ooc: This is for a sideplot of Treason. Quick 'hit and run' raids have been occurring more often on the Border towns. Unknown to the local humans, they are happening as dragons hurriedly find humans to capture and take back to the clan territories. They hope to give the younger generations who are ready for a Bound the chance at flight that will allow them to escape any fae that may come into the area, or if worse comes to worse, use the Bound as a temporary distraction while they run...
This knowledge hasn't reached Jay, Micheal, Roman, and dragon Dark yet. Interrupting one of these small raid groups, it has been a strange night for them as they are still unknowing of the Fae War that is starting in the lands far to the East. Some even prefer that this group remain oblivious to the war, as the Blessed Risen has been given the task of making sure the ranger of the group does not head out that way...

Believing it was 'safe' to move, she turned and answered without missing a beat. "Then you all best get to ground. Blooding the dragon took longer than I thought it did." In her head she had to replay what she thought happened. She was pretty sure she knew. If it had just been a normal burst of vampire speed, maybe she would be left second guessing, but the glow of his soul made a blur in her vision as well.
Apparently she couldn't wave it off as Roman wasn't quick enough to avoid the others present.
Sadly she was finding herself trying to decide what she wanted to do more: pity the dragon who was going to be shut in with those two all day or go shut herself in with Dark and leave those two to scramble for themselves not long before sun. "None of this! I want none of this now! If I hear another word so help me I will pin you both in the chest and drag you down by Dark," she threatened. An empty threat they all knew - unless they really did start fighting before daybreak. Then one had to question such things. It had been one of those nights after all.
At least she said that she would drag them down by the dragon. She could have threatened to leave them out in the sun...

Seeing how Roman wasn't quick with his answer and the Ranger was threatening them both. Micheal rolled his shoulder as he took a steps back as wings were quivering from the protective rage. Oh he had the strong urge to beat the younger vampire till he cried blood, but that would put them back at worse situation #1 Roman go in flames. Micheal ran his fingers through his tangle hair.
"Know this Roman, one of these days you will push me too far at the right time and hopefully Dark can hold me back."
He turned and looked at Jay, "sleep well." and continued to the cave where dark was already curled as tight as he could be with a little frighten look as Micheal walked in and then climbed on his back and sat there with his wings loosely hunched over his shoulders.

Roman knew Micheal wouldn't hurt him, or even throw the first hit. He stood there watching him blow off his steam and clicked his teeth to re-frame for saying anything that would poke the sleeping dragon. Even if Micheal went berserk he couldn't truly attack Micheal. It would only be just another painful lesson like in the past. Once Micheal said good night to the ranger Roman waited till he was gone watching his every move, till he was closer to his dragon. He paused for a second and then lightly looked at the Ranger with his dim lit eyes "Thank You." Roman said in a meaningful tone and then walked inside the cave to claim a corner or rounded edge that was made by Dark.

She almost snapped for the tacked on threat. Though she said nothing, it was a nothing like a black cloud was at the front of an incoming storm. In her frustration, she was unsure if the well wishes of sleep were truly meant or a sarcastic insult.
In the end, she knew that an outburst from her would only have made him more defensive or think less of himself, which was not her intent and would do no good. Some of this she knew was her fault. She tried to hold on to tightly to her thoughts of why she came back as the seemed like sand sometimes, threatening to tumble between her tough-skinned fingers.
When Roman walked in front, Jay woke from her daze to his thanks, confused again. She was not sure what he was thanking her for. Micheal was angry at him and he was running around out in the middle of the Border for hardly any reason that benefited himself. Was he thanking her for not denying him the sneaky kiss? Standing up to Micheal? Dealing with the arrow and the blood?
She watched Roman disappear with the last blood bucket down into the dug hole to get out of the incoming sun, her mind quickly wandering to her priorities. Fresh water was first on the list to get herself cleaned off and hopefully cooled down from the elevated tension just a moment ago. Maybe feeling clean would let her also clear her mind when it would not clear.
She dug around in the dirt where Micheal once stood and pulled at the blood and dirt stained shirt, her nose wrinkling at the sight of it. It was not just that it was soaked in blood that had bothered her senses, but that it had been Micheal's shirt dripping in that very blood. That combination had not struck a pleasant chord within as her imagination had gotten away with the thought, a silly jarred thought that she kept to herself.
With a sigh, she leapt to the air and looked for the nearest source of water, landing beside a small pond.

Risen watched for a safe distance and invisible. He didn't follow the ranger to the pond but stayed around the vampires and campsite. There was rocks and earth around to help him hide should the ranger suddenly find a way to see him. And of course he changed his scent to that of earth and rock.

