 Topper watched as the sun rose before her eyes. The rising sun was one of the few wonders of the world that she didn't mind seeing day after day. It was beautiful, and amazing how it did the same routine without fail each day. " It never forgets about us," she said under her breath in the morning air with a slight smirk on her face. As she spoke she stood up slowly on all four legs. She first stretched her front two legs and then quickly shook her fur out. "Guess I should get moving," she said aloud to herself as she moved one hoof in the south direction. She wasn't sure where to go or what to do. Though she knew she had to keep moving, since staying in one place was not an option at least today. Plus there was no reason to stay here, there was nothing holding her to this one spot. So she trusted her feet and just began to walk. Unsure of what might lie in the direction she chose.

 Too much time. That's what he had. Time to think, to dwell on what was, and what he couldn't remember. Soft brown eyes looked about the area he was in. The place was the same as any other. His eyes wandered over the shifting land. He could feel it move, knew there was something in his mind he was missing. He didn't understand what had happened still, but he was doing his best not to dwell on it since his conversation with Shoshana. She was wise beyond her years, and very trust worthy. Something he felt must be rare in the world.
Taking a deep breath he flopped down and rested his head, it hurt again, the wound that had caused him to forget was aching. He blanked out his mind, working on forgetting what it was he'd been trying to remember. It simply drove him mad trying to find what he'd lost...he was coming to terms with the fact that he'd never likely find those memories and now he was uncertain he wanted them back. Closing his eyes he let the rising sun warm his body, listening for sounds of danger, but mostly keeping still and concentrating on his breathing.

As Topper continued to walk, she lifted one foot in front of the other without hesitation. She kept doing this until she noticed something in the distance. She froze in her spot for a moment and squinted her eyes to examine what it was. The more she looked the more excited she became inside. Whatever it was looked to have four legs just like her, but yet it had a much bigger body.
Hmmm... she thought aloud while wondering in her mind if she should move closer. If she did she could see what exactly it was and change this normal routine she always did. Though if she didn't she could move on with her boring life. It didn't take long before she was sneaking quietly up onto the figure. Trying to figure out just what or who it was.

Over the rather painful ringing in his ears, Teykali couldn't hear anything approaching, so he just let his head rest in the grass, the sun starting to warm the day already, though he'd have to get out of the sun to keep from getting sunburnt once the sun was fully risen.
He sighed again, in some ways he felt as though he were trying to simply breath out the pain, in other ways, he somewhat felt like he was expelling his lungs. None the less he didn't move from his spot, counting slowly in his head while he attempted to nap in this decently warmed area.

The more she walked towards it, the closer she wanted to be. It wasn't to long before Topper had moved within only a few feet of the sight she had seen. As soon as she reached that final moving step, She noticed it wasn't a what it was a who! For the thing she had seen with her eyes was a male. A male with a perfectly colored blue and white mane and swirls...much different from her own simple coat.
"Man he is big," she whispered under her breath as she walked a few tiny steps closer to him. She slowly took one more footstep towards him and watched as he sighed. His breath seemed so heavy to her, as if he was carrying all the world on his shoulders. She almost felt a little bad for him, though then she had to remember he was a guy. Still since she was invading his privacy the least she could do is see if she could help she decided. "...Are you okay?" she questioned him just loud enough to hopefully not frighten him.

He twitched his ears, but didn't actually hear the mare's query, the ringing in his ears far too loud and overpowering for any voice that wasn't shouting. His head turned in her direction, eyes still shut against the noise in his head.
He took a sniff and smelled the presence of a female, One dark brown eye slowly opened and glanced at the mare, with a weak sort of smile he started to speak then winced in pain. Silently he cursed wondering again what had caused such a violent headache to come on so early in the day.
Muscling his brain through the waves of pain, he spoke, "I do hope you're having a better day than I." His smile was a little more cheerful, but all the same pained. He swore up and down he was never again, in his whole life, EVER going to try doing whatever had caused his head injury.

Topper watched as the stallion winced in pain. She could almost feel the pain from the look on his face. "Wow he must be hurt bad," she thought quietly to herself as she walked a little closer to him. Part of her was telling her to stop and not move any closer, the other part of her knew she had too. He may be a stallion, but a person in pain was a person in pain. Normally she would tell herself to run far away from any guy, but she couldn't just leave him here all by himself. That would just be evil and oh so wrong to do, plus he looked nice enough she thought as she looked at his smile.
As she heard his question she said the first thing that came to mind. "I think I am since I ran into you," she said trying her best to smile. With one more hoof step towards him she was now standing right next to his side, the closest she could get her self to go. The more she looked at him though more pain she could see he was in. So she took one deep breath and said loud but not to loud, "What seems to be the matter?" The look on her face was caring, worried, and kind all at the same time.

