Parisa had wandered a little ways away from the den, wanting to explore and play. She hadn't wanted to go by herself, but...she hadn't wanted to bother anyone. Besides, she didn't think anyone really liked her anyway. Probably jealous of her good looks. None of the others looked so much like Daddy. Parisa flicked her tail, a smile on her face. Nobody that is, but Faraji. Her smile fell. Faraji...though they had been littermates, she had never really gotten close to him. The boys frightened her, with their romping and rough playing. It was like they had their own little world...one that excluded girls like Parisa. And it wasn't just her brothers. It seemed like almost everyone she met was like that.
Parisa sighed. The girls were jealous, and the boys didn't care...even her mother was detached. Why couldn't she just make friends?

Faraji was often somewhere, doing something active. He liked his quiet times too, but they often happened after a long romp, sprawled under a bush or tree. Today he was feeling lazier though. He'd been growing crazily, becoming taller and broader in a most baffling way. In fact, he'd taken to becoming used to tripping over his own paws or scuffing a shoulder against something he was passing. He was eating enormous amounts of food as well, as was his brother. The girls were less noticably ravenous, though they too were growing.
Today he was feeling a lethargy that often accompanied these spurts of growth, and so he was lazing about the den instead of bounding off on adventures with other cubs. He had watched one of his sisters wander past, and it occurred to him that he hadn't spent much time with Parisa. Rising to his paws, he ambled slowly after her. "'Risa, wait up," he called, not increasing his pace whatsoever. He just didn't feel like he had the energy to hurry.

Her ears flicked back at the voice. She turned towards the speaker, her lovely green eyes wide with surprise. "...Raji?" She smiled, running towards him to close the distance. Maybe the boys did care...well, maybe Faraji did, anyway. Parisa still didn't quite know, but she was happy that he had wanted to follow her.
"I thought I'd have to go explore the lake by myself," she murmured. "Would you like to come?" she asked, her enthusiasm obvious.

His throat vibrated with a purr and he rubbed cheeks with her in greeting. He was a very demonstrative individual, and loved to cuddle and touch in love with his family. He bobbed his head in response to her question. "A'course I'll come! It sounds like fun." He'd been there already before, of course, but it was funny how water seemed to make things change faster than they did everywhere else. There was always something new to see or discover by the lake, no matter how often he went.
However, he also did not change his pace. He continued his slow and relaxed amble. It was a fine day, with a lovely blue sky, puffy white clouds, and now his sister with him! Nothing could be finer. He was quite content to take it slow and savor every moment. In that vein of thought, in fact, he decided to opt for conversation instead of play. "Why don't you play much, Risa?" he asked without any accusation or disgruntlement. "We all play so much, but I miss you." He chuffed softly and smiled at her. "Do you not like to play?"

Parisa, overjoyed at his affectionate greeting, purred as well at his touch. She had always seen all her brothers as disinterested, but...Faraji didn't seem that way at all. Maybe she had been wrong about them.
Why didn't she play? Parisa scuffed her front paw in the sand, turning her head away. "I thought...I thought that no one wanted to play with me," she said, her voice soft. "Everyone seemed to be okay by themselves. And you guys play so rough sometimes! I can't play like you and the rest of our brothers." She sighed, turning her face toward him. "But I do like this...maybe we can all go exploring together someday. That would be nice."

He looked at her in surprise, being caught off-guard by the idea that she thought they didn't want her to join them. It hadn't occurred to him that any of his sibs would think that, and he determined to make sure he spent time with each sister and got to know them better. "A'course we want to play with you!" he assured her, very gently bumping his shoulder into hers companionably. "It's okay to be a little flower," he continued, "but you don't have to be a lonely little flower!"
He paused to give her a lick on the cheek. "I promise I don't play rough if you don't want me to. I play nice and soft with Pawva," he informed her, reverring to their sister Parveneh. "She doesn't like rough pouncing either, so we play other things." He trotted on beside her towards the smell of water, his tail waving high. "Though sometimes I get hurt anyway," he mused. "But not on purpose." Indeed, he took careful cubbie measures as he could to ensure that his sister was safe and unhurt. He tipped his head at Parisa, sliding his thick forelock to one side. He smiled and asked, "Maybe you'll come play some now that you know? It's be lots more fun if you came too."
