Normally I buy my fish from Petland and Petland only because it is the cleanest store near me and they know a lot about fish. Every once in a while, in a moment of weakness, I buy a fish from Walmart because it is either less than half the price of Petland or it is not available in Petland. This never ends well. Every single fish I ever got from Walmart either A) dies unexpectedly, or B) gets ick and tries to spread it to my entire tank. It is very annoying. Just recently a little baby plecko and a guppy passed away, as well as my goldfish. All Walmart brand. Has anyone else had this problem? My biggest worry is for my semi-aggressive tank, I want to get a puffer fish, which I have only seen at Walmart.
Also, a warning to those in advance. Apparently even though fresh water clams are not fish, but encrustations, they count as soft bodied fish or scaleless fish. Darn ick treatment killed one of my 3 clams. You will be missed.
