Rain had been what greeted the young demon when he stepped foot out of the cab and stood before the tall gates of Amityville Academy. There was only a beat up duffle bag he clutched tightly in a hand protected by the fabric from overly long sleeves.
The pink haired teen gave a sigh of relief before starting off for the dorm area of campus or what he believed to be the dorm area on campus. Charlie was illiterate and there for the location of where the demon dorms was exactly was a bit of a shot in the dark. The demon didn't mind though because it was an adventure right?
Well it ended up being quite an adventure because Charlie at first did not make it to the dorm area. He some how found his way to the cafeteria, the gym, the school office and just every where. A kind gnome finally did point him toward where the dorm area was exactly but did not tell him about the different species dorms.
So when Charlie laid eyes on the first dorm house that he came across he naturally assumed it must be the place he was to stay. It looked cozy and the little demon was not picky having mostly slept in a broom closet his whole life. With a dopey smile the demon made his way up the path toward the undead dorms.

Amrita was getting better. Really she was! Death Charm no longer made her scream at the top of her lungs, and on a good day she'd even allow the cat-sized fire beast to lay near her feet. On really, really good days? She even took him for a walk. Even if her idea of taking Death Charm for a walk consisted of letting him follow her around without trying to run away. See? She was getting better! There was still obvious discomfort and hesitance towards the pet, but at least most of the screaming stopped. Most of it.
Today was apparently one of those 'really really' good days, as she left her room open for Death Charm to follow her, and was heading upstairs to go outside, not looking back at the creature that was trotting after her.
"Ah!" The little Undead cried out, opening the front door and quite literally walking into someone, getting a facefull of fabric as a prize. "I'm sorry! Sorry!" Was the next panicked and muffled words out of her mouth, stumbling backwards and rubbing her face. Shaking her head, she peeked open an eye and looked up; complete body, horns, wings...a demon?! What was a demon doing in the Undead dorms?!
"U-Umm...uhhh...H-hi...?"

Charlie had no idea that dorms were by species so his reaction was not 'Oh maybe Im at the wrong dorm'. Nope. Instead he greeted the undead ghoul with a huge smile even though she'd just bumped into him.
"You have a hard head," Charlie crossed his arms and tilted his head to the side examining the ghoul before him. "Wish my head was that hard. Would come in handy for all sorts of adventures man." The demon unfolded his arms and extended duffle bag free hand toward Amrita as a friendly gesture. "I'm Charlie. Nice to meet you hard headed ghoul."
It was quite clear with the horns and the wings and the huge smile that he possibly had no idea where he was. A demon in the undead dorms willingly usually was not the norm.

Wide eye stared up at the taller teen, her expression dropping into embarrassed distress when he commented on her head. "N-No it isn't!" She tried to argue, grabbing the sides of her head with her reversed hands. She was pretty sure her head was normal hardness! Christof even called it soft once! "Y-you have horns! I...I bet it's plenty hard!" Then she found herself staring at a hand...well, she assumed there was a hand under all that blue fabric. It was a pretty blue, almost Tahki-blue...her mind derailed into thoughts of whether or not this demon knew Tahki. Or even Johan! Because people who wore or had blue on them clearly had a club.
She wasn't sure if she liked this nickname though.
"Amrita!" She gasped out, hoping he'd not keep calling her 'Hard Headed Ghoul'. "I'm...I'm Amrita! Nice to meet you, um, Charlie?" Blinking at how....very friendly he was, she reached out with a reversed hand to at least try to shake his. She missed, and ended up catching a handful of fabric just below his fingers. Oops. Oh well. It was shaken anyway. Maybe he had invisible hands.
"Umm...I don't mean to be rude but..." Gulping, she continued timidly. "Wh-What are you doing here?"

Charlie lifted a brow when Amrita missed and grabbed onto his sleeve instead. It hadn't clicked that she possibly just could not see the hand under the fabric. Charlie didn't point it out though that she had missed his hand completely and instead wrote it off as she possibly maybe needed glasses. This caused the demon to reach into his bag and pull out a pair of dirty, obviously once thrown in the garbage, pair of 3D glasses. One of the lenses had been popped out even.
"Here take this bro. You need it more then me I think," The silly smile never wavered as he offered the 3D glasses.
"What am I doing here? Moving in. This is the dorm area right?" Uh oh maybe the gnome had told him a fib.

