The Charon’s Passage rocked gently against her mooring; the water was calm; the sky was overcast. It was the perfect day for a ferry ride, Vilyum thought. “See, Áróra, isn’t the sea air nice?” Vilyum asked as he stood at the rail of the upper deck, looking out at the water.
“Mmmhmm,” Áróra replied, not really paying attention to him. She lay on a bench behind him, completely immersed in her drawing. She stuck her tongue out slightly, and wrapped the crayon she had been using in one of the tendrils that hung from the sides of her face. After looking at the picture for a moment, she grabbed a different crayon from a different tendril and continued drawing.
“Kind of a foreboding name for a ferry, don’t you think? “ Vilyum asked, as he wandered over, and then sat down next to her on the bench.
“Mmmhmm,” Áróra answered, still absorbed in her drawing.
“Well it won’t be long now,” Vilyum stated, “she should be departing soon.”

Seth didn't like the ferry much, mostly because he couldn't exactly swim and sort of feared the water below. Probably didn't help that Ily had told him about how a massive ship called... Titan-ick had sunk. So, he clung to Damon as they moved around and looked at the scenery. "Daddy, up?" he asked tentatively, pouting a bit up at the man.
"Sorry kiddo, no. You're fine on the ground. Say, look over there. Maybe you can go color with her?" Damon asked, trying to get the boy to relax. He knew Seth preferred to be up high for whatever reason, but he had to break the boy of the habit of sitting on his shoulders, as harsh as that sounded.
Thankfully, the boy's attention was diverted successfully and he was making his way over. "Hi. Can I color with you?" Seth asked Áróra curiously, shyness making his voice soft and barely heard over the waves gently crashing into the sides of the boat.

Áróra’s gaze was lost in the clouds. Oblivious to her surroundings, she sketched and then colored a picture of the birds flying through the sky.
Vilyum looked down at her busily coloring and smiled. He then stood up, stretched his arms over his head, and then made his way over to the railing of the vessel.
Absorbed in her coloring, Áróra barely heard someone ask her if he could color with her.
“Huh,” Áróra mumbled as she looked up. As she saw the boy in front of her, her 4 eyes all widened and her face tentacles unfurled, dropping her crayons to the deck. “T-t-t-tail,” she stammered, not quite able to get the word out. After a brief pause she suddenly exclaimed, “Oh my gosh! You are half tail! That is so awesome! I’m Áróra by the way!” She smiled widely at the boy and, holding up her notebook, she inquired, “Can I draw you?!”

Seth nearly jumped out of his skin at her sudden outburst, startled greatly. "I... Yah, I am. 'M Seth and sure!" he replied happily, quickly getting over his surprise. Being surprised required work and energy, and being a sloth spawn that was something he tended to not want to waste. "You have four eyes. That's so cool," he commented randomly, moving closer to the bench Áróra’ was sitting on.
Without thinking, as per the usual, the little naga flicked his tongue out and back in again in a thoughtful look. "Can I draw too?" he asked again, coiling himself up to sit on his tail rather than the cold wooden floor of the ship. He hated the cold, especially when he had to be in contact with it for a long time. Vaguely the boy wished it was summer again when the temperatures soared, instead of the below-freezing temperature he had to deal with. And snow. If there was one thing he could EVER hate, it had to be the frozen white snow he'd have to walk through.

“Hello Seth,” Áróra exclaimed, “pleased to meet you!” Standing up, she then used a thumb and finger to spread her eyes further open, “Yep, I’ve got four eyes, the better to see you with!”
“Sure! You can draw as well,” she replied nodding to herself. “Oh,” she cried out as she brought her hands up to her now empty face tentacles, “my crayons!” She then bent down and hurriedly picked them up. “Green, green, where is the green,” she muttered to herself as she searched for the last crayon. “There it is,” she happily declared as she snatched it up from where it rolled under the bench.
“Would you rather sit on the bench?” she asked Seth as held out some paper for him.

Seth giggled softly at the girl as she panicked over losing her crayons, waiting ever so patiently for her to find them once more. "No, issok. I like sitting here," he replied, wiggling a bit into his warm, coiled tail. Reaching out for the paper, it took him a moment to figure out how he could draw without imprinting his scale pattern onto it.
Figuring it didn't honestly matter, the child looked around for a spare crayon or something to use. It was a shame he didn't think to bring something to color with in the first place. Then he wouldn't actually have to borrow someone else's drawing stuff.

Noticing Seth looking around, it suddenly dawned on Áróra that she had yet to offer him any crayons to go with the paper. “Oh! I almost forget!” she cried out, “Crayons!”
She picked up the satchel that had been resting against the bench and began rummaging through it. “Where is the box…” she murmured to herself as she searched the bag, “Hmm, book… sandwich… soda… chocolate milk…. another sandwich… ooo! daddy’s goggles, don’t need those though… why is there a flashlight in here?.... another sandwich…. Ah ha! There they are! The crayons! I’ve got you now my pretties!”
She suddenly realized all of that had been said out loud and looked side to side then made a sheepish grin at Seth. She offered the box of crayons to him and asked, “Are you hungry? Would you like a sandwich? Daddy always packs too much.”

Goggled? Flashlight? Foods? How strange to carry those around on a short ferry ride, especially one during the afternoon when it was the sunniest and between meals. Then again, parents did seem to pack the most unusual things when going out on trips and whatnot so perhaps it was more usual than he thought.
Seth grinned hugely at the crayons he was offered. "Thanks! Hm? Hungry? Nah, M'good. Ate before I got here," he replied, settling down into his nice, warm, coil with the paper and crayons in hand. "Whatcha drawin?" he asked curiously, just visible tail tip flicking back and forth slowly. It was only till he got the items in hand that he realized he hadn't a clue as to what he could draw or color.

