Rua was trotting around the pack borders, thinking of things. He'd come to enjoy his life here. It was much more stable here, and he already had a protege of sorts and, not to mention, a beautiful she wolf to woo. His heart warmed at the thought of her and spring entered his step. But this wasn't the best plan of action for the sparkly wolf, because he wasn't looking where he was going. He let out a surprised grunt when he tripped over a pebble and face planted into a puddle. He twitched his ears and sprang back up, shaking himself roughly and sending water flying. His mane of rainbow fur was plastered against his face and he looked displeased. Her pawed at it for a moment, shaking occasionally to try and dry himself off, but to no avail. Finally he huffed and got back up, kicking some dirt in the puddle for good measure before he trotted off again. His anger passed quickly though and soon he was thinking of his fair maiden again and a smile broke out on his face.

This...had to be the worse situation she had found herself in in quite some time. Go figure, Rabbit thought to herself as she tried to figure out not only how this happened, but how to get out of it as well. She had been walking along minding her own business when the ground seemingly opened up from underneath her and swallowed her whole. That, however, was not the worst part. No, she could deal with being stuck in a hole, as it had happened enough in the past to be not so bothersome. What truly bothered and worried Rabbit beyond anything else was the fact that her beloved best friend Blackavar, was perched at the edge of the hole above her and she could not reach him.
"Blackavar!" She yelled up to the obviously frightened rabbit, trying to get his attention off of his current predicament. "Don't worry, I'll get you." For the possibly hundredth time now since she fell into the hole Rabbit tried her hardest to climb her way out, but the hole was too deep and the walls too steep and slick from mud to give her paws any purchase. She was nearly frantic with worry now, what if that crow came along and plucked Blackavar from where he lay? If anything like that happened she would be completely devastated, the only thing in the world that mattered to her was her little friend. "Oh please don't cry, we will be okay." She tried her best to sooth not only her own fears but Blackavar's as well.

The large male paused when he heard a voice crying for help in the distance. His ears pricked forward and he sprung into action. He bounded forward and thundered over towards the sound, calling out. "I'm coming! Rescue is coming!" He barks, and skids to a stop just before falling into a hole. He blinked at a small, very dead, rabbit beside the edge. This unnerved him slightly, but he quickly forgot it when he looked down to see a brightly colored female, trapped in the hole! This could not do! "Miss! Are you all right?!" he asks in a loud voice, the sound echoing off the walls of the pit. "Is anything hurt?" He had to rescue her! Every fiber in his being demanded it!

At first when she heard the distance voice she worried it would be one of the pups from the other litter coming to take advantage of the situation and steal Blackavar if only to torment her. But then when the male peered his head over the edge she blew a sigh of relief. No it wasn't one of her rivals, instead it was the newest wolf to have joined the pack, Rua she believed his name was. Names didn't matter at this point. "I'm fine." She called up to him, standing on her hind legs, front paws resting against the walls of the hole as she looked up. "Is Blackavar okay? Please tell me he is uninjured, I know he is terribly frightened." Perhaps she could get him to somehow safely lower Blackvar down to her so she could properly check him over.

Rua wags his tail when the female appears to be all right. He didn't know her name since he hadn't introduced himself to everyone yet, but he recognized her by her bright pelt. His brow furrowed at the mention of someone named Blackavar. He looked around, then looked down at the dead rabbit. "Who is that? This dead rabbit?" He asks bluntly, very confused why she would be concerned about it. He wondered why she'd named old carrion, since it seemed odd.

Rabbit had opened her mouth to answer his initial question when one word stopped her. Dead. No, she wanted to scream in pain and terror. No, he couldn't possibly be dead, he was safe on the ledge, scared but safe. Once again she tried to claw her way out of the hole but only managed to get a short way up before falling back down. "No." She said quietly as first. "No! He is not dead. Please I must have him, he is just scared." Her eyes pleaded with Rua, she didn't care if she spent eternity in this hole, as long as she had Blackavar with her.
Rabbit watched Rua carefully now, would he help her or just hinder her more? She felt insulted over his comments about Blackavar, she knew in the depth of her soul that her beloved friend was okay, but she would feel so much better if he was with her. "Get me out or give me Blackavar, I don't care but I must be with him." There she even gave him an option, of course either one would give her what she wanted.

Rua was puzzled by her reactions. Who was she talking about if not this dead rabbit? Well, the rabbit would only hinder the rescue process anyway. He needed to get her out first before they could go looking for the rabbit. "All right, I'll get you out. Hold on a moment." He says and looks around for something, anything he could use. His eyes settle on a thick looking vine and his gaze brightens. He trots over and starts to tug a bunch of them off the tree, figuring more than one would be stronger. He drags them over to the hole, and pauses a moment to tell her what he was going to do. "I am going to drop these vines over. Now, you grab them with your teeth and hang on and I will pull."

Relief flooded her when he stated that he would get her out of the hole. Good, the sooner that happened the sooner she could have Blackavar back. When he disappeared Rabbit wonder's just how long he would be gone. But as luck would have it, for once in her life, he returned shortly giving her instructions on what would come next. Rabbit nodded and waited for him to toss the vine down.
When he did she eyed it cautiously for a moment. Would this hold her weight and allow her to escape this hold? Boy she hoped so. If not, well then he would just need to lower Blackavar down to her. Finally after a moments hesitation she took hold of the vine in her teeth and called up in a barely muffled voice. "Okay, pull!" She had learned early on how to talk clearly while holding something in her mouth, that way she didn't need to truly set Blackavar down in order to have a conversation.

