Quote:
This pride lives a darker territory of Africa that seems to be more dry than wet during the rainy seasons (though there is a lot of fog and humidity at times). Many places in the pride have no grass at all--just large portions of cracked, gray earth. Things seems generally more dark and hazy, as there are a vast amount of trees (many dead and dying) interspersed throughout the territory.

L'envoi found himself getting more comfortable with the semi-darkness and dryness of his new home each time he went out. The haze and dust wasn't all that bad really. His paws made little puffs with each step on the dry and cracked earth. Intense blue eyes were getting better as spotting the things he was looking for.

Today L'envoi had fashioned a sort of bag from vines and leaves. He could carry it in mouth as he looked for the beetles he was searching for. It was the shiny ones he wanted. Particularly the greens and blues if he could get them. So far he'd found a few green ones.

Baridi Mokovu Walked across the dry darkness that surrounded him. It was hazy and the dust was harsh in his throat. All around he could see nothing but cracked dry earth and dead decaying tress. He found this place almost inhabitable...he wondered how anyone or anything could survive here. As he walked he started to ask his mind how he even ended up here, maybe he had taken the wrong turn at the rock.

As he walked he started to notice something ahead, it was dark however and for all he could it could have been a trick of the shadows. He tried to get a better look, his blue eyes piercing through the slight fog that appeared. He cringed as he accidentally stepped on a dead tree branch and it made a loud crackling sound. He stopped where he was and even held his breath.

The insect he had been about to catch scuttled away when a branch cracked loudly. L'envoi sighed. It had taken him several long minutes to get close enough to it. He was torn between stalking the bug again or checking out the noise. Picking up his bag of already caught bugs, he decided to investigate. Besides that one really wasn't that shiny anyhow.

He turned in the direction of the crack and started toward it. His eyes picked up a white shape in the haze. "Ho there!" Was someone there or was he talking to no one? If it was no one then there would be no one to hear him. L'envoi almost giggled at the thought.

Mokovu cursed softly to himself as the male turned around. His pelt was too dark to make out any markings and too distant. As the male spoke Mokovu could tell he was unsure if he saw anything. He debated turning and running but something about this male was intriguing, like the bag that he carried."Hello" He said simply as he walked closer to get a better look at this male. He decided why run when this male seemed friendly and ready for a conversation. Mokovu loved meeting new lions, it always meant that there was more to learn. It was the reason he traveled, that and to find out what he was going to do with his life.

L'envoi flicked his ears as a voice came back to him out of the haze. So he wasn't alone after all. He decided to wait as he heard footsteps coming his way. Shortly there after a pale lion appeared. He gave a grin.

"Hey. How you doing?" He looked the other over curiously. L'envoi glanced around for any interesting insects. It seemed all the ones in the area had taken to cover. His attention turned back to the lion.

Mokovu watched the male as he approached closer to him, he seemed to be looking for something."I'm doing quite well, and how might you be?" He said with a friendly voice that showed he meant no threat. He decided to sit down, as he did he felt something creep over his foot. He shook whatever it was off and saw it land softly beside him, it was a beetle of some sort that was orange with some fiery red and brilliant gold.

"Good, good! All is dandy here." The black lion was pleased for some company. Bug hunting by one's self could drive one buggy L'envoi thought. "So what are you doing all the way out here? Oh, my names L'envoi by the way."

He couldn't contain his exclamation of delight as he saw the bug the white lion shook off his foot. With amazing speed he went to pounce on the hapless beetle. Trapped delicately between his paw pads to avoid injuring it. Long practice let him open and deposit the beetle into the bag.

"Hey thanks! That was a good find." L'envoi beamed a smile at the other.

Mokovu watched the male as he spoke, he was friendly that was for sure. As the male spoke he suddenly had his attention turn to the beetle Mokovu had shaken off. He watched as the male with incredible speed picked up the beetle and bagged it. "A pleasure L'envoi my name is Baridi Mokovu, call me Mokovu. I'm just a traveler of these lands" He said as he smiled at the black lion. "Uhmm no problem, might I ask what your doing out here?" He guessed it had soemthing to do with the collection or uhm...err beetles.

With the beetle in the bag and it securely closed again, he allowed his attention to turn back to the lion. L'envoi was interested that someone had come to these harsh lands. "Pleasure to meet you Mokovu! There's not a lot to see here, but its not a bad place. Looking for anything specific?" It wasn't exactly like he was a guard, but that didn't stop him from nosing around just a bit.

