User ImageToday was just like any other day for Umbuji, the big, cream colored lion. His grey blue eyes scanned the piece of land that he'd come to call home. It was nothing special, a rather large fallen Baobab that was hollow served as his den. There was a nice large, flat rock a little way away, perfect for basking. Basking was one of his favorite pastimes. That and looking at the clouds. There was just something about the clouds that intrigued Umbuji. How they moved, how they were never the same. He often thought they even looked quite tasty. Normally, he'd been content to wander from his tree to the rock to spend his day lounging in the African sun, but something was off. He didn't know why, but all of a sudden, his daily routine seemed, well, boring.

A small gasp left his mouth when he came to this realization. He was one of the most laziest lions around! Surely nothing could be boring for him. But it was. He could tell that was what he was feeling. What could he do about it though? He wasn't particularly interested in thinking about the boredom and how he could cure it. He just wanted to go away. Maybe something would help him work it out.

Content to leave his decision making up to another, Umbuji loped to the rock before laying himself out, belly up, to look at the sky.

I'onoe was smiling to herself, stretching her legs for the first time in a while. She wasn't too far from the pride borders, she knew, she was too paranoid that she would be unable to find her way back to truly wander from the pride. She had her daughter there, her beautiful girl, and she wouldn't dream of separating herself from the girl. She just...wanted to see her old home. As a rogue, they had had no fixed place, they just kept walking until they found the Bahari, and suddenly - they had a home. She didn't miss teh rogue lands, but sometimes she wondered what things were like - outside the pride.

She did miss her mate. Well, no she didn't. Not really. She missed what he used to offer her. Companionship. Friendship - when he wasn't being a jerk. He even offered her love at one point, but that had faded fast. She missed the good memories she used to have in the rogue lands.

She sighed to herself, before shaking her head firmly. No. She would not be down today, she would not be moody. She was going to enjoy her brief expedition to the rogue lands while she was there, and then she would leave and she would not miss a thing.

Her plan held firmly in her mind, she smiled and continued to walk calmly.

User ImageWith all of his focus turned towards the blue sky above them, Umbuji took some time before he noticed the signs of another approaching. He was not too worried. He'd met others before, and so far they had seemed reasonable, but in a rush. Always somewhere to go, never enough time to stay and talk. Perhaps that was one of the things that had begun to make him bored. He never really had any meaningful relationships, they'd always just been short conversations with passer-bys. Mind you, at times he was too lazy for conversing with another, but still! If he wanted to he could, that's what counts right?

With the sounds of footsteps drawing nearer, Umbuji wondered who it might be. Perhaps another lioness? He'd met one before, she'd seemed very confused, but he'd helped her along her way, wherever it was she was going. Or maybe a lion, or a cheetah, or a wild dog or a... he squeezed his eyes tight. Too many thoughts! He'd just have to find out for himself.

Umbuji lazily rolled over onto his stomach, his limbs still splayed out as though he were a furry pancake atop the rock to face the grey lioness. "Hey there!" He said warmly, giving her a smile, but not moving from his position.

I'onoe was so caught up in her own thoughts, and memories, that she hadn't even thought to keep track for other people. She knew a lot of her pridal members now, so she had felt safe in her home lands to wander off without taking notice, but it wasn't the same in the rogue lands, she realised, horrified at herself, as she abruptly came back to earth.

She glanced towards where the voice had come from, her eyes widening at the sight of...a male. Oh. Well, that wasn't too bad? At least he didn't look mean. He looked...nice, if a bit tired looking. He seemed to be comfortably sprawled out on the rock.

She hesitated, before smiling at him, changing her direction to move closer to where he was. "Hello!" She called back. "My, you look awfully comfy there," she remarked, with her smile growing. How could he make a rock look as comfortable as a bed of soft grass?

User ImageUmbuji stretched out his limbs as he let out a low yawn. Obviously he had not slept enough last night. Still, he would have to put off sleeping for another time, as he'd now entered into conversation with another lioness. He wondered what her story would be. That was something he liked about living out here. There were always new people coming by. They always had new stories to tell.

He got a better look at her as she approached. Her colors were some he'd never seen in a lion before, but that didn't really mean anything, for the lions he'd met in past experiences had spanned the colors of the rainbow. She seemed friendly enough, a bit surprised at his greeting, but he didn't mind.

Umbuji shifted his position on the rock slightly. A piece of rock was pointing slightly uncomfortably into his soft stomach. "Yes!" He called back. "It is comfortable. Most of the time anyway. I think I have it down to an art." He gave her a lopsided grin but still did not rise from the rock. Obviously this rock had mysterious, pillow-like qualities.

"And what, if you don't mind my asking, brings you past my rock on a day like today?" The cream lion indicated to the rock he was sitting on.

He blended in with the landscape and the rocks, she thought to herself, taking in his coat colours and pattern, curious. As a rogue, she had seen all sorts of lions and other animals, but she was always curious as she met others. She smiled, mostly at his lop-sided grin rather then his words. "You are very lucky! Perhaps I am getting old then, I find it hard to get comfortable enough to nap these days," she said with a laugh. She wasn't really 'old' but she was old enough to have a full grown daughter, and that made her feel...ancient, even if she was still a young adult.

She looked surprised at his question and glanced back the way she had come, before deciding she would converse with him. He seemed harmless and she was lonely, at least a little, for new company. "I used to live out this way," she told him. "Well, not really here here, but out here in the rogue lands. I just...wanted to see how much it had changed since I was out here last," she explained, giving him a smile.

"Do you live here?" Perhaps she was intruding, but he didn't seem bothered by her presence, so she did not worry.

