It had turned out to be an awful idea to try and patrol alone again.

Sailor Atlas figured that with Destiny City still recovering from the Snow Princess-induced cold snap, it wouldn't be so busy out and the most danger he'd run into would involve black ice. He'd already opted to avoid the rooftop-hopping because of how frosted over they all must have been. While senshi had an advantage in the jumping department he still wasn't so sure about the falling part of it, and decided he'd rather not risk taking one slippery step and finding out for himself.

Which left him more or less milling down the streets at ground level, maintaining an even-paced jog in order to keep warm. It was mostly uneventful. Besides his eye catching some bizarre nicks in the ice and footprints in the snow that were the telltale signs that a youma of some sort had been around recently, Atlas didn't run into any trouble. The search for the youma proved pretty fruitless -- someone must have already gotten to it. No passed-out or comatose bodies to call an ambulance for either.

In essence, it was all a grand waste of time until he turned a corner -- and there it was: a feeling of dread that threatened to yank his spine into his stomach. A definite, sinister presence, and suddenly all the shadows cast by the streetlights around him were probable causes of death.

The Negaverse was here.

And all Atlas could think about were flashbacks of the few he'd encountered, both dated and terrily recent, as his jogging slowed to a creeping tiptoe, pressing into the shadows and keeping a vigilant eye as he tried not to be found.

Mica was thankful for her leather uniform for many reasons, cold being one of them. It wasn’t thick, so she wasn’t exactly warm, but compared to those short-skirted Senshi, she supposed she was quite comfortable.

Speaking of Senshi, for some time Mica had wanted to try an experiment. Her current mission was to collect energy, which was easy enough. She wanted to see if the energy of a Senshi was any different from that of a civilian. And if it wasn’t, well, chances are her captured Senshi wouldn’t be in any condition to protest the removal of their starseed. As such, Mica was on the hunt for a Senshi. She had felt one, and was getting close, creeping along as quietly as the snow would let her.

Mica finally saw what she assumed was a Senshi, due to the strange get-up. It was a male Senshi, which made her frown. She had heard that Senshi clothes gave certain indications of rank, but this male’s clothes gave nothing away. To attack an unknown target was foolish, but Mica decided to try it, hoping to have surprise on her side.

She crept through the snow, sticking to the shadows and trying to be as quiet as possible. Once she felt she was close enough, she charged, swinging cane aimed at his skull. The crunching snow had probably eliminated any chance of surprise, so she hoped that he either would freeze up or react too slow.

The gentle crunching of snow under boots behind him was indeed enough to inform him that someone was close by. Unfortunately, it was not enough to get Sailor Atlas to react in some way before receiving a face full of cane.

Atlas whipped around and stumbled backwards a couple of steps just in time to recieve a hearty smack! from Mica's weapon. After recovering from the blow, he scrambled back several steps more, looking terribly like a deer in headlights at his predicament. There was a Negaverser right in front of him. He was alone. That cane had hurt, and she looked like she was more than ready to use it again.

The senshi had been lucky enough to get all the way to Super without getting in any serious brawls save the run-in with Scheelite and Zinkenite several months back. Unfortunately for him, this was now translating into a terrible lack of experience. He had no idea what to do -- and there was no one around to coach him either. In short, he was sort of screwed unless his fight-or-flight response kicked in and he did something.

He chose flight, and trotted backwards for a few feet before turning completely around and breaking into a sprint.

Mica didn’t have a lot of experience with Senshi, but that was not the reaction she had expected. She had expected some sort of annoying speech, or at least an attempt at fighting, not an automatic flight. It was so unexpected that Mica was thrown for a loop. She stood for a moment, just watching the Senshi’s retreating back.

Realizing that her target was getting away, Mica bent down and scraped up a handful of snow ice pieces before giving chase. Mica was closing the gap, but very slowly; running was not one of her strengths, and the snow wasn’t helping. She was a short-range fighter, so there wasn’t much she could do with such a gap between them. However, she could lob the newly-created snowball at him. Snow wouldn’t do much damage, and she wasn’t sure of her aim, but it was better then nothing. If she was lucky, the Senshi would be so high-strung that it would startle him.

The news, along with various eyewitness accounts and a growing smattering of local blogs, all agreed on one thing regarding the senshi regardless of whether they were terrorists or not: they were good at the violence thing. They possessed strange abilities that could really only be described as 'magic,' and this generally provided them an immense advantage in the asskicking department. Apparently this one had missed a memo or something.

