One of my very favorite things to do is travel! biggrin I live to travel. Its all I ever want to do smile I have a bunch of travel-related life goals and want a place to keep trak of them and all my super fab adventures. I coooould make a travel blog on some blogsite, but I'll put it here instead! LUCKY YOU!!
My current travel goals are: ~ Visit all 50 US states ~ Visit 6 continents ~ Visit 100 countries
These are pretty big goals that will hopefully take me a while to complete and keep me busy smile Without goals life is boring and I would have nothing to motivate me to leave home and actually do something. I dont feel like being normal and have practical goals like "graduate college" or "get an apartment" or "get a job." Those are great goals and all but dont motivate me in the least. Travel goals, however, do. SO! I will catch you all up on the progress of these goals so far, so that I dont forget them! And then hopefully have new things to add soon after : )

50 STATE GOAL I started this goal two and a half years ago and have been working pretty hard on it smile I looove long road trips which really helps. I've driven up and down the East Coast multiple times and I drive cross-country twice a year. Each time I make sure to take a different route to add more states smile I count going to a state as spending at least several hours in it, and forming an emotional attachment. Layovers dont count as seeing a state.
States I've Been To:
Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachussets, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming
States To Go: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennesse, Washington, West Virginia

100 Countries Goal!
This goal is brand new! I decided to start it at the begining of this month. I figure its a good goal to keep me going. It wont take that long to finish my other two goals and then what will I do with myself? But THIS goal, I hope, will take a nice long time smile I am counting the countries I've been to before I started the goal. And I'm counting the US because its my FAVORITE! smile Hopefully I can accomplish this goal by doing a couple month(s) long backpacking trips after I graduate and pay off my student loans. Right now I'm studying in Germany so I'm able to visit other countries in Europe more easily than I usually would.
Countries I've Been To:
1. USA! 2. Mexico 3. Canada 4. Australia 5. Germany 6. Scotland 7. Italy 8. Belgium

6 Continents Goal!
This goal used to be to live on six continents, not just visit them. I dont know anymore if I want to live on all of them. To live I would have to stay there for 3 or more months, and probably work or go to school. At least thats what I count as living. Either way, I have only been to 3 continents and I have lived on all of them. I dont know if I would actually enjoy living on the other 3. So for now it is to visit, and if I decide later I can always change it to live smile I am not planning to go to Antartica at this time because all travel there has recently been stopped for enviromental reasons.
Continents I've Been To:
North America Australia Europe
Continents To Go:
South America Asia Africa

Lets talk about states first! And let be obnoxious and break it up into lots of posts! I would post pics but my internet is acting up right now. I'll make a picture post of the states cool enough to have pictures later smile
The first eleven states! biggrin
Arizona! Arizona is a pretty cool state : ) I approve! It has the Grand Canyon which is really fun. Note to anyone who wants to go, December is not a good time! You would THINK Arizona would be warm year round but thats a lie. And it doesnt help that canyons are insanely windy. The plus side to December though is it was practically deserted so we didnt have to fight any crowds.
California! I went to CA to hang out with Gthb! We went to Disneyland. It was a complete ripoff talk2hand It was the price of Disney World but like 1/100th of the size. Also the traffic in California sucks. And there is about 3 or 4 hours with no food stops from CA to Vegas. Still, there are worse states. It also wont let you enter without checking for produce or something. WEIRD!
Colorado! My favorite state out of New England! Congrats Colorado, YOU ROCK!! Colorado is really gorgeous. Its so fun to drive through, I always have to stop a million times to take pictures <3 I have never driven through it in winter, but in summer is soo nice. The weather is perfect. There are tons of cute little towns all over the place and you can see everything from the highway. And there are lots of rivers. I have driven through it a couple time and went on a family vacation to Breckenridge when I was a kid. I've never had bad luck in CO and have always get good memories. There was a creepy hotel once but that just made the trip more fun and its not like I got stabbed or anything.
Connecticut! The best state in the country and the best place in the world. That is all : )
Delaware! I dont remember this state. I had some opinions when I drove through it buuut that took what? 10 minutes? Its tiny and has no rep that I know of. But hey it has history! So its not all lost.
Florida! Fl is another good state. I've been there a ton of times, to go to Disney World, and to visit family, and to go on cruises. I love going in winter when its all warm and green. I used to be in LOVE with their palm trees and think they were the coolest things ever. But then I moved to NV and now palm trees dont phase me. But whatevs, FL is still great.
Georgia! Whenever my family would drive down to FL we would get to Georgia when the sun was rising and it was always really gorgeous. And warm. And it smelled good. And everyone spoke all southern. AND I visited my friend in Atlanta in elementary school and we went to some amusement park and got slimed on some Nickeloden game thing. Thumbs up to Georgia!
Illinois! I loathe this state. It is cold. It is bland. It doesnt look pretty AT ALL. And its tolls? Its just rude. And the traffic? Ugh. If I could avoid this state for the rest of my life I would be happy.
Indiana! This state is okay because it is not Illinois. I have never seen anything special in this state. It doesnt matter. But I guess thats how most fly-over states are, huh?
Iowa! Same as Indiana. It means I'm out of Illinois so I guess thats good. But its really boring.
Maine!Maine is a little stupid but I love it smile As a New England state its in my top 6 favorite states. There's nothing to do there but I still have fun. Its lovely to me and nothing bad happens there. Plus the beach is fun, even though its freezing. There are a lot of starfish.

