Nadia made her way over to the usual spot she and Ane would meet for sparring. Nadia was taking her time, and she was being a little weary of her ankle. When she was going through steps with her father she had slipped and her ankle rolled. But it was feeling okay, and she couldn't stop a real fight if she was hurt.
She was happy she had Ane, he was a good friend and she learned a lot from him.

Ane trotted eagerly towards the spot that he knew Nadia would be waiting for him. Sparring with her had started from a random encounter one day, but as time passed had grown into a mutual friendship, and her company was something he had began to fit seamlessly into his daily routine. And to be honest, sparring with her or even just spending time with her was one of the things he looked forward to the most.
Raising his head he called out as he saw a familiar form up ahead.
"Hey Nadia!"
He kicked into a gallop, sliding to a stop right in front of her and reaching over to give her neck a friendly nuzzle, letting it rest perhaps half a second longer than was entirely necessary. And once again, as had been happening lately, he felt his stomach do a flip flop as he made contact with her. He didn't notice her ankle, not yet anyways he was too fixated on the feeling that kept bubbling in him. He tried to push it down, tell himself it was nothing. But regardless of what he did whenever he saw her face he couldn't stop the way his heart seemed to thump just a little faster. Instead of standing there like an idiot however he covered it up as he always did, with an easy going grin, trying to look as nonchalant as he could.
"You ready? My father was showing me this awesome trick the other day, I think you'll be impressed," he said with a cheeky grin flung her way.

Nadia smiled and returned the nuzzle without hesitation and she nodded. A new trick! She had gone full swing into her learning mode now. She ignored her ankle, and she started to feel herself getting excited. "Yes! lets get started right away." She grinned at him, nothing seemed out of the ordinary... It was just another day.
Nadia trotted up to his side, waiting for instruction on how to begin. They usually moved to each step slowly, and then after perfecting started to meld it together into practical use.
(Sorry that was crappy x.x )

Aneurin felt the flutter again as she returned his nuzzle but as they started to settle down into the familiar routine of sparring his focus shifted to the training again. He hadn't noticed anything off about her step and so far today was like any other.
"Ok," he began with an explanation of the move. "It starts as if preparing for a foreleg strike, but that part ends up being a fake. So begin like faking with a foreleg strike to the near side of the enemy, but change direction midair, landing on your forelegs with your body positioned farther away from your enemy's reach and pivot with the front hooves turning into a strike with the back legs."
He demonstrated it once so that Nadia could see what it looked like all put together, and then afterwards they would break it down together step by step. It was the type of move to draw away attention from the rear legs and draw the enemy towards you to bring more force into the kick.
Shaking his mane out he moved back into position beside her. "Shall we take it from the fake then?"

The move looked easy enough. Nadia worked through the steps with him, and her leg bothered her a bit. But she didn't let it stop her. And that was a mistake... She should have thought through it better then she did. Moving through the steps was fine, but when she took her space, and went to do the move in full swing for Aneurin... He would something that she would probably never live down.
She lifted her fronts legs for the fake, and then swung around... As she pushed her front legs down, her right one hit the ground and just buckled under her, and she fell right to the ground. She winced, the cloud of dirt settling, and she tried to get back up... But it was to painful.

He didn't notice anything wrong as they moved through the steps together, only the focus of training and perfecting the technique were prevalent in his mind. As they finished, he stepped back to allow her to do it on her own so she could get a feel for it in real time. His ears flicked to the side as he watched her and waited. It should have been fairly easy for her, Nadia always took to new moves like she had known them for years. But as Ane watched her progress through the move he frowned, her legs...they looked unsteady, for some reason.
And then the collapse came. "Nadia!"
He lept forwards and in two strides was by her side, anxiously watching as she struggled. He nudged her gently with his nose, concern knitting his brows as the questions flooded out of his mouth. "What happened, are you alright, can you stand? You need a healer, we should find a unicorn! I don't know any but...I'll help you don't worry."
Well that was a bit of a dumb flood of words, and Ane knew it. In reality he was probably making a fool of himself, freaking out more than she was. Nadia didn't tend to freak out that often. Neither did he come to think of it, but seeing her hurt on the ground had his stomach in knots.

Nadia huffed a little as she settled back to the ground. Ane's fretting wasn't helping anything... But it was odd, she didn't mind it THAT much. She shook her head trying to get her thoughts straight. "Calm down... I'm not dead. I must have sprained it."
"Maybe some herbs would do the trick..?" She looked up at him. Her auburn eyes didn't change. "I guess it's about time to put that training to use huh?" She hoped he would calm down and be able to help her with this. She didn't think she could do it herself, and pushing herself could hurt it more. And a unicorn might not be around...

