Safura = Gray Kosoko =
Safura'nafsi was ever the ninja today. She had managed to escape her siblings, her mother and Theluji in hopes of exploration and fun. Much like another juvenile cub in the pride, she liked looking for places in which others had never been or haven't been in some time. She found loads of interesting things when she went on explorations, including bones, sparkly rocks and other weird trinkets. Today she was exploring the place where her brother and herself met their father for the first time. She had missed him lately, and although she was trying to make the best out of the awkward situation that was her family, she was struggling.
Safura scented the land around her, picking up a faint and stale whiff of where her father was. It'd be gone soon, and it made the little pale juvenile more than sad. She wanted to see her father again, and she knew she would. The Gods would never tear him away from them for eternity, they aren't that mean. She plopped down onto the ground where her father's faint scent still lingered and rolled in it feverishly. If he passed by, or thought about sneaking in he'd know she was here and that she missed him. At least that's what she though in her head.
Feeling something crawl across her leg slowly, Safura stopped her rolling and peaked up to see what it was. She found the biggest spider she had ever seen crawling across her leg and shriked, jumping up as if someone had just tried to attack her, "EW EW EW EW EW EW EW."
The shriek he heard was oddly familiar, and Kosoko's ears instantly perked towards the noise. It sounded like Safura -- her voice had become a constant echo in his brain over the past months, and though he'd come to terms with what it meant, it didn't make anything more comfortable. He tried to keep his distance from her, just to keep the awkwardness at bay, but he couldn't ignore his visions. He couldn't ignore what they showed him. What he could do, though, was ignore Safura, and the Gods knew how he tried. It was so hard when she had taken to consuming all of his waking -- hell, all of his sleeping moments. It wasn't this Safura, this young Safura. It was an older, more mature and breathlessly beautiful Safura. It was what he'd come to think of as HIS Safura.
With a hefty sigh he lunged to his feet, quietly moving towards the sound of the almost frantic-sounding female. Through the bushes he peered at her, dual-toned eyes catching sight of the spider that scurried away. Those peachy eyes rolled at her actions. Females, hmph. Shaking his head, he broke through the underbrush, tsking softly at her. It was almost a mocking sound. It was easier for him to cope this way, acting as if she was just a silly little twit instead of treating her like he wanted to.
"A spider, Safura? Really?" He scoffed, "You made a ruckus to wake our ancestors, and for what? A spider?"
The shuffling of the brush caused Safura to whip around to see who it was that had found her. To her surprise it was Kosoko, one of the pride's many militants. She had seen him around and even attempted to talk to him several times before, but each time he had scoffed her off or managed to slip away from her while she was distracted. It made her wonder if he just didn't like kids, but she never indulged the thought for very long; she always got distracted by something else.
"I... Well... It," Safura started, her tail flicking back and forth for a moment before she rose her head in the air as if to brush off the statement, " It was attempting to attack me! But look, you came to save me and the spider scurried away... Uhm.... Well done."
It was funny trying to see her act as if nothing was the matte and that she had things under controll. Like she was an adult, which she was far from. The moment of fake maturity came and went as she felt a blade of grass flick against her tail idly and shrieked, thinking the spider had returned. She jumped and scurried herself quickly behind Kosoko in her panic, "Is it gone!?"
Kosoko raised those strange eyes of his to the sky as if begging the Gods to save him. A twitch of the corner of his mouth hinted at a smile - maybe now was the time to get in his kicks when he could. Their futures together were intertwined, Kosoko knew that much. He turned to face her, eyes wide as they focused on something near her shoulder. "I think it's gone... no wait, it's on your SHOULDER!!" He tried to make his expression into one of horror and disgust, even went so far as to back away from her the slightest. There really was no spider there, but her overreaction of the awful murderous eight-legged creature really amused him.
He waited for her reaction, hoping for one that would make him burst with laughter.
"Oh well that's goo- EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE." Safura shrieked, Kosoko having told her the spider was still on her body.
She swiped at her shoulder the best as she could but felt nothing when she did so. What if it had moved? Oh god, it was on her back! She swore she could feel it on her back right now and it caused her hackles to raise. There had to be a solution to this. Squish it! She'll roll around and squish it! Brilliant! Safura flung herself onto the ground and started to roll around as she did earlier while scenting, hoping that the bug would be squished in the process.
"Is it gone?! Did I get it!?" She asked, still rolling about until she was given the ok. Dirt and mud began to cake the little juveniles coat as she wiggled and rolled, and unpleasant thing for her mother to get out later on.