Sailor Atlas was sprinting down the sidewalk, hoping that there was some chance that he could lose the Negaverser in spite of the fact that his uniform contained enough white and shiny accents that even the faintest bit of light effectively painted a large target on his back. But then the snowball was thrown -- it didn't hit him directly, but it hit the ground close enough nearby that he recoiled and hopped to the side a bit out of fear it might have been some sort of evil Negaverse grenade.

It was no grenade. And it left the poor senshi to slip wildly on some ice, the struggle to retain his footing giving Mica ample time to close the distance between them.

Mica saw the gangly Senshi’s struggle to keep his balance and she wasn’t one to miss such an opportunity. With his balance as precarious is it was, a mere whack to the Senshi’s legs should be enough to knock him to the ground. Then again, Mica was in a mood today where a mere knock to the legs wouldn’t be enough to satisfy. She instead charged in low, one fist cutting low towards the bottom of his ribcage.

The ice complicated things. Or at least it did for the gangly senshi, who was without the friction that was needed to scamper away from the hit, and other forms of dodging had a pretty high chance of pulling his a** to the ice if he tried them. So Mica's fist connected squarely with Atlas's diaphragm -- knocking the wind sharply out of him, and causing him to stumble and slide backwards.

The good news was that he'd been knocked away from the patch of ice. The bad news is that he had been also knocked to the ground. With some effort taken to regain his breath he attempted to wobble back up to his feet, though unfortunately he was doing this horrifically slowly.

Another opening. Mica was starting to get a tad suspicious. She’d fought a couple of Senshi before, but not of them had been so easy. This hopeless boy had yet to even attempt to attack her yet! Still, she wasn’t one to pass up what seemed like a golden opportunity. At the rate he was going, he’d knock himself out for her, and then she’d make off with his starseed.

Mica drew her arm back and then drove her elbow towards his shoulder, hoping to knock him over and down.

Rainbow Senshi

PostPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2011 7:46 am

From behind the Lieutenant, a voice cried out "Iris Rainbow Ribbon!" As the elbow swung fiercely in the boy's direction, a pale rainbow seemed to rush forward. It was painfully obvious that this rainbow was trying to prevent further damage to the other senshi.

"This is so painful t'watch... seriously..." Stepping forward from where she had been standing, a blonde-haired senshi with an excessive amount of feathers decorating her uniform and a bizarre hairstyle came into view. She had a grin on her face as if she wasn't worried in the slightest.

"Hope ya don' mind if I cut in fer a bit."

Atlas had already suffered a painful landing on that shoulder thanks to the precarious, half-iced-over terrain he'd run into the Negaverser on. It was smarting like a b***h, and he gave a hiss of pain as he finally got up, knowing for sure he'd be welcomed with a nicely-sized bruise the next morning. The theoretical bruise, then, could only double in size upon Mica's elbow slamming into it. The senshi cried out unflatteringly, and stumbled forward so he wouldn't fall again -- right around the moment an oddly familiar voice crowed from behind him.

Atlas whipped around, his boots kicking up a little flurry, hoping that whoever had entered the fray was not another enemy. He breathed a sigh of relief as he recognized the fuku of an Eternal senshi: the most powerful kind out there. However, then he made a small gasp of surprise as he noted a familiar face, and an even more familiar hairstyle, and the decorated rainbow brooch on her uniform.

"Iris!"

He hadn't seen her for over a year! It wasn't exactly his kind of a reunion, but he wasn't about to be ungrateful for it.

While the rainbow had not been in time to prevent Mica from landing another blow on her victim, it did quite successfully draw her attention. Dodging the suspiciously colored attacked required a fair amount of flexibility, and while she was able to twist out of the way, she was not able to keep her balance, landing awkwardly on one knee. Her knee voiced its protests via throbbing pain.

Bracing her arms on the ground for support, Mica took a moment to collect herself and eye the new arrival. The new girl – Sailor Iris, Senshi of Rainbows apparently – had a ridiculous outfit. For crying out loud, she had angel wings on her a**! Mica had never met a Senshi with an angelic a** – girl, did that ever sound wrong – and while she suspected it didn’t indicate anything good, it hardly looked intimidating. Another advantage of the Negaverse: respectable clothing.

