I have been a furry for a while now but i have kept it hidden due to not knowing if anyone i know in real life is a furry aswell im trying to tell my friends im furry but i dont know how help?DX

i used to be a closed fur ^_^ but these days.. i seem to reject concerns about how people react on such a thing ^_^ it can either be good or bad and it will happen one day =D so why not soon? =3 and still my friend seemed to accept it pretty well ^_^ i dont think about the future in that case and i also know that here in the netherlands furry is so badly populated xD and there are so many tolerant people =D
((badly populated as in almost no one is a fur here Dx))

I don't really talk to my friends about furry fandom unless they are themselves involved in it or know people who are. My dad loves my anthro art, but other than that, I think my family would think it was weird... But it's not so much of a problem with me, because I'm content to make art and post in forums and leave it at that.
I find that my art is a really good way to start a conversation about furry fandom. Do you draw? Do your friends like your art?

If I were you just tell them the most they can do is laugh ^^ Just say u like being a cute furry animal I have had dreams of being a were cat or were panther and those were always awesome! lol Wish I could do that in real life.

If they won't accept you they aren't real friends and they don't deserve to be in your presence ^^

This thread is utterly retarded. You don't sit down someone and tell them you like anime or star trek or any other fandom, why is this a different situation? It isn't that big of a deal; stop being a pansy and just tell them if that's what you want. But really, is it that big of a deal? If someone wants to know about your interests, they will ask you. If you're really afraid of people knowing you're a furry, you shouldn't tell them. The few of my friends that know what furries are hate us, but those friends are the best I've ever had so they don't need to find out.

Yeah i agree about the stigma. Not all people who like cute furries are all about hard core furry porn... its kind of like anime at first everyone thought anime was only sex while a large portion is there is a great portion that has no pornography. It's just less well known... and people have one idea about people who look at it and like it when there are people of all kinds who enjoy furries.