Rua nods slightly, since he didn't posses the skill of talking with his mouth full. He grunts and stiffens his legs, then starts to take slow, steady steps back. He began to slowly pull her up, his face screwed up in concentration. Part of him was immensely pleased he was able to preform an actual rescue. This was much more substantial than filling in puddles or burying rocks, but those things were good to. He grunts with the effort of dragging her weight, but amazingly the vine holds and her snout peeks over the edge of the hole. His tail gives a brief wag before he keeps tugging on the vines, which were quickly starting to deteriorate.

Rabbit's claws scrapped at the earth as Rua slowly pulled her out of the deep hole. Just as she was nearing the top Rabbit could see that the vine was starting to give way, it would not hold her weight much longer. "Pull faster!" She yelled at him and began clawing more frantically to get out. No matter what she refused to fall back into that hole while Blackavar was still lying here scared. Sheer determination kicked in and with a bit of grunting and flailing of her legs Rabbit managed to pull herself the last little bit out of the hole. Panting heavily she laid on the ground for a moment trying to catch her breath and bury the utter relief she felt to being back on solid land again.
Then in an instant her panic kicked in again. Where was Blackavar? She was immediately on her paws, careful not to get too close to the hole again and then she saw what she was looking for, her dear friend. He was still lying near the edge of the hole and Rabbit very carefully picked him up. Padding several feet away from the hole Rabbit then set the dead rabbit on the ground and gave him a loving nudge, it was only then that she looked at regard Rua. "Thank you....uh..." And then she remembered that she didn't know his name.

Rua's ears flattened as he gave a grunt of effort. His muscles tensed from the strain and he kept pulling, giving one last jerk on the vine as she was finally freed. He sat back heavily on his haunches and panting, grinning happily and looking very pleased with himself. He panted for a moment, watching in puzzlement as she nudged and picked up the dead rabbit like it was her best friend. He shivered a little at the sight. But he was pulled back to attention when she asked for his name. His rainbow tail smacked the ground lightly and he bobbed his head, quickly standing up and giving a small bow. "My name Is Rua, miss. Are you sure you're all right?" He asks, taking a hesitant step forward to make sure. He thought she might have rattled her brains from the way she was talking to the dead creature.

Seeing that Blackavar was indeed safe, uninjured and just a little stressed let Rabbit blow a sigh of relief. She had worried that all that time perched on the ledge prone to attack from crows would have done more harm to him, but he seemed to be fairing quite well. With her attention on the male who saved her Rabbit finally had a name to put to the face. "Rua." She repeated, and then when he took that step forward she instantly used her paw to pull Blackavar closer without moving her eyes away from Rua. "I am fine, so is Blackavar thank you."
Indecision pawed at her for a few moments and she wondered if she should introduce herself. Well he had just saved her from that hole and thusly helped reunite her with Blackavar. "I'm Rabbit's Luck, but most call me Luck, or just Rabbit." Of course she kept her fathers favor nickname for her, Bird Bait, to herself, there was no reason for Rua to know that. "You're....new around here right?" She was certain she had seen him around the pack for some time now but he could be just a traveler staying a few days before moving on.

He still wasn't convinced she was all right. It was just so strange how she treated the dead rabbit that he couldn't get his mind off it. Then he gave himself a shake, deciding he'd ask Oath about it later. Instead he smiled gently and wagged his tail slightly. "I am glad, miss." He says and relaxes some. His primary goal had been obtained; the damsel in distress had been rescued.
His ears twitched when she introduced herself and he pulled himself away from his musings. "That is a pretty name." He says honestly. "And yes, I am new. I was allowed into the pack a few days ago." He says matter-of-factly. "This place is very nice. Don't you think so?"

Her name was pretty? Ears pulled back against her skull for a moment and then raised back up, no one had ever said her name was pretty before, she had always been fond of it even if there was some sort of irony behind it. Of course the fact that he was so new to the pack yet so willing to help her out spoke a great deal about him. Generally Rabbit shied away from the others, they saw her as an object of entertainment or just ignored her completely. But Rua had helped her when she had needed it the most, even her father wouldn't have done that, Winner would have likely stolen away Blackavar and left her in that hole to rot.
Her eyes finally peeled away from Rua for a moment and glanced down at Blackavar laying safely tucked between her front paws. Poor thing, he would need a good nap after this. "I guess." She answered his question with a shrug of her shoulders. Having never been anywhere but in these lands it was hard to know if it was truly a nice place, or if there were places out there that were far more beautiful than these lands.

"Hm." He says, considering what to do next. "Is there any assistance you need? Maybe some food?" He offers and wags his tail more. He wanted to be helpful and make sure she was absolutely okay. She seemed sweet enough, if a little shy. He wasn't much of one to judge though. The only thing he cared about was saving the world from evil. But, if a wolf was evil, then he would care. Everyone else were potential friends. Friends needed to be protected and cherished, so he tried to make as many as he could even if he came off as odd. Which he usually did.