Mica massaged her knee, willing the pain to die down as she responded to the girl in a slightly put-upon tone,“ If you must.”

Though she hadn't hit her mark, she had managed to do what she intended. Get the cat away from the mouse. Confidently, the tall blonde opened her hand connected to the rainbow. The rainbow vanished, and her hand closed again while the other curled around it, causing her knuckles to crackle out from the pressure.

"We'll catch up later!" She turned and flashed a grin to the other senshi. It wasn't kind, it wasn't caring. It was strictly a confident Sailor Iris grin. Her attentions then fell upon the Negaverse agent.

The outfit reminded her of that cat burglar from the Ratman series. Whatever her name was. It wasn't like Sailor Iris followed that series, since she wasn't exactly a comic book nerd. All she needed was some sort of pointy-earred hoodie and she'd match the character pretty well. Not wanting to dwell much longer over nerd stuff, she addressed the Lieutenant in a raspy voice. "Yeah... I think it's time t'make ya see some new colors." Once more, her hand crackled as her knuckles popped again.

That was her only warning as the yellow-suited senshi rushed forward. Sailor Iris had fought many before, and though she was a bit wary about the weapon at hand, she also preferred to beat things with her own fists. Dipping in swiftly as she approached, she swung a fist towards her opponent while keeping her other arm up cautiously up on guard.

No more magic rainbows were being sent in her direction, something Mica could appreciate. An honest – or dirty – first fight was more her speed. She knew how to patch up a body and in theory knew how to break one, so she thought she’d be able to hold her own against any Senshi in a physical brawl. What she didn’t account for was experience.

Outside of sneak attacks and battles where she had the element of surprise, Mica didn’t actually have much fighting experience. Iris did. When Iris charged, Mica had begun to lash out with her cane, aiming for the Senshi’s head, not expecting her feathered foe to know to make a smaller target of herself. Mica’s blow mist and she was caught off-guard by the Senshi’s fist.

That hurt.

Mica staggered to the side, away from where the painful blow had landed, and whipped her cane out in an attempt to fend off the Senshi so she could regain her equilibrium. She was on the defensive now and she didn't like it, not one bit.

Her teeth were clenched in a grin that just didn't seem to quit. The sensation of her fist making contact was a pretty good way to boost the yellow-suited senshi's mood. Why couldn't more fights be like this? Success, no matter how small, still had this way of boosting an ego. It could be good, but in this case, it probably wasn't needed.

When the Lieutenant attempted to space the two out with her cane, Sailor Iris' gloved hand attempted to latch onto it. It would have been a sweet move to be able to grab that cane, drag that Negaverse cat burglar up close, and then punch her in the face. Alas, such was not to be the eternal senshi's destiny today. The cane merely managed to touch the tips of her fingers, but was out of her reach within seconds.

"...fine, fine... ya gonna be a p***y, then lemme try somethin'..."

Experimental would have been a more accurate word. However, the blonde picked a different word others probably wouldn't have used.

"...fun..."

She leaped back, tossing a glance to Sailor Atlas, who was still just staring like a useless lump on a log. "Yeah, don' bother gettin' yer hands dirty... let good ol' Iris take care of everythin'..." Somehow, it didn't sound like she was thrilled that he hadn't tried to jump in yet. He could END this fight, and here he was, pussyfooting around.

Turning her attentions back to the Lieutenant, she clapped her two hands together quite firmly. It took her about 5 seconds for her to part her hands, and when the gloves parted, intensely glowing colored light seemed to form. For what it was, it actually looked rather intimidating, considering all of the energy used to make the arch of light.

"...hope ya like revenge..." She took a deep breath before flinging the rainbow away, aiming as best as she could for the dark-haired Lieutenant.

"Iris Rainbow REVENGE!!!"

((OOC Note: The attack is going to miss/fail, feel free to have it break down however you want xd ))

At first, the rainbow was vaguely impressive. It was large, and though it was “pretty,” Mica suspected it would also be painful. At least, that’s until she saw how it flew. It was beginning to hook well before it got to Mica. As it got close, Mica leaned slightly to the side and watched in bemused detachment as it whizzed past her and hit a wall, disappearing.

“ Well, that was… interesting.”

It had been almost amusing to watch, plus it had given Mica time to steady herself. Not wanting to give Feather Butt time to fling out another attack, Mica charged, bringing her cane forward as she ran to jab into Iris’s stomach.
