Devi missed the warm sunny beaches of Boca Raton. She had gone away for two weeks to visit her grandmother, Nana Rose. But winter break was over, and Meadowview was starting up its classes again, so it was back to the cold weather of Destiny City. From what she heard, crazy things went down when she was out of town, but she's glad she missed it. Who would rather fight evil snow queens when she can relax on a sunny beach and be baked an endless stream of cookies?
Nobody.
Bundled up in her warmest of winter gear, the slightly-tanner and slightly-sunburned seventeen year old hurried into the coffee shop on her way home from classes and ordered a large hot chocolate (she hadn't quite developed a taste for coffee). As she waited for her drink, she couldn't help but notice a very familiar face - Damian Cole, her ex-boyfriend.
It had been a while since she has last seen him - not since they broke up - something which she now feels bad about, but does not exactly regret. There was a new man in her life, Sailor Orion, and he was a freaking superhero who took her on a date to outer space. Its kind of hard to top that.
Still, figuring it civil, Devi took her drink and approached her ex. Normally a smile would be customary, but she knew that whenever she tried to force one it only made her face all ugly. Instead, she approached him with little expression and a weak, "Hi."

Damian was taking a break from life, he was starting to take his senshi duties more seriously (barring taking Devi to space) and that compounded with really trying to get his band off the ground was wearing him out. He had missed the big battle with the snow queen and honestly he was glad. Today was his day to do absolutely nothing, starting with getting a coffee and then some video games.
Currently he was sitting at a table in the coffee shop, staring into the cup's murky depths as he stirred it slowly. He wondered when he'd see Devi again, she had told him, well Orion, that she was going to Boca for vacation. That was two weeks ago and he still haven't heard from her, but it wasn't like she could call him after all. And he couldn't really call her up as Damian and ask how she was doing. So he just had to wait, which he hated- waiting sucked.
And then someone was talking to him. Lifting his head his gray eyes showed surprise for only a second before he hid it. Well, that wasn't a very long wait at all. "Hey," He paused the awkward silence stretching between them before he cleared his throat. "Uh, how've you been?" He had to catch himself before he asked about Boca, he wasn't supposed to know after all.

"G-Good, I've been good," she stammered. It was a bit awkward to see him again, she was almost ready to say 'well it was nice seeing you' and walk off, but the awkwardness was almost kind of nice. It really was nice to see him again, she missed his company. "How've you been? Adult life treating you alright?"
She took a sip from her hot chocolate and placed one hand on the empty seat across from Damian. "Can I sit, or are you expecting someone?" She sat down as soon as she asked, not caring to hear the answer. She didn't like the awkwardness of standing while he sits. She wondered for a moment how Orion would feel about her sitting at a coffee shop with an ex, but hoped he wouldn't mind.

Orion didn't mind one bit. He was thrilled actually, although it would be a different story if her ex was someone else. He smiled and shook his head slightly. "Go ahead and sit." His words were said after she sat down, but he wanted to let her know he wasn't planning on meeting anyone. "I've been good, really busy, but good." He sipped his coffee, gray eyes looking at her over the rim before he set the cup down.
"I've missed you." He hadn't been planning on telling her that, but it came out before he really thought about it. And it was true after all, he saw her as Orion, but he missed being able to just hang out with her as Damian.

"I missed you too, I guess," she said without much confidence. She did miss him, but she was never that great at communicating her feelings with any emphasis. She sat quietly for a moment, tapping her fingers idly on the styrofoam cup of hot cocoa, thinking of a question to ask. Conversation was never a strong point.
"Sooooo," she started, stalling. "What have you been up to? Are you working anywhere? Seeing anyone?"
She moved one of her feet and felt it brush up against Damian's foot. s**t. She wasn't trying to play footsie. Should she apologize, or would that just call more attention to it? Should she ignore it, or would that let him think she's flirting? She thought about how to react for far too long to actually make a reaction.

She guessed? That didn't exactly instill him with much confidence. He wrinkled his nose looking back down into his coffee. Maybe she was really that enamored with Orion which would throw a wrench in his plans.
Her questions made him lift his head and for a moment he looked confused before he processed what she had said. "Ah, not much, workin at Big Willie's still and trying to get the band off the ground. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be." Her last question brought a bittersweet smile to his face. "Nah, the last girl I went out with broke my heart, I'm still trying to put all the pieces back together." He meant her of course, and maybe he exaggerated a little, but it sounded good right?
And then he felt a foot touch his foot, there was a small show of surprise on his face before he hid it, pretending like he didn't notice. But under the table he was rubbing his foot against hers lightly. "How about you?"

Devi moved her feet under her chair, not wanting to continue the game of footsie. She didn't want to appear flirty. However, she also didn't want to appear to be a b***h - obviously his heart had been broken by some girl.
However, she didn't realize the girl that Damian was talking about was herself.
"I've been good. And that girl sounds like a c**t," she said bluntly. "Seriously, ******** her. You're a great guy, you shouldn't be dating a b***h like that." She took a sip of her coffee. "Who was it, anyways?"

Damian was sipping his coffee when Devi started going off on his last girlfriend and he nearly choked to death as he tried not to laugh. Setting the cup down he coughed, trying to clear his throat.
He didn't have the heart to tell her he had been talking about her, especially after she called herself a c**t. "Uh, just some chick, I don't think you know her." Glancing at his watch he frowned, "Hey, I have to get going, I have somewhere to be. But I'll call you sometime, alright?" Standing up he started digging in his pocket, "Here, let me pay for your drink." He pulled a stack of bills out of his pocket, but in his rush his henshin pen was pulled out of his pocket as well falling on the table.
He stared at it for a second not believing he was that clumsy. "s**t," Grabbing the pen he shoved it back in his pocket, dropping a couple bills on the table. "I'll see you later," And then he nearly ran out of the coffee shop before Devi could question him about what she saw.

Devi frowned at how hurriedly Damian was leaving, worried she had done something to upset him. This thought, however, was short-lived. It was replaced by a much more pressing matter: Damian's pen.
That wasn't just any pen - that was Sailor Orion''s henshin pen. She recognized it from the night Orion had showed her his. What was Damian doing with the pen?
...Was Damian Sailor Orion?
"Holy s**t!" she shouted as her body jerked, spilling coffee on the ground. Damian was already gone, but the rest of the coffee shop all turned their heads. They'd understand if they knew the situation.
Her ex-boyfriend was a superhero, and she was dating him.
