sickening smell, unlike humanoid blood, which was more of a sweet and wet aroma. But the boy was actually glad Ivan was cooking animal meat. The nausea made him forget about his own hunger.

The room, in Jalen's opinion, was perfect. He folded what little clothes he had into the dresser, hung his backpack up, and took out his beat up, worn story book. Hating being alone for any length of time, one of his childhood fears he never got over, the boy took the book and plopped down on the couch in the living room to read.

Still, he couldn't help but hope that maybe this place would be different... Ivan seemed like a nice guy so far and if he could keep down his vampric instincts, then maybe things would work out... As long as Ivan didn't get a papercut.
