It was a cold, misty day. White and damp, the swamp was rather quiet. No other kimeti seemed to be around, no voices, no songs, nobody around. Even Moon was out somewhere, either hunting or flirting with some females, like he always did. King Night smiled at the thought of his eagle-hound being so popular around the ladies. He really was the only one that the buck let closer to him. He had found him as a little puppy and raised him, for he thought that he needed a companion in his evil deeds. Someone to help him with making others suffer, which, of course, was his specialty.
King was walking around the thick mist that fell heavily on the dark, wet ground and he was enjoying the dead silence. The poisonous smile that was stuck on his face most of the time, came again at the thought of him being all alone with no one to bother him, no one to want to get to know him, no one to want to hear his history. No drama. Of course, like usual, this wasn't going to last for long...

Sing felt radiant today, bound and determined to stretch his hooves and explore further then he usually did. He tended to stick to the sunlit places within the bog they called home. To the fields and glens, and watersnake dens. His father had often spoke of another place though, closer to the heart of the swamp, where the darkness was thick as flies in the summers heat. The silence eerie enough to send even the bravest running..
While he and his father rarely did speak, this one tale had intrigued him so, that Dappled would speak of it at all, that he would traverse such a place was fascinating to Sing. His father had also spoken of nightmares that liked to dwell in that darkness and call it their home. Monsters made of scars and black coal, red eyes, and voices like hooves on rocks. Sing wanted to see, and so he would. His darling companion shadow not willing to follow him in after a certain point, to frightened and small he clung to a tree in wait. Making Sing wonder if maybe some of those stories were less bluff and exaggeration, and more truth, never had shadow left him before...
"Tsk..he'll come back..besides, its not all that dark and cold in here! Do you hear that mother swamp? I laugh at your attempt to hide the sun, laugh at it!" Sing barked at the sky, boldly holding his head high the misty shadows clinging to his form as he slipped through the muck.

He had nowhere to go. He had always been a nowhere buck. He didn't really have a territory. He just loved nothing more than experiences the wilderness of the dark spots this world had to offer him, and most of the time, he would rather stay inside a cold and dark cave, rather than go out in the sunlight and see everybody being all gay and enjoying the sunshine. That made him sick. It literally did. He was so used to the gloominess, the darkness, the cold and the damp that whenever the sun showed up on the sky he didn't feel well physically. His eyes were used to the darkness and on sunny days, he could barely see. That's why he needed Quiet Moon. With his black eyes, his eaglehound was perfect for hunting prey and feeding his master on sunny days. The eaglehound did anything he could to repay the master, for the master had been pitying enough to take care of that poor lost puppy.
As King got deeper and deeper inside the endless mist his ears heard a noise... it sounded more like a voice, and it didn't seem that far from him. He started moving slowly and carefully, making quiet steps in the mud, as if he was hiding from someone or something. He had no idea what was nearing him but he let his curiosity lead the way til he saw bright yellow spots, a pair of black eyes and black horns a few feet away from him.
King didn't want any company so he just turned back and walked away but as he was doing so he tripped on a big stupid root and fell right in the cold but soft mud, a loud splash coming out as his black body hit the dark brown ground.

Sing was just beginning to hum, a brilliant idea for a song coming to him, wishing to make some sort of noise in order to keep away the depressing gloom that weighed on his every step. Oh yes, he realized now why he did not like this dark place, why his father had spoken so ill of it..It was creepy indeed, but monster filled? Hardly..
A sudden echoing splash startling the bright buck from his thoughts, twisting on his hooves to face the the noise, not wishing his back to be towards anything that had a mouth of sharp teeth and thoughts of snacking on kimeti. Sing did not truly see anything out in the murk though, logs and roots, dead rotting bits of tree's and the usual endless mud. Peppered here and there with larger things, rocks probably..
Sing should have turned away, would have kept going and pretended that loud splash hadn't happened, had he not seen one of those 'boulders..or was it a log?' Twitch and move, do things that no rock, or log, or twig should have done..Unless of course, it was not a log or twig or rock, then it made sense.
"Hello? Hellllooo..You, it-thing..whatever you are, show yourself." Sing spoke brightly, warily approaching the shape in the murky water, hoping he sounded larger then he felt. Or at least sounded completely unappetizing.

He was in the mud and felt cold for the first time in a while. He thought he was used to the cold and he really was but the mud's temperature was even lower so his body started shivering as soon as he fell in the puddle. The other kimeti was approaching him. He could hear his awful footsteps coming closer and closer to him, and he couldn't afford being in such an uncomfortable position as he was at that certain moment so he got up on his legs as soon as he could, shut his eyes and shook the mud off of his brilliant coal-coloured coat. There were still some spots left, where he could feel the coldness anddirtiness of the mud but he was hoping that the mist was thick and heavy enough to erase them.
The other kimeti was scared. He could sence it in his voice. It was a male. A light-coloured one. White fur with yellow spots on it. Bright colours were another thing that made King sick.
The white buck wanted him to show himself and that's what he was going to do. Of course, his entrance had to be magnificent, he had to draw attention to himself and also... he had to look threatening which was a rather hard thing to do with so many mud-stains on your dark body. He started walking towards the other buck. No fear on his face, no emotion in his pure white eyes. He was just walking and when he was close enough he opened his mouth and a low, quiet roar came out of it "Why have you come here?"