His wings stretched, and it wasn't long till guilt bothered. Not one likeing the fact of staying upset he pet Darks mane. Dark not moveing from his tight curled position, with his sharp eyes watched the exit, like a guard dog. "This has been, a really off then usual night. It's not often that I cross paths with other dragons, but to fight one. I could have done more."Mich thought while petting Dark. "Probably just go straight for the bound next time Dark, it's only fair, any one of them could have gotten lucky."
"Odd your right still, She normally don't bring out her wings not unless she has to.." Dark continued watching. "Lucky, yes they would still have that." suddenly getting a kick out of beating the crap out of dragons that shun his kind in the first place, or it was just his sanity merging with Mich's at the moment either way they all came across a meal that pretty much spoiled them.
"There was alot of smells in the area, but that one caused my claws to tingle, as much as you did, I just wanted to attack what ever he was before he had a chance."Micheal frowned. "Threaten, perhaps is what was felt. Something you grew up with, you know that." "Even so, I guess we are diclared traitors." Dark said in a matter fact tone. "Don't know how or what for, this voids now haveing conflict with them."

'The reason for thanks, it was a long waited pay back, more so she been the one that has taken charge in situations. Micheal since her has been so wrapped up in her and his dragon where now it feels like that I was his favorite and now just a pet attack dog, Kiru might have been right. Jay has been the down fall of everything, but then I never seen Micheal so certain in his life that he wants her. Can't blame him, a girl that can some what keep up, bites back with some crazy ideas, a spit fire personality, pisses you off at times, with some hybrid of dark vampiric like wing with just enough feathers to make them her own beauty.' Roman's eyes were close as he kept his thoughts and feelings to himself, this is what he has been thinking, since he has been given a reason, Traveling is better than sitting and waiting to be a puppet again back at the mansion and then the hunt to kill Jay and Micheal would start again. His older than dirt uncle couldn't stop him, the girls couldn't stop him. He wasn't sure if he could stop himself many times when he lost it.
Roman then open his eyes to see where the buck was in his hands and lifted it to his lips takeing another drink. Even Full, there was a pain that was built in him that could never be fully drowned out just only clouded with being blood drunk.
"Wine would make this work a little better, where at least you can shut up and enjoy the silence for once Micheal."
'Talk talk talk, thats fine, ignore me, not I ask to be apart of your family, why am I here? I... I should just leave, go my own way.. damn like that will happen.' He lightly touched where the arrow was pulled out, it still felt tender, he then pulled out his tie that held his long bottom half of his hair and then ruffled his hair to try to relax more. Throwing his whole body back against the cold ground it felt good against his unusal warm bare skin. he swirled his fingers in the bucket o dragon's blood. Trying to find that meditative state so he could heal better, and not feel anything.
'what was that feeling, that I felt when I was healing my hand, it took me somewhere. I have to try.' Closeing his eyes he tried, but the extra mind to provoke him wasn't there, she was upset, on edge, and it's getting close to that time once again.

Her foot falls did not come near the entrance of their temporary haunt until nightfall, even if she had returned far earlier than that. Whenever she did leave, she did not stay away long if she could fathom it, wanting to keep a lookout over the three of them beneath the earth. She just wasn't sure if she was watching for outsiders now or watching the hole to protect them from each other.
Wings pressed as close as she could pull them to her after dropping from the tree she had perched in and watched from the last daylight hours. The vampires and dragon had climbed out of their cramped hideout and had come into view while she could still see them in the twilight.
They did not kill each other. That was good. Maybe they had talked something out while she'd been away as they seemed to have done at least once before.
---
"Roman, catch!" Toward him flew a bundle of cloth. Wrapped around the outside was his cloak, while inside was his damaged shirt with the holes at both the back and front stitched up. Looking it over, the stitching was bare basics. Solid, but nothing like Micheal's where he could actually make it look like the stitching was ~meant~ to be there and make it look good. This was meant to keep the shirt together and move on, more like a scar.
She kept walking until she stopped short of Micheal, another ball of cloth held up in offering, his own cloak that had been left behind with the dead dragons folded beneath it. "Hope you brought another shirt."
The texture of the cloth seemed mostly intact, a little damp, but its color was mottled from brown red to washed out pink, stains left by blood and dirt that would not come out from the pond water. Leaving it to soak for a good portion of the day could only do so much.
"We still need to find the other two horses and collect my gear," Jay said, joyless, with dark rings under her eyes. "I decided against checking out the town the dragons were heading toward. We need to move on out of this void forsaken place as soon as we can. Best we stop by the dead dragons if anyone needs a last drink as I don't know how often that will happen."
She shoved her hair out of her face for the fiftieth time that day, coarse ends scratching at her skin where she was not used to them touching. The long-lived braid was now gone, hacked off by a knife to cut through was had not been scorched by dragon flame.

