Within the world of stonecrest there are many ways to obtain items. Herbs, nuts, jars, clothing, artisan crafts and all take place routinely by a system of trading and bartering. Food is for the most part plentiful and herbs for stomach aches and head colds can be obtained at the local alchemist, but there are certain items that can't be found laying aside the road. --- How it works...How do I buy things? As you know, the world of stonecrest operates on a bartering system. Since it would be impractical to roleplay out each purchase, the items you see below are purchased with SP, or Skill Points. If you have enough to purchase an item, potion or skill, simply post in this thread saying what you have 'bought' and how. Record in your journal what items/skills you posses and what points you have remaining. What if my character would have learned/gained this skill/item in secret and I don't want others to see?PM the mule your purchase and we will keep track of it for you. You do not need to post your items in your journal, but you do have to mark off the SP.Can I trade/give away items?Yup, but it better make sense. If we see anyone using their extra stonecrestians to get cool things for one of their (/friend's) stronger forest creatures without any provocation or sense to it, KARMA shall strike hard and swift and you may find yourself without those nifty items at all.Can I buy items I can't use?Uh... sure? If your creature isn't quite smart enough to digest a tomb on levitation yet and you feel like keeping it around for whatever reason, we're not going to stop you! The idea of a songbird dragging around a mace way too large to ever use practically is hilarious enough to be worth it.So.... in character wise, would I have to have gone and bartered for the item/skill?No, skill points are a conglomeration of all the gains, favors and 'luck' you have had and currently possess. So rather than 'purchasing' an item from these shop owners, IC you could have found it another way...
You could spend half your SP on skills and items you picked up in your 'childhood', either through trade, inheritance or serendipity. Perhaps you purchase a skill your mama mole taught you, just write it down when you purchase it as something you gained through the course of life.
As for today, any SP you have leftover from purchasing things can be attributed to the value of the skills or items you have now and are willing to trade. Someone with a lot of SP might be an artisan or merchant while someone with very little might be a wanderer or vagrant. Maybe you've used up all your sp and now you're riding on the fortunes of your parents or fortunes past.
When you use up all your SP, you can gain more through battle (as a reward for battling) or in an event.--- The Shops...Simon and Chale's Roaming Sale A pair of somewhat dubious fellows, they obtain their wears from... somewhere, and pass the savings right onto you! Here you will find... - Low to mid level physical weapons - Low to mid level non-magic skills - Common potions - And the occasional rarityNorthwater Alchemics Makandriel and Edgar of Sunhedge are master craftsmen of alchemics and texts. Their products are hand made and quite powerful, but they only sell up low to midlevel items, "We craft for battle, not for killing." - Low to mid level magical weapons - Low to mid level magic skills - Various potionsThe Black Stump A lone withered black husk standing alone atop a scorched hill in Breezemor. Climbing over it's molded exterior you can just catch the gleam of items within... objects which had not been there the prior week. - High level weapons - High level skills - Plagued items...

Scoundrels, foreigners, grave diggers, charlatans. These two wear many labels and do so with pride. Their business after all is moving goods, and moving them any way their short little legs can carry them. And wouldn't you know it, business is booming. The weasel, Simon, is the brains of the outfit, often peeping into old grannie mole's windows after the scent of fresh blackberry pie or admiring your new thingamajig just a little too closely. He's fast talking, clever, and has no qualms about taking candy from a kitten. Chale is a more reserved creature. Though, perhaps this is because the badger can not speak the common tongue. Either way, he shares Simon's gains in exchange for keeping his furry behind in one piece. He has been known to be exceptional at this task. LocationAnywhere and everywhere. They can be found on most days haunting the morning mossflower markets, if only to antagonize the magic and potion merchants from Sunhedge.

Deep in the thicket, withered it grows It's heart beats wicked with secrets it knows LocationHallowmarl, atop a hillside in the north east. All one might find here is located within it's hallow. NotesIt is unknown how the items that periodically find their way into it's hallow get there, and it's existence is not something one speaks about in polite company. To be within sight of it is to be cursed, to reach within it is to tempt a fate worse than death. Beware use of the items gained here, they will have IC consequences.

[I hope I'm doing this right] Abeya stood at the edge of Woodhaven, tossing pebbles up into a tree. "What're you doing?" came a voice from behind her. "Uh?" She dropped the pebble and turned around, "Not doing anything..." The creature behind her wasn't at all familiar, but not threatening, so she didn't run from him. "Are you sure you're not trying to knock loose that big acorn there?", He gestured with his head and then pointed. "Oh...well, actually...Yes" Abeya lowered her head and kicked at the dirt. "You'd have better luck using this, Little One" With that, he handed her a slingshot, then with a wink he turned and left, not even giving her time to thank him.["Bought" Slingshot at 3 SP : 11 SP Remaining]
[And a question...when we purchase things with our SP, does that effect your Soul Score? Like, right now, Abeya has 7 which gives her 14 SP, which makes her "Charming" according to the chart...would she remain that way or would she drop down to perhaps "Well Spoken"?]

Newt scuffed at the dirt as Abeya went about her chores. He seemed restless, stuck between staying safe with Abeya or heading out again to find his missing siblings. But every time safety won the day. Stop being such a coward...what if they need you? He sighed deeply, What could you do anyways...you're no match for a fly! Abeya watched him from the window and shook her head, trying to figure out some sort of encouraging word for him. Then she remembered the box her adopted father left her. "Maybe there's something in there that will help?" she said quietly but aloud. Pulling the box from underneath the shelf she rummaged through and came up victorious: A sword! Well, not a real one, a wooden one, a simple toy. But maybe this was the thing to help break Newt from his shell...[Even though it's a "gift" as far as the RP is concerned, it'll be taken from Newt's SP
"Bought" Play Sword for 1 SP : 13 SP remaining]

For Marceline: Slingshot Acquired: She'd had her sling since childhood. Well. A sling. Not this one. She and her sister had made them together to chase off bees and annoy the neighbor's brats. No matter where she went, she always had at least one slingshot and a few ammo pebbles. Damn good for firing warning shots... or for blinding somebody at close range. For Finn: Lesser Club Acquired: Marcelline growled softly to herself as she tripped over Finn's potato bug for the dozenth time that day. She'd been telling herself to take it really easy on the boy for the first few weeks, but he was so chattery and just would not sit still! Marcelline was still fairly young herself, but even she couldn't remember ever being that cantankerous. As they neared a market stall with a pile of wooden weapons, she grabbed the squirrel's shoulder. "Finn! Back to reality for a sec." Finn snapped his head around to look at the cat instead of the shimmery leaf he'd seen. "Whaaaat?" "You're my apprentice, ain'tcha? If you're gonna follow me around, we're gonna level the playing field a bit. I'm buyin' you a weapon as an investment, and-" She could see that she'd totally lost his attention. Ah well, at least the little fella had an interest. Finn picked up a wooden sword, decorated with a bit of red paint on the hilt. "How 'bout this 'un?" "Nah- that's a toy. You gotta take this stuff seriously." She shook her head, passing over more toy swords... ah, there. That was nice. A thick oak stick, suitable for whacking somebody upside the head. Provided he could swing it, that was. "Now this- this, kiddo, is a weapon. I think you'll do just fine with it, whaddya think? Give it a swing, see how it feels and- no, not like that! Finn! That's somebody's market stall!" She had to admit, he was a natural. A natural that was going to cost her, but still... A natural.