Sing was startled once more, though he hid it better this time, taking a few pre-cautionary steps back, the larger Buck rising up from the muck, and approaching him. His question sounding quite menacing given the circumstances. Sing had been expecting many things, but hardly this..
"Searching for nightmares of legend, though it seems all I found was you!" It seemed his fathers story's had been just that, fables, myths with barbs of truth that didn't touch the reality of things. There was no monster here, simply another kimeti, a buck in fact. With coal dark fur and bright white eyes, intimidating and larger then him, a bit scary even, but hardly a nightmare!

King was shivering but he was doing a great job at hiding it. The cold spots of mud kept getting colder and colder. It was almost as if they were freezing on the buck's body due to the fog. But he didn't move a muscle. He just stood there in front of the white buck, observing him and his words, and as soon as the words fell out of the other's mouth the coal buck knew the light one was scared.
"Alone and scared in a territory you don't really know..." started King, approaching the other even more, moving slowly around him with a venomous smile on his face "...not really a nice place to be right now." he said and smiled once more this time turning his head to face the other, baring his teeth in a deadly grin.
"Besides..." the grin got even wider and his voice became lower and lower until it eventually became a whisper "How do you know I'm not your nightmare?"

Sing's long whispy tail flicked behind him, the bucks rock-like stillness a bit unnerving. He'd met some sour stony meti before, but this one, this one took it to a whole new level. Blank, eyes and emotionless face, this other didn't seem to be wanting to welcome him at all. Not even a simple 'kind' greeting his way.."Scared, me? Now your jumpin to conclusions, I'm a bit..nervous maybe, after all no one knows what kind of things go lurking in these parts." Sing lied easily, trying to swallow down his fear, the sudden shark-like smile that spread across the males face, the other circling him as if he were prey. Sing hated, being circled and the hemmed in feeling it often brought.
."I had no illusions of it being nice when I came.." Sing muttered, ears flattening against his skull, the short stiff fur across his body raising. King's look had just gone from unnerving to down right threatening, and left Sing wondering if he should take up his chances of fleeing. Certainly if he couldn't beat the other in a fight he could at least out run him!
"Because...because nightmares aren't real, their things in your head..they cant be living!" Sing snorted and stomped at the mud, taking a bold step back, Kings voice was grating, frightening. He did not believe in waking nightmares, and this-this big buck wasn't about to prove him wrong in that belief!

The other buck was scared. King could sense it in his tone, his expressions and his whole body. He wasn't that good at hiding it, or maybe he was but the morbid buck was an expert at sensing fear. His eyes had met fear so many times in so many different kimeti and he had never once failed to see that the origin of this fear was himself. And, he smiled at the thought of that. Even wider, baring his sharp perfect teeth.
As his company made a brave step back King made one foreward, closer to him. "Where are you going?" he started, the smile on his face decaying slowly, now replaced with a sign of fake curiosity "Wouldn't you want to stay and chat?" his voice still as low and as quiet as ever. It sounded more like a hissing, than a voice.
"Besides..." his usual smile came on his face once again "you told me you've never been here" King paused for a second looking around, his head turning left, then turning right, thick white mist everywhere, then his eyes were back on the light buck "maybe I can show you around?". The coal buck tried as hard as possible not to let out an evil laughter after this last question. He was genius. Pure genius. An evil one too.

Show him around, this thing? Sing wasn't sure if he hadn't already seen enough of the place, to run into such a creepy, domineering, Kimeti so soon in; one with a voice like a snakes. It was a bit of a mood killer. "Going me? Nowhere, everywhere, I'm not very sure myself, but my hooves led me here and so here I am." Sing tried a smile, a weak ray of sun in the engulfing darkness that shown throughout the place. The nighttime and it's minions ruled this place, and banished the sun, that much was obvious.
Sing had come with a purpose though, a reason that one way or another needed to be proved. Or..maybe disproved, though that seemed less and less likely to happen. The fact that the other was offering to show him around.. It very well could have been a trap, he knew, but at the same time Sing did not know these parts at all. He felt it'd be far worse to go off on his own and get lost, then it would be to take up this strangers offer. "Well..I do enjoy a good chat, and you do seem like an expert of these parts!" There was so much he needed to know, so much to see, he hated his own weakness, but he couldn't deny needing the help.
"I don't usually leave the sun, can't you tell? White as a new born cloud my hide is, and that's how I like it. I could use a guide though, and some company..But first we need to establish our identity's don't we? Manners and all that, they have those where I come from.." Sing spoke, his expression wary, his tone flat, prodding, as though this other buck were some new species all together that had no proper knowledge of 'his world'. "I'm Sings of Sunlight, and you?" Sing gave a curt nod as he spoke, had this been a female or a friend he surely would have bowed his neck a bit deeper. For some reason though, the thought of bearing any part of his throat to this one..it made him shiver deep to his bones. No, he'd keep his throat nice and protected if he could, that was for sure.