When they all walked out Micheal didn't say anything to Roman, Dark Ran out darting like pup ready to run laps and then took off into the sky to stretch his wings.
Mich let out a chuckle with a smile as he watch as Dark couldn't handle the cramped space any more, and even Micheal's wings felt like stretching as he walked out and then fold them nicely behind him. His eyes darted as bulk of cloths flew towards Roman. When his eyes set on her the one detail he notice right away. Her hair. Micheal lightly took his cloak and shirt.
"Why did you cut it all?" slightly knowing that her braid had some importance to her but he still didn't know the full story behind it. "I could have, helped with it."

Roman caught the clothes and looked at the patch work and just smirked, he could say something like she should have Micheal teach her how to sew, but looking at her hair being shorter and out of it's normal braid he held back his usual comments, after all he didn't want another bolt in him. "Micheal's horse should have a couple more shirts, but I think we are about down to one now, he shredded one when he turned wolfie about 3 months ago and then little snags here and there and completely turning them into rags. Dye could change that color easily at the next town."
Roman continued as, he thought this out, for once.

Her hand paused in the air as she caught herself batting at her now-short hair again with his words. "Because it was half burnt off," Jay answered, lowering her arm. "I had to get at the back of my neck anyways. May not have gotten directly flamed, but it was hot enough to make the skin tender back there." Another reason why her hair being a shorter length bothered her; it was not only brushing against her face but the reddened skin in back as well.
With a nod at Roman, she continued. "Dye enough to hide that staining may have to wait seeing as we are skipping towns. The color will have to stay for now if that is all that is left for shirts." They would have to speed up their return trek to Isley's and see if they could not get a fresh start there.
"You can touch it up later if it bothers you so much. Maybe next camp. I would rather be far away from here right now." Her dry eyes had not completely stopped looking around the surrounding area, scouting one direction before returning to those in the conversation and darting off to scout another direction. "Let's go find those horses."
----
It was another dry night, air clear if not a little parching. There was not as much rain this year as the previous one as if the sky were making up for the drenching of the previous one. The air whistled cleanly over her wings as she flew as close to the treeline as she could without being so close to fear running into a stray branch in the dark. Flying in the day was one thing, but flying at night, she was just hoping she did not confuse the ground with the sky.
There were other important issues on her mind in addition to memories of crashing, however. The two vampires on the ground, for example. She flew because silently she did not want to see them double up on a horse. After being in the cave, forcing them to ride together would have just made things worse. And then she felt could not ride with either of the two as that would possibly spur more trouble; ride with Roman and Micheal would get openly fiesty. Could not saddle with Micheal as both their wings were out which would make for a very uncomfortable ride together as it was.
'Micheal?' she asked, out of sight of the two riders, skimming over trees far to the left. Flying made her travel faster than the two on horse, but trying to keep to the treeline slowed her down some as well as pulled her away from them often. 'Was that threat earlier truly meant, the one to Roman?'

Micheal was having thoughts of how easy or difficult it would be to fly and carry the horse. This would look funny, him carrying a horse that would probably kick all the way - or have heart failure because of it.
His thoughts paused as he looked up and slightly ahead to the black wings above the tree lines. 'No, and I am sorry if it bothered you.' He thought more about his answer. 'He just upset me to the point, where instead of lashing out physically, verbally I can say some harmful things and not mean them.'

A long silence filled in after he spoke, no audible telltale signs as to what she was thinking other than the subject was on her mind. Physically she sighed. Inwardly she felt disappointed but relieved that it was only venting and not an actual challenge.
"What was this about an agreement?" her voice said, temporarily filling the nothingness aside from the sounds of the horses and his own thoughts. She shifted the topic how she shifted her fighting style in mid-fight. "Before you yelled at Roman, you said something that made it sound as if the two of you had discussed regarding myself. Should I know the details or do you two want to keep what it is you have decided to yourselves?"
Complicated. Everything complicated was rearing its head lately. Jay figured that asking now was better than discovering later should things get worse. Many questions ran through her mind that she wanted to ask instead but if they were finding a way to work things out on their own, maybe it was for the better she did not interrupt.

'No, it's only fair. You should know so I don't get yelled at later... I hope,' Mich mentally started to explain. 'The agreement is that he would not force you to do anything for his own pleasure. He is still young. He still has no control, and... and... if he slept with you, harmed you in any way, I would disown or kill him. That is no weak threat either.'