Kosoko couldn't help himself. He really couldn't. He burst into raucous laughter - she looked so incredibly ridiculous trying to rid herself of a spider that simply didn't exist. He didn't think that she might be furious at him, and he really wasn't concerned by it. If his visions were true, and Kosoko believed they were, they would be together in time. He didn't understand it, and he didn't feel comfortable with it right now, but he doubted that his visions would lead him astray.
"Y-you got it," Kosoko gasped, choking on a laugh. Safura was absolutely filthy, and that sent Kosoko into another wave of laughter.

"Oh thank the gods," Safura sighed, heaving a sigh of relief as Kosoko informed her the dreaded bug was gone. She had heard they laid eggs in your ears that would eat your mind and than control you. She didn't want to be a servant to spiders, she was already a servant to the gods.
"Oh now I'm super dirty," She said with a frown, shaking a little trying to get as much of the dirt off of her as she could. Her mother was going to be so upset with her that she was so filthy. Her mom loved giving baths, but between her siblings and well.... Jiri, Safura being absolutely filthy might as well be like asking Kizuka to lose all sensation in her tongue.
"I gotta get clean, or else Mommy's gonna be super mad at me," She said with a worried look, "Is there a pond around here Kosoko? I mean, you know your way around the pride pretty well and stuff."

Kosoko jerked his head, indicating that she should follow him. They weren't far from a pond that he himself enjoyed taking periodic baths in. After all, it was difficult to keep his coat clean and he did not like to be dirty. "This way," he grunted, still grinning mirthfully at the dirt that coated her small frame.
"It won't take long, will it? I've got a meeting with Hoaka." He didn't want to look at this as a type of babysitting. He wasn't babysitting her, he was just trying to help her. It was easier to deal with his visions when he wasn't being an a**, and so once he'd come to terms with what the Gods were showing him -- his lot in life -- it was easier being around Safura.
Padding slowly towards the pond, Kosoko didn't wait to see if she was following. He knew she would.

Safura's ears pinned back to her head at Kosoko's words. He made her feel a little burdensome with his comment about needing to be somewhere. She wasn't exactly asking him to stay and help or anything, she just didn't know where the pond was. She sighed a little and followed after him, unpinning her ears from her head.
"Well, I dunno... I just kinda planned on jumping in and than wandering home when I was done," She murmured quietly, "You don't have to stay. I'm sure what you and Mr. Hoaka have to talk about is important."
Safura tried her best to keep up with him. It was kinda cute to watch. She'd fall behind and than doing a running gallop to get back to his side, than fall behind and repeat the process. It was adorable. She was adorable. And than she saw a butterfly and smiled brightly.

Kosoko grunted at her words. While the pride lands were usually a safe place to be (and he knew deep down that nothing would happen to her) he wasn't just going to ...leave her there. No way. He'd act pissy and cranky about having to babysit her, but it was just a show. Kosoko wasn't sure how else to deal with her. He didn't want to seem too welcoming or nice. He didn't even know why he felt that way, he just did. The knowledge of their entwined future was just too difficult for him to deal with, especially when she was but a youngling.
"It's just up ahead. Hurry up and go wash up and then I'll take you back home." His words were gruff, probably gruffer than they needed to be. He wasn't annoyed by her, just... it was confusing, even to him. It was hard to come to terms with everything, that's all.

