I don't know when other states do it, but has anyone auditioned yet?
I auditioned for the 4th time this year, and finally made it! 3rd chair. 4laugh
Anyway, since I've never gone before, I want to hear about other peoples all-state band experiences!
Oh, also, the guest conductor is Samuel R. Hazo. I'm sure some of you are familiar with some of his pieces. Isn't that cool?

lol well i'm in the guard, so i can't really audition for all state, so all i know is that the older i get, the more often more of my friends are gone for a weekend and a bit...not just because they're getting older and better, but because for some reason, more people in our band are getting accepted...this year we have like almost 10 people going! for a 80-something band in a smallish school for all of california? thats crazy...i think...but yeah...i had to comment because this weekend is the all-northern honor band and lots of people are in that....
oh and, this year, when we have the most people going in a long time, of course its that same year that the leadership class FINALLY decided to add another dance other than homecoming and prom, and its sadie hawkins, AND ITS THE SAME WEEKEND AS ALLSTATE! WTF???

Geez, that's a lot of people to go.
I one of the two people that ever goes to honor band or auditions for all-state from my school.
It's cool though, because he's my good friend, so I always have someone to talk to and stuff.
He didn't make all-state though. Booo.
Anyway, that sucks that there's a dance that night.
I'd definitely choose all-state over a dance, but I can see how other's may not want too.

its not that i would choose the dance over all-state. its just that since i have never really had a reason to go (unless theres a middle school one) its kind of annoying that the one time theres another dance, a sadie hawkins one at that when i can ask who i want to, i can't cuz he's at allstate WTF rolleyes

Good job! =D I'm a junior, but I've never tried out for all-state...I probably will next year. I probably wouldn't have made it, considering they don't take many oboes and they all have much more experience than I do. xd
My friend got in on bass clarinet, though! =] Only person from our county to get in.

I have never tried out I don't think I would make it the kids from the Eastern Shore of Maryland don't usually make it cause most of us dont get lessons so we suck lol

Mr. Hazo told us that his average for conducting bands is three each month.
It's my first time auditioning for the high school all-state band.
Sadly, I didn't make it into the first band, but I got into the second band, which is alright, I guess. We still sound pretty good~

I got second part, first chair clarinet.
Which isss... third chair too.
Our concert's tonight~
I'm so excited.
But it's sad, in a way, because Mr. Hazo is just hilarious.

I was in Hawaii's "all-state" Select Band.

He's really nice, but at sometimes he'll unleash "the wrath of Hazo."

I got into All-State band this year. It was my first year auditioning because I'm just a sophomore, but I got 12th chair out of 36 for clarinet.