He stood there in a half moving stance, one leg raised as if to jump to the rescue at any time, though of course there wasn't much to jump to...other than doing the sensible thing like she suggested and looking for herbs. When had he become such a flake about this type of thing? Never! Aneurin had always preferred to think of himself as the cool, collected type, but apparently in this situation he fell apart.
No...that wasn't quite right he realized. Not in this situation, just with this soquili. For some reason he still wouldn't quite admit, the way he was acting right now towards Nadia....was she still just a friend? Not that he had time to mull on that anyhow, whatever the case he should get his act together and figure out how to help her, without looking like a freshly weaned colt.
"Right, sprained...how bad does it look?" He moved forward with a greater determination now, thoughts collected a little more and dropped his head to her leg to look at it. He moved his muzzle slightly to brush it gently, but then pulled back a little suddenly and turned his head a bit as if to hide the faint blush creeping across his cheeks. "Does it hurt if you don't move it? Stay here! I'll go find some herbs I'll be right back!" He trotted off a little ways to where the forest crept around the clearing, nose to the ground and looking for something that would cool and bring down the swelling. Nadia was so certain, she knew just what to do even when he just stood there blubbering...he couldn't lie, it was pretty cute.

Nadia watched him. It was tender to his touch, and then her pranced off. She sighed lightly, he should have done what she asked in the first place. But she was just getting cranky because the sprain hurt. She looked around some, hoping he didn't take to long. The pain turned into a throbbing feeling, and she groaned.
"Ane~~" She whined a little. "Hurry up!" She closed her eyes and breathed, focusing on mind over matter. At least until he came back. When he did, she looked up at him, and hoped he knew what he was doing.

An ear flickered backwards as her voice impatiently urged him on. Right! Head on straight, he could start by remembering what he had been taught...He dropped his head lower to the ground, looking around for plants he could recognize. Luckily, herbs and brushes were quite common as they were in a forest more or less, and he managed to find two that would do quite nicely. Snorting with accomplishment, he plucked the stem of one in his mouth, and grabbed another branch from a shrub.
He trotted back as quickly as he could, green eyes growing concerned again as he watch Nadia with a face scrunched up to bear the pain. He could tell she was a bit wary, giving him the 'you-better-know-what-you're-doing' look. Luckily for him, and for her, he did. With the herbs in front of him he lost the dumbfounded expression he had worn at first and as years of training came back to him, he set to work efficiently.
"I'm back, don't worry I know how to use these." Ane laid them down side by side and took several leaves of the first plant in his mouth, chewing through the minty flavour, not unpleasant and would do nicely for the inflammation. Once it became more paste like, he let it out onto her ankle and spread it gently around with his nose, trying to coat as much as he could before laying a larger leaf on top and holding it in place until the paste became glue like and the leaf formed to her leg like a bandage.
"There, does that feel cooler? Oh, and here, eat these ones," he said as he nudged the other plant over. "They'll take a bit longer to work...but they should help with the pain."

Nadia watched him as he worked. She twitched her ears and winced when he put the mint on. But it didn't hurt. It was more of a 'I don't know what this is' kind of feeling. But it did feel cool. She looked at it, and then at him.
"Yeah... I can feel it in my skin already." She said. Amazed that something like this worked. And then she looked at the other stuff. She really didn't want to eat it... But she needed to get better and fast. So she took in the other herb and she chewed it, begrudgingly. When she swallowed it, she stuck her tongue out in a yuck manner.
"Well... I guess this dampens our training session..." He would be able to tell she was focused on loosing training time. But she really just needed to get home now where she could relax.

Ane chuckled at the tone of amazement in her voice, the power of herbs was never to be underestimated as far as he was concerned. The multitude of scrapes and bruises acquired in his younger days that were patched up by his mother were testament to that.
"See," he teased. "I'm more than just a pretty face." As she stuck her tongue of at the taste of the other herb he had given her he couldn't help but notice how cute the expression looked on her, and gave her an affectionate nudge with his nose. He knew Nadia had a playful side, and he had seen it a several times before but much of their time together was spent training more than anything. Still, seeing a hint of it again made him wish he could spend more time getting to know that side of her as well. Not that he didn't love their training sessions, they were the best part of his day! But to know her as more than just a good sparring friend was something he had been thinking more about lately.
He knew she was bummed out about losing time on the training session because of an injury, any knight would see an injury as a great annoyance. But he also knew she was smart enough not to push it too far and do anything that might make it worse, and as it wasn't like the were fighting any real kalona or skinwalkers the downtime would be much better for her.
"Don't worry so much about the training session, we've got plenty of time for that once you're rested and recovered. Here, I'll take you home. We can just rest there a while, I can you know, meet your parents or..ah...something." Though his tone was light, the meaning of his words were layered but he wasn't sure if she would think anything of it. He lowered his neck a little in case she needed to lean on him for support as she got up and began walking with her back, staying close to her side when she needed him for support in case her ankle buckled again.