"Oh! I'm a gatherer. I find live animals and plants and stuff to bring back to be used in rituals. Right now I'm after shiny beetles like that one." He beamed again. That really would make them happy and in turn, it made him happy.

Mokovu was intrigued by this male's behaviour. A guard he gatherer he called himself, that would explain the capturing of the beetle. Mokovu was intrigued by these things he called rituals."I'm not quite sure what i'm searching for but I know i'll find it one day...Rituals you say? " He said with a curiosity that made his eyes glow. He hated discussing about his search to others for he was not even sure of what he wanted. He just knew he had to find it. Besides this males conversation was much more interesting and entertaining. It seemed L'envoi really enjoyed his role in his pride, it seemed to keep him very blissful and happy.

L'envoi nodded sagely then grinned. "No worries. If you search then you shall be sure to find it. Do not seek and it'll never be yours. I wish you luck in finding what you're looking for. May it be a long and fruitful journey." He was certainly in good spirits, spouting all that silly stuff off. A laugh nearly escaped him.

"Ah.... Did I say that? Yes well, I don't actually know any." This time he did give a chuckle. "Very closely guarded secrets and stuff. That's ok, more than I want to know anyhow. Gathering things is plenty enough for me."

L'envoi picked up his bag and started off at an easy trot. He looked over his shoulder and kept talking. As if expecting the other lion to follow him. "So, no idea what you want hu? That is a pretty tough one. Could always go to a Houngan or Mambo and see if they'll contact a Loa for you. Might be helpful, might not."

Mokovu listened to the males wise words, he spoke truth in such a riddling way but mokovu comprehended it all. He nodded his head and thanks at the wish of luck in his journey to search for the meaning in his life."I must say you gathering stuff is quite interesting enough on it's own" He said chuckling with the male at their shared words. He watched as the lion picked up his bag and broke into a trot. Mokovu followed behind as the male spoke again. more questions were asked inside his heads and he became more intrigued.
"I am so lost as to what I want in my life and what I want to do, what do you mean by a Houngan or Mambo? whats a loa?"
He was very confused and wanted answers, if there was any way he could get help in his search he would take the risk. Even if it meant putting him one step forward then two steps back.

L'envoi was amused that the other seemed to accept his silly words. Maybe they meant something to him. What was that saying? One man's trash was another's treasure. Ah well, whatever. He was happy.

"Oh it is! You never know what will be requested next. Why one time I had to hunt these mushrooms with blue spots. Let me tell you what a hard one that was!" He kept his eyes out for flashes of shiny beetles. It was almost automatic to look for stuff while on the move.

"Ah, my apologies! First a loa is a spirit. There are many kinds. A Houngan is a priest who can do lots of things including summon loa. Mambo are the same as Houngan," he grinned, "except they are female." L'envoi paused to examine a beetle, but decided it wasn't shiny enough.

"I would suggest them because they generally deal with good loa who would be more likely to help."

Mokovu listened with delight at this males humor. Searching for mushrooms with blue spots? how ridiculous. He watched as the male still kept an eye out that he could pack into his bag, it made Mokovu's smile open into a bigger grin. "They sound interesting enough" He spoke back to the male as he listened. These lions summoned these spirits, it was curiosity and interest that Mokovu felt now more then anything. He found himself studying the beetle closely as L'envoi decided to not take it captive.
"And it is safe for a rogue like me to meet these Houngans or Mambos?"
He asked as he took a step closer. He would love to come across these people soon and see what the spirits had to say.

It just seemed to Mokovu like this was a good chance to gain knowledge on the ways of pride lions and even to learn and experience new things. He was never one to give up the chance for an opportunity like this.

"Yeah, most of the time. I don't really like squishy stuff between my toes honestly." He lifted a foot and wiggled his toes. "Once I had to get this green mossy stuff. It only grew at the edge of water. So not only did I have it on my paws, but mud all over my feet." L'envoi gave a shake of his mane at the memory.

He considered a moment then looked at Mokuvo. "Well, you've gotten this far into the pride's territory and no one has challenged you yet. I'm sure if you come in peace, and bring an offering for whoever speaks to the spirits you should be fine. 'Course if ya really be worried, I'll bring you in."

L'envoi was confident he could get the other in. What he didn't know was if anyone would help him. All he could do was try.
