Greetings,
In an effort to try to get some ideas going for future meet-ups, I thought I'd propose a question to you all, and from there maybe I (and preferably many of you as well) can try to get some ideas for future meet-ups going.
So here's the question... If you could do anything for a meet-up (in or around the Portland area), what would you do and where would you go?
In other words, basically I'm asking that if you were forming a meet-up, and you could do anything with it, what would the meet-up be about? Or what would you like to do for a meet-up? What would interest you? It can be about anything that sounds interesting to you. Well, in moderation of course. Please keep this to something that could actually be done for a meet-up. No piloting a Japanese mecha or flying to the moon. razz
Discuss, and let your imaginations run wild! smile

So like KumoriCon or something? (Though that's in Vancouver this year, but that's not far.)
And believe me, if piloting a mecha was possible, I'd be doing it by now. razz

I do enjoy movie meet-ups as long as I'm able to go to them, that is. But I think we need more free meet-ups. Just because we live in the future where everything fun costs money doesn't mean that everything fun costs money. What if we had a party? With food and games and fun. I know of a lot of random fun games that don't require moneys. Or videogames?? I don't know how many people play video games but what if we had a competition on some game like a Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros.?
Also, I love Ground Kontrol, we went there for a meet-up once awhile back but there wasn't very many of us

I'd be down for a party. Make sure to include video game, too. (Mario Kart.)
Or we could meet somewhere outside, like...the Waterfront? Or Pioneer Square? Just hang out and talk?

I party would be interesting, or a video game party, maybe even an anime-watching or movie-watching party, or something like that, but I'm not sure where such a thing could be done. Anyone know?
As for just meeting up and chatting, yeah, that'd be fine too. A couple years ago I went to something like that with some other voice actors/actresses from Portland who are on a voice acting forum I frequent, and we just met up downtown at Pioneer Square (that's the one downtown, right?) and just meandered around and chatted. Kind of like we did at Lloyd Center, which we could do again, too. Could either hit Lloyd Center again or Clackamas (Star Wars Store!) or something.

yea, I like those ideas. But where we could host those is another thing. I would say my dad's house but I shouldn't just volunteer him like that, and we live up in Vancouver also.
And another mall meet-up idea sounds awesome. I haven't been to the Clackamas in awhile. Last time was for RiffTrax live

RiffTrax? No clue what that is. Is that a new MAX line? xp But yeah, malls are always a possibility. There are really only two malls that I frequent: Lloyd Center and Clackamas, and I visit the latter more frequently than the first since they opened the Star Wars Store. Not to mention Build-a-Bear's Star Wars outfits... Yes, I've shopped there before. What Star Wars fan hasn't? >>;;
As for parties, that gets more complicated. The only place I think of is someone's house, short of renting space somewhere which would get quite expensive. I'd have no idea where such a place could be rented, anyway. I have almost all of the video game consoles throughout the generations (pretty much everything but a Sega Saturn, Sega CD and a Virtual Boy), so a gaming event could, perhaps, be held at my place... Though I don't have an extremely large amount of space, especially seeing as most of the consoles are hooked up in my room. Doesn't mean they couldn't be hooked up to the 52" inch in the living room, though. Another idea is a "movie party", so to speak. Could gather somewhere, watch a few movies, bring some snacks...
One idea I'd also had, though this isn't really a "meet-up" per se, is starting a guild in an MMO of some sort. At least it would be a place to meet up and chat online, socialize, not to mention play together. Just an idea. I don't know what MMO... Probably a free one, though I'm not against a pay-to-play MMO as long as it's one I enjoy. I've played hundreds of MMOs (and have beta tested over 200), so I can always make suggestions if anyone is interested in that, too.

haha, you're funny xD But I'm saddened that you don't know what RiffTrax is. Look it up, it's amazing and funny, I'm too lazy to type out a description nows
*nod nod* I agree about the party thing. Someone's house, and I can bake a bunch of stuff o.o;
So you mean kind of like the idea of The Guild only, backwards. I like it xD

They do comedy movie commentaries? Interesting. Never heard of them. razz
As for the guild... yeah, I suppose. Just another place to socialize, I guess. And if it was something to do, something to play together, I figure that it might make at least a few people a little more active. Maybe.

XDD yea totally!! Well I dunno, I had an idea the other day but now that I'm on I forgot it =.= buut umm.... I think, maybe we should focus on really organizing a party, and I had my Apples to Apples idea a long while back, so maybe we could tie that into it? And have a party somewhere with Apples to Apples and somethin' else or other games and food and more food and sodaaaa and other beverages. I love planin' parties, as long as we can find a good place to host it is all

Sounds good to me. I don't mind helping organize something if desired. Thought I'm not sure where a party could be held...