More states!!
Massachussets! 2nd best state! I love MA smile I especially love Boston, but I also have a couple little towns that I really love. Mass is awesome, and very very New Englandy. I love it forever!
Maryland! GHETTO!!!!!!!! At least Baltimore. And Baltimore is ghetto enough to make the whole state suck in my opinion. I have VERY low cleanliness standards and its so gross is even disgusts me. Which is really sad because I like to have east coast pride and Maryland is trying to ruin it!
Minnesota! There are supposed to be lots of lake but I didnt see them! But Minnesota is ok. I hung out with Pixie there! And we went to Mall of America! That was cool. Plus I dont remember it pissing me off, so its okay!
Missouri! I really like Missouri. I dont know why. The highways were closed when I went, and I had a super long detour surrounded by giant trucks on a bad road, total final destination times. But I think Missouri is kind of pretty.
Nebraska! I dont even remember. I remember we went to some retaurant to get some Omaha beef! And they threw peanut shells all over the floor and it was super unclassy but it was still fun. I would never want to live there, and driving through isnt exciting, but its an acceptable state.
Nevada! Haha I love Nevada. Except when I hate it. At least I love Vegas. Nevada has pretty desert and pretty mountains and Vegas has all those pretty hotels and lights. Plus the weather is amazing. New Hampshire! Its pretty. It adds a lot of beautiful to New England. I mean CT and MA are gorgeous but they have more life to them, and NH (and VT) are just there to look pretty and add to our rep. NH does a good job and I love it smile
New Jersey! No comment. smile
New Mexico! NEW MEXICO IS COOL! They have cool highways that go all funny and pretty cities and I dont remember what else but NM is a fun state to drive through!
New York! I heart NY! It touches up half the NE states and so in loyalty I make it my 6th favorite state. If it wasnt touching us all up it probably wouldnt be 6th but it would still be high. The city is cool. The rest? Meh. Its ok. I like NYers. Usually.
North Carolina! I like NC ok. Its nothing too special, but its on the east coast which makes it pretty fab.

Annnnnnnnnd the rest that I've been to! smile
Ohio! They have good rest stops. They're pretty and domed and have good food. And their tolls arent horrific. Its a nice break between the I states and Pennsylvania which make me want to self harm. OH isnt interesting but its relaxing so thats good.
Pennsylvania! My least favorite state in the country. Yeah its pretty and has lots of history but it HATES me and I HATE it. I never have a good drive through it, something ALWAYS goes wrong D: Plus its obscenely large for a North Eastern state talk2hand PA is so bad to me I finally deemed it worse than Jersey and that is saying A LOT.
Rhode Island! NE STATE! Therefore awesome. smile I like Rhode Island, its tiny, and fun. It has lots of beaches! And I like going to Providence and that other place. I forget the name, which is sad bc there are like 2 towns there. Oh Newport! Newport has acceptable mansions and is fun to walk around. RI gets an A+! biggrin
South Carolina! ONE OF MY FAVES! SC comes right after Colorado in my ranking! I dont know why I love it so much. I think it just happens to be where I start to go delusional when I'm driving down the coast. Its a 22hr drive usually when I drive to FL so of course I get delusional. And it happens in SC. And then I tire myself out and get over it by the time I get to Georgia. But yeah me and SC have a special cracked out relationship and I love that state smile Also its fun when you're off the highway bc its so different looking. There's no zoning laws and its fun to see what happens without zoning laws.
South Dakota! I love South Dakota! I would never stay there but I love to drive through it. It's way different from home which I like. Its flat so you can see everything, and the towns all have population signs and they only have like 10 people living in every town. Its a really pretty state. AND!! Its has quails which are exciting. Its capital though, Pierre, is way ghetto. But not like Maryland. Its ghetto in a quaint way.
Texas! Its flat and desert with lots of those desert shrubs. At least the part I drove through. Its cool. I had fun in TX.
Utah! Another fave!! Utah is so so so so so so so pretty! And so many different kinds of pretty! There is the pretty red part with canyons and rock formations and stuff, then the pretty green snowy mountain part. I love the cities in Utah, tucked into those fun red mountains. I want to live in Utah someday biggrin Its really, really gorgeous.
Vermont! Just like NH! Its really pretty. It has really pretty rolling green hills and awesome foliage and makes New England proud!
Virginia! Virginia is big. It takes a long time to drive through. But it has some cool stuff. I like it.
Wisconsin! I dont know. It broke my GPS, that was rude of it. But I had to drive off highway to find a Walmart (the closest walmart was like 30miles away, CRAZY!) and its nice looking. Its not dirty at least. It has lots of green. I dont remember being scarred for life by toll roads. So yeah I had bad luck in Wisconsin but its an okay state anyways.
Wyoming! They win the best license plate award! Wyoming is cool! I like driving through it biggrin Its different. There are prong horned somethings all over. I dunno the name, I just called them prongies. Wildlife is cool. Wyoming is cool. I approve!