She seemed to be wary of him, that made him wonder, but then he wasn't used to anyone being wary around him. His ears stopped ringing quite so much as she spoke, he tilted his head, his mane falling out of the way, "I have this nasty scar behind my ear where I knocked myself for a serious loop...I think I fell from somewhere, and ever since then I get terrible headaches when I'm alone." He gave her a meek sort of smile, "I'm not dangerous, just mopey." He was trying to make a joke about his current state, and failing just a bit.
He shifted to get a better look at her, she was an interesting looking mare, and seemed to have quite a soft heart to be poking at him on a whim, "So what brings you to this end of the forest?" He might as well make polite conversation since she was there.

The more this male spoke the more comfortable she felt around him. He didn't seem like other males, but then again she had never offered a male help before now she realized. Slowly she shook her head from her thoughts and turned her attention to him. A scar, where? she thought quietly to herself as she watched his mane fall out of the way.
Topper stood on her tip-hooves to try and see the scar he was talking about.The moment she saw the scar that had been causing him issues, she said,"Oh I see, well you know it doesn't look to bad. You actually wear that scar pretty well." As she was speaking she kept looking at the scar he wore and before she knew it was starting to lose her balance. So before she fell she slowly put all four hooves back onto the ground and steadied herself. soon as she balanced herself she listened to his joke and giggled. She would admit it was kinda a silly joke but she thought it was funny. Since it made her feel more comfortable knowing he wasn't dangerous.
"Though you really don't remember...?" she questioned him before continuing as she thought of a simple solution to his problem, "An ya know ... If being alone is the issue then maybe you should find a travel partner! Someone who is their for you and can help keep the headaches away." She took a breath and just looked to towards the sky before answering his question. "To be honest I just happened to want to wander south today, and I ended up over here," she said with a half smile. She was smiling not only because it was the truth, but because never before had she ever talked this much to anyone. Since who would want to talk to a girl who didn't trust guys and tried to act tough all the time?

He smiled a bit at her comment about his scar, but figured it was a random compliment, "Glad to know it doesn't disfigure my dashing good looks" He chuckled a bit, then nodded to her next question, "I don't really know if company helps, but I'd be glad to accept the company as long as you don't mind my lethargic nature?"
"Ah wander lust, it hits everyone some days. But most of the time you find yourself right back where you started." He grinned a bit more, a traveling companion might be what he really needed, especially with his chat with Shoshana before hand, though that had caused a rather nasty headache.
He finally chose to stand, shaking his long blue mane dislodging a few blades of grass, "Well then, where would you like to travel, m'lady?" He gave a bow of his head, "There's a small brook that direction, a nice grove in that direction with apples and a few other fruits to dine on, or would you prefer to pick a direction and head that way?" Even though he spoke rather quietly, he was being awfully gallant for an injured stallion, and being the sincere type, there wasn't even a hint of anything else in his actions.

Her muscles no longer were tense as she shook her hair out of her face. This male definitely wasn't anything to be worried about she had decided in her head, as she giggle at his comment. "I think it might take quite a bit to dash your looks actually," she said finishing her compliment with a half smile. As she waited to hear what he thought of the idea of a having a travel partner. She braced herself for him to say he didn't like the idea, but was quickly surprised when she heard him do exactly the opposite.
"Oh! Though I don't mind it at all," she said with her half smile still on her face. Since even if she didn't say it aloud she figured it would be a nice change for her. She'd be able to help him, and fight her own fear of guys. Plus she'd always been alone ever since she was young, and to have someone to talk to what a joy that might turn out to be.
"Well then it's settled I'll be your travel partner and then we'll be able to see if it helps at all or not," she said with a nod before continuing on. "That is so true you do, and it really doesn't help when you want to move forward," as she finished speaking she watched him gather up onto his feet. He looked so much bigger now compared to herself and from this view his mane looked so much more colorful in her eyes. For a moment she stood their almost in a daze before shaking herself out of it.
That was weird, she thought to herself with a silly expression on her face before turning her attention back to him and not his looks. The more he spoke the more she felt special, he was so sincere towards her it surprised her. Though still part of her couldn't help but wonder was he in pain at all right then and there?
"Um ... well I think the grove sounds like a great place to go. Since I have had any apples or fruits in forever," she said licking her lips playfully and trying to imagine what the food might taste like. Before realizing she hadn't asked what he wanted to do, so she quickly said, "though which would you rather do...?"

