The Desert was blazing hot, around the temple, as it usually was around midday, for those several hours, most Malu remain in their nests or in the shrines, some young pups could be seen playing in the oasis to help chase away the heat of the sun.
The fountains scattered around the temple looked most inviting as well during this time of day, One, sitting in the center of a beautiful and specious outdoor court, spouted water high, splashing the feet of a female two legged figure who was in the motion of a joyous dance. the crisp water splashing back down into the wide pool underneath.

Kaylee's multi-colored limbs carried her through the large temple, sun beating through the cracks in the ceiling. The ruins were old and dusty, but the dryness kept the silt out of the air and thus out of her pale eyes. Her dark blue wings were held aloft, as if to shield her body from the sun. She sighed, miserable in the heat. Everyone seemed to be napping, saving their energy for later than evening perhaps. As a result, she felt alone... and she hated that feeling.
The sounds of splashing water made her jump out of her skin. The silence of the temple had been her only company that day -- to hear something other than the occasional gust of wind was shocking to her system. The idea of water, however, was heavenly. She continued onward, searching for the source of the sound. Too entranced by her quest, Kaylee didn't pay much attention to her footsteps. With ruins came rubble... and rubble was the Malu's worst enemy. Tripping over a few loose stones in the floor, she fell forward... face flat on the gravel beneath her.
"OWWWW!" she whined, ears and wings drooping.