>_> Don't be dissing on Maryland based solely on Baltimore. Baltimore may be a disgusting, filthy city, but it's also intense and a twisted beauty in its own right.
If you want to see the real Maryland, go to the western counties. Deep Creek Lake out in the Appalachian is one of the most gorgeous places I've ever been. Visit Ocean City and drive out to Assateague Island. (Ever heard of Chincoteague? Assateague is the Maryland half of the island, and we let the horses run free.) Go to Annapolis. Just don't judge MD by Baltimore!

However, since Maryland hasnt done anything bad to me yet (besides hairs in my latte and mean cashiers talk2hand ) and because its on the east coast I will give it the benefit of doubt. I dont see myself visiting it any time soon though. Its not on the way cross country, I am over driving to FL, and its not close enough to CT.

So really Maryland isnt in bad company when I dont like it.

Scotland

I went to Edinburgh last September. I feel in love with it as soon as I got there smile Maybe it was because I had just been in Germany a month and being in an English speaking country was amazing, or maybe its because I spent the past month looking at lots of red-brick buildings, and seeing white-stone buildings was so new and refreshing (I dont know my building materials sad /fail) OR! Maybe its just because Scotland is awesome!
I went for the weekend and had so so so much fun! Edinburgh is SO PRETTY. It has all those old buildings, plus all these green hill/cliff like things. And, of course, the Castle. I walked around alot the first day which was cool, there is a lot to see. They had a lot of free walking tours there so I took one and learned history and whatnot. Apparently it used to smell really bad and people were poor and died. Sucks for them! At the walking tour they gave us a coupon for a tour of the Underground Vaults. I went on a tour and it was SO CREEPY! They have these rooms underground where the poor people used to live. They told us all these stories about how horrible it was and how everyone would die within a few years of moving underground. Then they told us this story where there was a fire (actually they made it seem like there was a fire every other day back then, but this was a REALL BIG fire) so all the women and children got put in the underground vaults because thats was the only place the fire couldnt go. But since they were like entombed in a stove room, it acted like an oven, and they all got cooked to death!! The Underground Vaults are supposed to be one of the most haunted places in the world, and the guide kept telling us how on 80% of the tours something happens. Multiple people will all get shoved to the ground at once, random scratches will appear on people's bodies, and other things like that. Nothing happened on my tour but it was scary. Once I left I thought it was all ridiculous, but when I was done there? Seriously creepy atmosphere. Everyone should go! I did have a paranormal fart while I was down there. I swear to god I was really scared and then I farted and it was not a normal one. I make some disgusting gas but I could not have made the smell that came out of me!! So I blame the ghosts. My a** got haunted. sad
I also went to the castle while I was there, of course. It was ok. But it was expensive and not worth it imo. I mean yeah its interesting and there are pretty views buuut maybe is it was 10gbp less it would have been cool. Instead it was kind of just a rip off. It looks prettier from the outside anyways.
I saw The Elephant Cafe where JK Rowling started Harry Potter! biggrin
All in all Scotland is my second favorite coutry that I have visited thus far smile And it might have been my favorite, if I had more than 3 days to spend there.
