This thread contains my theory on attention disorders not being a real disease. This theory is backed by 3 main points and supported by real life experiences and facts.

1) No change in behavior when on medication.
I took medicine for ADHD when I was diagnosed with it in 5th grade. The medicine, Ritalin, which is in essence, speed. Designed to speed up the processes and symptoms associated with ADHD and ADD. Why such a drug is prescribed is a mystery to me, in theory, it should make the user seem like they have worse ADHD. Anyways. I didn't notice a day to day change in behavior when I took the medicine, and when I didn't. Despite issues associated with having ADHD, I showed symptoms constantly despite the prescribed medication.

2) Vague symptoms.
Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are the key behaviors of ADHD.
Each and EVERY symptom has an explanation as to why it is vague, as well as an alternative reason beside ADHD.

Inattention? Its called not giving a damn. Thats a MOTIVATIONAL problem, not ADHD.

Hyperactivity? Have you ever heard of caffeine? Sugar? Many MANY different kinds of food and candies can create a burst of energy that could lead to this symptom. It doesn't even have to be on a daily basis.

Impulsivity? Its freaking human nature! Have you heard of expressions like, "Pulled a Rambo" "Mess with the bull, you get the horns" "He who strikes first wins"? All humans are hard wired since birth with a basic, "Fight or flight" action. As soon as danger is detected, the human brain is designed to either fight or flee from the danger, in order to protect the body. Human nature is being confused with a ADHD symptom? Very likely.

3) Real life scenarios
Ok. I have been diagnosed with ADHD. But I also am able to concentrate during a 3 HOUR ENGLISH CLASS. There is no way someone with ADHD should be anywhere near that level, especially without medication. This leaves me to believe that ADHD isn't a real diagnosed disease, but simply something to make up to explain unique individuals!
