The sun's ray peeked through the mouth of the cave, chasing away the shadows to bring in the day. When the rays fell upon the slumbering eyes of an ill tempered mare. She cringed away from the caress of the beams of light, attempting to stubbornly cling to the last threads of sleep.
Curses were uttered as her mind roused from slumber, her eyes lids peeling back to reveal furious orange eyes. She glared at the mouth of the cave, as if her fiery gaze would be enough to chase away the sun's light. She wanted more sleep damn it!
Her body shifted on the moss bed, a leg stretching out from under her to try and chase away the stiffness of sleep.

Yep, the memories of the old days were starting to flood back when the sounds of a certain mare's dirty mouth flooded his ears and mind. Oh, how different they were from the times he found himself sleeping alone, without the disruption of anyone at all, which meant he could sleep in peace for as long as he wanted. And yet, the stallion didn't find much satisfaction in that. He had grown too accustomed to waking up to her disruptions, which he found himself missing at times. With a grunt, the black and red stallion gave in incoherent mumble. He tried his best to ignore the on goings and continue on with his slumber. It wasn't something that could really be helped since he was someone whom preferred the cool of the night over the warmth of the day anyway. "Hm, if you end up kicking me in the head again, I'll keep my promise of breaking that leg off..."

"Aren't you a bubbling bundle of sunshine," the mare's sleep slurred comeback was cut off by a large yawn. She shook her head before forcing her stiff muscles to move. Climbing to her hooves, the striped mare let out a loud groan as she stretched.
Glancing down to her companion, the mare's lips twitched, threatening to morph into a small smile. How nice it was to be waking up to growled out threats. Almost as nice as having a familiar warm body to press into during the cool nights.
Deeming it time to continue with their morning routine, the mare pranced around Janus in a way purely meant to annoy him. After all, under normal circumstances, Danari wouldn't prance.
"Come on," she nudged him with a hoof, "get off your lazy a**."

With the normal morning bantering part 1 over with, the large black stallion shifted to fall back in to the familiar rhythm of sleep, that is until it was oh so rudely snatched away from him by his oh so loving mate for life. It was moments like these that he questioned what he ever saw in the mare, though he knew very well why he was mated to her even if he would never admit why, just as she would never admit it herself.
Oh, if only he could, and he knew very well he could, stick a leg out and trip her on to her fat a**, but today wasn't the day. No, maybe tomorrow if he remembered, and if she ended up asking for it. For now he had no choice but to wake up. After all, he could only take so much of the sound of her hooves hitting the ground as she pranced around.Well that and the fact that if prancing didn't work she was just going to move on to a new idea and who knew what that would be.
With his annoyance rising, Janus just gave up on sleep and moved to rise on his hooves.
"And what is so important that I have to wake up now, huh? It's not like you wouldn't want an extra hour or two of sleep..."

"If I have to be up, you have to be up." The mare rolled her amber eyes while turning to trot to the mouth of the cave. Expecting her mate to follow without her having to voice those expectations. Unless the stallion had let his memory slip while away, she knew that he'd be able to read her actions.
Deeply inhaling, the mare took in the morning air, let it fill her lungs, and then exhaled it. Traces of winter still lingered in the crisp air, but soon it would be gone and spring would step up to replace it. She crinkled her striped nose at the thought of spring.
Spring meant finding new hiding places for her food stores, out of the reach of ants. It also meant the fields would be filled with blooming flower and, ugh, romance would be in the air. Just the thought of seeing all the cooing couples nuzzling and whispered sweet words floating through the air made her want to gag.
And then there'd be the influx of baskets as those disgustingly sweet actions turned to something a little more... heavy. She'd have cackled at her perverted line of thought if it didn't back track to the baskets, which turned into foals. Annoying foals.
Without meaning to, the mare's mouth twisted into a dark scowl as she muttered out a few choice curses.

Giving a grunt at the mare's words, he stood in his place for a moment, eyes closed and mind drifting back to the addicting thought of just falling back on to the ground and back to sweet embrace of sleep. That would be nothing but a dream though, because he knew if he did that then Danari would just come right back and b***h at him all over again, and things would just get more physical, in the abusive sense, perverts... [Yeah, I see you there, reading this. I know what's going through your head. o mo]
Giving a yawn, Janus slowly turned and headed towards his mate. If he thought it was bright before, then the few streams of the morning sun entering through the mouth of the cave was like staring straight in to the sun for him. It was now that his thoughts turned to a certain pest, a certain tribal rodent who stole a certain piece of cloth of his.
'Damn pest. I'll have to stomp the life out of him when he decides to return home...'
The stallion gave a scuff while he stood in silence for a moment as his nocturnal eyes adjusted to the day light. When his vision straightened he turned his gaze towards the mare and rose a brow at her expression.
"Something got you pissed off this early in the morning? I would have thought you could still hold out for another 5 or 10 minutes. At least wait until breakfast or something..."

"Just thinking of that nauseous thing known as love that'll be floating through the air. All the stallion's will be wooing their interest of the moment out of hopes of getting some action. And the mares that'll make goo-goo eyes at their bos." For emphasis, Danari looked back at Janus from over her shoulder, batting her eyes at him.
Taking note of the absence of a certain red cloth, she flicked her gaze of the cave that served as their home. Seeing no sign of it, she deduced that Iccarus had made off with it again. She really needed to have a talk with him. Before he met an unfortunate end underneath one of Janus' hooves.
"Get your a** in gear, if we head out now we can find something for breakfast and get back before noon," bellowed out Danari as she exited the cave. She never was one for keeping quiet.
With Janus' blindfold being MIA, she wanted to eat and get back before the day got any brighter. Light and Janus weren't the best of friends, and while she wouldn't voice the concern, she wouldn't keep him out in the day unprotected for any longer than necessary.