King looked straight at the other's eyes as he was talking and nodded slowly, keeping his smile as wide as possible. A fake polite smile it was because the kind of smile that the coal buck wanted to show at the moment would ruin his plans... a killer's smile was kept deep inside King's guts but wanted to go out so badly that his polite smile crooked. The other kimeti fell for it. Now, he just needed to "show him around" and everything would be perfect.
"I knew you'd agree!" the darker buck said with a friendly tone in his voice. Maybe that sounded a bit too fake. He wondered but it was too late now so, he just kept smiling and blinking like a little foal at the light buck.
Manners. Who needed manners, when King wasn't looking to make friends? Why not spare the crap and just go on with the journey he had promised to the naive white buck. He took a deep breath. "I'm King Night." his voice monotonous and nearly emotionless. The other would have thought he was made of stone, if it wasn't for that fake wide smile on his face.

How could he have said no anyways? Sing wasn't even sure he could find his way out of this place on his own without King's assistance..Oh how he wished shadow was here now, the little foxbun wasn't the most useful friend to have, but he never got lost.. "Naturally! My curiosity, get's the better of me every now and then. As long as your sure you know your way around here.." Sing shrugged gently, mirroring Kings friendly looking smile. Feeling that he'd maybe overreacted to the other buck, he didn't look so creepy when he smiled..a bit out of place..awkward maybe, but not bloodthirsty!
"King Night, It's good to meet you. So, show me this nightmare filled swamp of yours!" Sing chuckled, ears flicking eagerly as his gaze dropped away from the grinning black buck, to his surroundings once more. This place was all black and gloom, how anyone found their way was a mystery to him, there werent even any good scents to follow! Still Sing was more then ready to be on his way, now that he at least knew the others name. A very fitting name..

He was now sure the other buck trusted him. A very big mistake which the light buck was about to pay... or at least, King hoped he was. He never knew what made him want to hurt others so badly, then again, he never really gave it any thought either. He was satisfied with being evil. He was satisfied with being the bad guy, the villain. He was satisfied with playing with everybody else's fear and having them be afraid of him. That's what he wanted the most back when he was a younger buck- someone to be afraid of him, and once he had this someone he needed more. More blood. More pain. More screams piercing the quiet nights. He couldn't get enough of all those things.
"Well, of course, I'm sure" the dark buck with a friendly voice and smile on "After all, I have lived here for as long as I can remember" which wasn't really that long since he never thought about his life before the first doe he killed... It was like a birthday to him. The day he become himself. The one he was meant to be.
"Alright, shall we go then?" King said joyfully turning his body away from the lighter buck, preparing for another one of his deadly adventures.
"But, I've got to warn you. If this is truly the first time you've come here, you're not safe here. Be prepared for anything." his voice serious and low, lost in the thick white mist. He didn't turn back to face the other buck.

Sings nodded surely, of course it made sense he'd know his way around better then anyone else, the other buck didn't seem like he was lying either. With his dark coat, large size and..rather odd demeanor, Sing could truly believe he'd lived here his entire life, maybe even been born here in the dark heart of the swamp. "Of course!" Sing smiled, the others joyful tone and easy manner putting his worries at bay for the moment. He had himself a real guide, there'd be no getting lost this time, no running in circles and spooking at every shadow.. Or so Sing thought.
Dark eyes narrowing softly, watching the others back as he slipped away into the sludge thick mist that was re-engulfing everything. Suddenly not liking the bucks words at all..Sing expected a little danger, an adventure, some surprise..Death on the other hand, was not high on his list of things to have happen on this little trip. "I'm sure I'll be fine, that's why I'm following you isn't it?" His father probably would have laughed at him for being so young and naive, for blindly following the black bucks disappearing hide, right into the mist and the darkness that surrounded it. "What kind of things, do you think, make this place so unsafe.." Sing questioned warily, his own voice soft with a hint of nervousness.

He took the first step, then a second one, and then a third, slowly, waiting for the other to catch up and not letting him loose him in the thickness of the pure white mist. Now that Sing couldn't see him face to face King was grinning, baring sharp teeth at the imaginary pictures in his head, pictures white, black and red. Lots of red everywhere. Oh, how he loved red! And, red loved him, as well, he was sure.
"Of course! Of course, it is" King said in his high-pitched, friendly voice, realizing how stupid that just made him sound You're absolutely safe with me... he made a short pause and took a breath ,BUDDY.
"Things like me, you idiot..." the black buck thought to himself and hid a dark laughter. "Well, I..." he had no idea what to tell him, what if he scared him and the light buck ran away? Where was the fun in that? In that case, King was going to lose a great bloody adventure and he certainly wouldn't risk that. "I was just being hypothetical... I mean... Ummm... Imagine what would happen, if you didn't have me to guide you around in this mist? You would be absolutely lost and probably die starving" he shut his mouth before what was on his mind slipped away from his mouth "or being eaten by someone like me... hopefully, me" a dark smile appeared on his face once again as he was walking in the mist.