He couldn't help smiling at the mare, she was very chatty, and seemed to be at ease around him. He was glad of that, as he had the feeling that most times in his past, his sincerity would help others to relax. His dark eyes glanced over as she shook herself from whatever thought she'd had, and he merely chuckled. She was a sweet mare, and he was sure she'd find her place soon.
"I do believe that I am somewhat hungry, so to the orchard for a well deserved meal, with a new friend." Sure, his head hurt a little, but talking with her was making it very easy to ignore. He led the way to the orchard, where bright red apples hung low on the branches, some of them were overripe and beginning to rot, so as he passed Teykali's tail flicked to knock down the bad ones.
He glanced back at the mare and nodded, "If there are any out of your reach I can see about getting them for you." Gingerly he reached up and plucked down a fairly ripe apple for himself and began munching at it.
About halfway through the apple, he realized he hadn't even introduced himself to the mare who might be traveling with him for a while, he felt like an idiot, and glanced back at her, "I'm sorry, I've been horribly rude and not even given you my name..." He shook his head, "I'm Teykali, it's the only thing I remember since I fell, really." He smiled a little lopsidedly, and returned to his apple, looking quite morose at having reminded himself again that he couldn't remember on his own, let alone find anyone who knew him from before. It completely slipped his mind to ask what the shy mare's name was as he let the dark cloud of self loathing loom above him yet again. What good was he to anyone if he didn't know who he was?

Topper just half smiled at this stallions kindness as she walked into a orchard with him. She could feel her heart beginning to warm up to him. Her guards may have still been up a bit, though one by one they slowly beginning to crumble. She stared towards him for a minute and cocked her head. "why hadn't she ever given a male a chance before..." she thought to herself silently before turning to watch him knock down the bad apples.
"Thanks and you know this is kind of nice. I've never had a meal with a friend before," she said before trotting towards a branch. She slowly bent her legs and attempted to jump up and grab a apple. At first try she missed though she didn't let that stop her and just tried again. This time she nipped the side of an apple, though once again unsuccessfully knocked it down. She stood there and looked up at the branch puzzled. Though instead of trying a third time she instead turned towards her new friend.
She watched as he munched away at his apple and could feel her stop mumbled. She was definitely hungry though her pride wouldn't allow her to ask for help. "He is different..." she whispered under her breath hoping he wouldn't hear as her head was ducked down a bit.
As she lifted her head back up, she noticed he was almost half through his apple and he was talking. "Oh don't worry about it," she said before continuing and looking him directly in the eyes, "Though Teykali ... nice name. I'm Topper Taetel, though you can just call me Topper." As the words came out of her mouth she gave a soft smile, as she thought about what he had said. The only thing he had remembered, huh?
In her mind she figured the past was the past, so why remember things you didn't have too? "An really? Well its the only thing you need to remember I think. Since the past is the past right?" Towards the end of her words she gave a slight chuckle. Not once did she realized her thought not only pertained to him to her as well, as she stood there on all fours.

He'd been observing her a little while he ate, and stifled a chuckle at her attempts to get herself an apple, but he waited a little longer before he would simply get her an apple or two, "Ah, I've eaten with some very odd "friends" I guess you'd say. They weren't always the most pleasant creatures, like this one purple winged mare." He smirked a bit at the lunch he'd had with that particular mare.
"Topper...that's a cute name." He blinked and then shook his head, "Forgive me, I have a rather bad case of in the brain out the mouth, though I try not to make those around me feel uncomfortable." It was a weak sort of smile, but he was sincere in his apology.
Teykali's smile broadened suddenly as she chuckled a bit at her own statement, "Well there is that, I suppose it's a better way to go about things rather than worry constantly about who I'm missing in my past, but perhaps they'll come looking for me, after all this right?" He smiled and moved to the tree trunk giving it a bit of a kick.
Four good ripe apples fell down near Topper, and Teykali took two of them, "Since I'm sure you're hungry and need a good start on them before picking your own." He was polite as he spoke, not giving away that he'd seen her struggle at all, simply offering a hand without being asked.

Topper listened to his tales and stared with curiosity glowing in her eyes. "Well they sound interesting to me just with those few words, though what about the one purple winged mare? you've got me a little curious now," she said speaking the first that came to her mind filtering nothing. As she watched the smirk on his face grow, her curiosity grew more. Must have been an interesting lunch for sure, she thought in her head.
Hearing the comment about her name almost took her by surprise. Did he say he thought her name was cute? No one had ever said that to her before, everyone she had ever met thought her name was to masculine not that it ever bothered her. "well thank you, your the first to ever say that to me and no worries. it will take a lot to make me uncomfortable anyways," she said with a smile her heart beginning to warm a bit from his comment.
"Definitely, I mean if you don't stick around waiting I'm sure one day they'll come to you. Though you can't always allow the past to hold you back, I know because I used to do it myself to be honest," she said as sincerely as she could to Teykali. Never before had she told anyone that, though deep inside she knew her problem with guys was almost like his problem for she had heard. For a long time she had let it keep her from moving forward too. A smile began to grow on her face, could this guy really be like her almost? Something in her gut knew he was different as he let her guard fall more.
As she watched him move towards the tree she cocked her head to the side. She watched the apples drop in front of her, her stomach growled even more as she looked at them. "yah I definitely do I mean ...," she said as she had to fight herself to bend down and pick at the apples in front of her. "...Thanks, ... though I could have gotten some myself just so ya know." She bit into the apples and her stomach almost immediately felt relieved.