User ImageUmbuji noticed her eyes were very blue. Like the early morning blue of the sky. He liked to look at the sky. The dark maned lion was quick to scoff playfully at her remark. "You don't look old at all!" Well, not to him anyway, in fact she looked younger than he did. At least in his opinion.

"I have getting comfortable down to a fine art." He nodded at his words. "I could teach you if you want. It's all about total relaxation." To demonstrate, the lion stretched himself out completely, then let his limbs flop. A happy expression spread across his place. "Of course, the surface you're on also helps." He laughed, imagining it would be quite hard to get comfortable on a bed of sharp rocks.

"How long have you been a member of a pride?" He asked, assuming that since she'd left the rogue lands, she was obviously a member of some pride. What pride he was not sure, he'd never bothered to take note of the prides in the areas. So lazy.

"Yes! I live just over there." He flicked his tail towards the hollow tree that was his small den.

I'onoe was surprised, and mildly embarrassed by his comment, but pleased. Some days, she felt ancient. "Thank you," she said, offering him a gentle smile. "You are too kind."

She gave a small giggle, feeling childish as she did and quickly tried to stifle it. He looked rather ridiculous, stretched out like he was, as if he had no bones at all but simply a pile of relaxed muscles. "I see you are quite the master of it," she agreed, nodding. "I have never been one for complete relaxation, but it's nice to see that some people still are." She had always been...high strung, when she was out in the rouge lands. She'd had to look out for her daughter, which meant she was often stressed or strained, unable to relax.

"Not long," she admitted to him. "I joined the Bahari with my daughter when she was quite young." She paused, giving a small almost breathless laugh. "Though I suppose it has been a while, as she's fully grown now." She shook her head. How time flies, she thought to herself, a fond smile on her face as she thought of her baby.

She peered over at the hollow tree. "It looks comfy," she remarked. "But I suppose most of your dens are comfy for you, since you're so easily relaxed." She gave a somewhat wry smile at that comment.

User ImageUmbuji watched as she spoke. It was always interesting to hear the stories of others. That was one of the things he liked about being out here. It didn't happen often, but occasionally someone would come by and he would hear their story. It was kind of like living through them, for he was far to lazy to actually do anything himself.

"Bahari? I haven't heard of them before? It's not far then?" He asked. He didn't know much of any of the prides of the land, it wasn't too common that he met a pride member in the rogue lands. Most of those who were out here belonged only to themselves. "Is it nice there?"

Oh! So she had a daughter. He sighed to himself. That was something he'd always regretted. He'd never had cubs of his own. But maybe one day. It's not like he is very old. "It must be nice that you have family with you at your pride." He nodded.

The brown lion then gave a chuckle. "Haha, of course! I could not make something my home if it weren't superbly comfortable." Umbuji smiled as he spoke.

I'onoe was pleased to talk about her new home. "The Bahari'mtoto," she explained, with a warm look, thinking back over her home. "They live by the ocean and they have the most beautiful sunsets." She loved to see the sunset over the sea. "It's not too far from here, I had to make sure I could walk home before dark," she pointed out with a small smile. She had to get home that night, it was not like her to stay away over night. "It's very nice. I miss some things about the rogue lands, but the pride is...secure and the people are good." She nodded.

She smiled affectionately, thinking of her daughter. "It's only me and my daughter," she said, "but yes, it's nice to be part of a family group." She peered at him. "What about you? Do you have family out here?"

I'onoe nodded, laughing lightly. "That's very true! You would be silly to make a home somewhere of poor comfort." He was rather light-hearted, but he made enjoyable company, she thought to herself, smiling.

User Image"It sounds nice," he said, closing his eyes briefly to imagine what it might look like. Of course, he thought, the sunsets on the rogue lands were probably just as nice. He rolled over onto his side but still kept facing her, it was an odd position, but one he felt needed to be used in order to obtain the full comfort levels of the rock.

"No, no family. Just myself." Said Umbuji simply with a small smile. He was happy with his life, but he did feel like he was missing out on being part of a family. Perhaps someday.

The sun, now beginning to set, cast an orange tone over their conversation, Umbuji sighed, if it was going to get dark, I'onone would have to leave soon, and she had been good company. But that is part of the deal for living a life alone.

"It is rather nice," she agreed, before falling silent, allowing him his own thoughts. Soon, she was distracted by the setting sun, and cast it an almost regretful look. She had missed meeting new people - one part of rogue life that she did miss, but she had to get back to the pride. Her daughter was old enough to take care of herself, but I'onoe still would have felt better if she was at least within the same pride as her daughter - in case she needed her.

"I should go," I'onoe said, giving him a gentle smile. "It was nice to meet you though." She shifted on her paws, before starting to move away.

She paused.

"If you are ever near the Bahari, you should come and see me," she suggested, extending the friendly invitation. "I can give you a tour." She grinned lightly, before bowing her head to him in farewell.

She began to move back towards her pride, pleased to have met someone new - but happy still to be returning to her home.

User ImageHe nodded when she told him of her plans. "You should," he pointed to the sun. "You don't want to be stuck out here when it's dark and you're all alone." Umbuji could take care of himself, and perhaps the lioness could too, but he'd rather his new friend be safe in the comforts of her pridelands.

"It was nice to meet you too." He nodded and smiled. He loved meeting different characters every day, even if they were just fleeting interactions.

"I will!" He said, not thinking twice before answering. It would be a new and different experience for him to see the Bahari lands, and the sea.

"A tour would be nice. See you!" He said, waving a paw as she nodded and disappeared into the distance.