"Oh, ok." Safura said quietly, the gruffness in his voice quieting her little spirit and causing her to act mindful.
While Kosoko was neither her mother, nor father, he was elder than her and even in being one of the High Priestess's children, she had always been taught to respect her elders; even if that meant her elders were old, grump, mean and had purple and blue all over them like Grandpa Joto did.
Maybe Kosoko didn't like kids?
It was a thought that had crossed her mind before, but than again he always seemed a little more grumpy than normal when around her. Maybe she reminded him of someone? That's no good. Whatever it was that Safura reminded him of, it wasn't her fault. She wasn't the one who was mean to him.
Giving off a small pout, Safura found herself facing down the water's edge. Maybe she would get a little bit wet and than muddy, and than go home that way and guilt her mother into cleaning her. She didn't want her mother to be mad she was dirty, but she could sure use the soothing attention of a bath right about now.
No, no... That was no good. Than Kosoko would be even madder at her because she didn't do what she said she was going to.
She sighed again, deciding that if she was going to be getting in the water she was gonna do it in style. The little female backed herself up a couple of feet and crouched down, her bum wiggling in the air as if she was going to pounce a bug. With a mighty squeal, Safura launched herself from her spot and went stampeding into the water.
"YIPEEE!"

Kosoko couldn't help his thoughts. He couldn't help but see grown-up Safura taking care of their future kids, and he couldn't help but see future daughters and sons acting as adorable and carefree as their mother did. He certainly couldn't help how uncomfortable all of this made despite how hard he tried to tamp down his visions and that's what made him most unsettled.
Fighting the urge to smile at her antics, Kosoko just watched her flounce about in the water. He shook his head and tried to look as grouchy as possible all the while knowing that this youth in front of him would grow up into a beautiful and stunning lioness, that she would be the one to bear his future children. It was surreal.
"Hustle up," he called. Sooner he could get her home, the sooner he could part ways.

Safura flopped around in the water for a little while, causing ripples and waves wherever she went. The dirt from her coat quickly washed itself away, a little waterfall of dull colored earth revealing her pretty pale markings underneath.
She starred into the water for a few moments to admire her own markings. They were just like her Daddy's. She was the only one of her siblings to have identical markings to their father. She wondered if that was why she always wanted to be so close to him.
"I miss you Daddy," She said quietly to her reflection, hoping the message would be carried across the winds and through the trees.
Her ears perked up to attention when she heard Kosoko call for her. She made him wait too long and now he was annoyed again. Quickly she rushed out of the water, almost slipping face first into the dirt once again. Luckily, the little cub had caught herself and the only thing dirty was her paws. Her mother wouldn't be mad about that, even Kizuka's paws got dirty.
"I'm done, I'm done!" She called, practically galloping her way back to Kosoko so he could take her back home like he said he would. She could have gotten back home all by herself, just like she came out here all by herself, but she wasn't about to tell him no. She liked the company, even if he was being a big-ole grumps.

Kosoko barely heard her private little whisper, and his heart grew heavy with sadness. She was a victim of circumstance. All of Kizuka's cubs were. She'd given up her chance at happiness when she'd taken her vows, and as such she'd forsaken the father of her cubs. He didn't blame her -- duty was important, and she was a gentle lioness. He often looked up to her -- and her mate, in all honesty, for he was a formidable lion -- for her gentleness and understanding.
"Come on, then," he said when Safura was free and clear of the mud. "I'll take you home."

"Okie, dokie," Safura replied pleasantly, quickening her stride so she could keep pace with Kosoko on their way back. Even if he was sort of a grumpy pants, he was still a nice lion in his own way. He didn't have to take her back home or wait for her as she washed off the dirt from her fur, after all. An although she is the Kabaila'umbikezeli's daughter, it doesn't mean he had to keep an eye on her either. Granpda Joto didn't.
Maybe she just misjudged him.
Safura became quiet as Kosoko walked her home, letting her mind ponder further on the grumpy lion who was escorting her. There was some reason for him being the way he was and she was determined to find it out. She'd ask her mother when she got home, or maybe she'd ask Uji. Uji would know...