“Ok, more for me then!” Áróra eagerly replied as she reached back in the bag for a sandwich.
Digging through the myriad of objects in the bag, she suddenly commented to herself, “Ah ha! There it is.” She gleefully pulled the sandwich out of the bag and practically ripped apart the plastic baggie that contained it. Breathing in deeply, she brought it in close to her face to inspect it. “Nutella,” she exclaimed happily, realizing what was buried in between the two slices of bread. With a broad smile on her face, she grasped the sandwich in her face tentacles, and took a big bite.
Through a mouth full of chocolately, hazulnutty, sandwichy goodness, she mumbled something completely garbled. Realizing that nothing she was saying made any sense, she swallowed then repeated with a grin, “I was drawing birds, but now I want to draw you and your tail!”

Seth laughed at the happy smile on the girl's face at such a small thing. Then again, he was exactly the same way and enjoyed such simple things in life. It was what made everything so much more fun. "Me and my tail?" he asked, twisting around a bit to get a better look at it. He supposed it would be fun to draw, and tons more colorful, than simple birds.
With a soft giggle, Seth finally figured out something he could draw. "An' I'ma draw you! Be fun with those tent... tenta... them," he replied, fumbling over the word and giving up after a moment. He never really cared to learn such long, difficult words. Too much work, not enough reward.

Áróra grinned and with a nod she stated, “Yep! You and your tail; I like tails; I want to grow a tail!” She then started looking through the crayons she had on hand and muttered to herself, “Which colors to use; which colors to use. These will work!”
Looking up from her crayons, Áróra giggled softly, entwined her face tentacles around each other, except the one currently holding her sandwich and replied with a grin, “You want to draw me? You think it would be fun to draw my tentacles?” Suddenly she jumped up out of her seat, brought her hand up to her chin in a comtemplative gesture, spread her wings, and stuck her tongue out slightly. With a smile that spread from cheek to cheek, she exclaimed. “A proper pose for your drawing!”

Seth laughed at Áróra's pose, still giggling as he drew and colored with the crayons. Attempting to keep the pose relatively accurate despite his giggling, he didn't bother with drawing slowly for niceness sake. Still, to him it turned out pretty good though it ultimately was a pretty childish-looking doodle. "Tada! You like?" he asked after a few minutes of doodling, flashing her a soft grin.
Writing his name at the bottom, for claiming sake, he offered Áróra the picture. "Here, for you," he replied, pondering what sort of pose he would do for his friend in return. Deciding to go with a generic snake pose, wiggling up and out of his coil. He greatly resembled a snake being charmed out of a basket, a cute and incredibly silly looking pose which was why he ultimately chose it.

With much difficulty, Áróra maintained her pose; well, for the most part anyways; the birds flying overhead were very distracting and she couldn’t help but track their flight paths as they soared overhead. Lost in her tracking, she barely noticed that Seth was finished and jumped slightly at his “Tada!” Practically with a flash, she scurried over at his announcement of completion. “Ooooo,” she said excitedly, “It looks so pretty! You are a very good artist Seth!”
Taking the picture from him, she exclaimed “Thank you very much!”
“Hmm, now it is my turn,” she muttered to herself as she sorted through her crayons, “which ones to use…”
Giggling at his pose, she stuck her tongue out slightly and began to draw him. She hurriedly drew, wearing her green crayon down, about half way. As she was finishing, Vilyum walked over from the rail.
“Drawing a new friend?” he inquired as he picked up the bag and began rummaging through it; freeing a sandwich from its confinement in the sack and unwrapping it, in preparation for its ultimate end, inside his stomach.
“Mmhmm,” Áróra replied, “his name is Seth and he is half tail!”
“Hello Seth,” Vilyum mumbled between bites of the sandwich, “I am Vilyum, a pleasure to meet you.” He then stuck his hand that wasn’t currently full of sandwich out for a handshake.

Seth blushed at the compliment, flashing the girl a huge grin. "Thanks!" He never really considered himself that good of an artist but he supposed he was alright at it anyways. Not the best nor the worst which was perfectly fine by him.
"Hi mister... mister... Hi mister nums!" Seth greeted, giggling softly at the name and shaking Vilynum's hand before pointing at Damon who was flirting rather successfully with a group of younger women. "Dat's daddy. He's Damon," he explained, giggling and resuming his pose for Áróra. It was days like this where he was glad sitting still for long periods of time didn't cause him to pinch nerves and lose feeling in his tail. Things would certainly be difficult if that happened.

“Mister Nums is it?” Vilyum queried, an incredulous look on his face. Before Seth had an opportunity to reply, he stated with a shrug, “Very well, Mister Nums it is.”
“So,” he started as he took another bit out of the sandwich, “looks like your father is rather occupied at the moment; enjoying the ferry ride Seth?”
Áróra couldn’t help but giggle at the exchange; she quietly echoed, “Mister Nums,” to herself as she finished up the drawing. As she secured the crayon she had been using in one of her face tentacles, she took a long look at the picture, scanning it over with her eyes; Yep, it is all finished now, she thought, time to see what Seth thinks of it.
“All finished! Do you like it?” she exclaimed as she held the drawing up for Seth to see.