"Uhh...T-thank you?" What a strange gift! Thoroughly baffled she did take the glasses, taking a moment to put them on her face; they sat awkwardly on her half-nose, and when they started to slip she only barely managed to catch them in time, instead putting them on her head, pushing only some of her hair back from her face. She didn't want to hurt his feelings by not using them or commenting on how weird it was, and instead just didn't say anything more about it.
"...W-well yes, but...but this is the Undead dorm!" Wasn't it obvious? This dorm was usually voided by demons! Well, demons that didn't have business here; like Livi, he was there often. Mostly to make her wear something nicer than her usual yellow sari. But still! "Aren't...uhh, aren't you a demon?"

Charlie lifted a brow at the ghouls statement that these were the undead dorms. "Undead?" It had not been obvious at all to the demon that these were the undead dorm. In fact he hadn't figured that the school would split up species. Charlie was a lower class demon though and often mingled with multiple species with no problem.
"I am a demon bro. That's just silly they'd have a special undead dorm. Whelp. Guess you should point me toward the way where the rest of the students are stored since the undead get this fancy dorm. This is so not fair bro."
Well.. okay maybe he didn't fully understand the dorm concept just yet.

Okay now she was just confused. Why did he keep saying bro? What? Just...what? She had half a mind to put her hands back on her head in a 'bwuh?' manner, but as it were she was too baffled to move. Her brain was starting to hurt, too! Oh jackdamnit this was Lucien all over again! ...Charlie won't want to take her flying, will he?! Oh she hoped not!
"But...all the species have dorms!" Amrita informed him, shyly trying to defend the Undead dorms. "There's...Undead, Ghost, Monster, Reaper and Demon!" She counted off on her fingers, pausing for a minute to fix the dirty old 3D glasses on her head. It didn't get sink in that he might not have seen the signs to the dorms, or that he couldn't even read them to begin with; as far as she was concerned, he was just weird! Very very weird. The weirdest demon in the history of weird demons. Was there a history of weird demons? There should be. He would be in it,
"Umm...If you go that way there are signs to the Demon Dorm..." One hand on her head to hold the glasses in place and the other pointed down the pathway, towards a distant fork in the road.

Now it was sorta coming to the young demon. He was at the wrong dorm. Oh. Where was the fun in having everyone separate though?
"Seems silly man to have everyone split up like that. Would be a lot better if we had super fun time all together in the same building. Could have like parties and s**t all the time."
No it hadn't dawned on the demon that part of the reason they were separate was that each species had its own needs. Like the fact the undead dorm was colder then most to preserve the rotting flesh and the fact that the monster dorms catered to plus sized ..well.. monsters.
"But what ever man. Its cool. So uhhh... " Charlie eyed the girl for a moment, "How do I get to the demon dorms from here?"

Charlie clearly wasn't a normal Demon.
Sure she met a few demons who would probably agree with him to a certain point, but for the most part the races were pretty okay with being separated...as far as she could tell. She only really came to this conclusion because she had never heard anyone whine about it before until now.
"...You go down that path." Amrita repeated, pointing to the path behind Charlie. "And follow the signs." Maybe this Demon was an undead one? "I've...never been there so...I dunno. It should be written on the signs though." She assured him sympathetically.

Reading oh jack! The bane to this demons very being. Reading signs? Charlie was aware that not being able to read was a bit a typical in most modern settings.
"W-well okay then... Right. So I'll just be off... and read the signs then.... like any normal student... cause I can read," With each little bit of phrase Charlie had taken a step backwards toward the way he had come in. He turned to one of the signs that was clearly a map of all the dorms and just stared.
Maybe these letters would magically make sense to him and he wouldn't have to confess to the undead ghoul about his reading problems. Maybe. Being optimistic helped most times. Right? But none of these squiggly marks were making much of any sense to the demon at all. Charlie bit his lip and looked back over his shoulder at Amrita almost as if to give her a silent plea.

Charlie's long, drawn out spleal made her face go blank. Internally she was trying to figure out why he kept repeating himself. Yes, reading signs, students did that. Everyone could read! Well, except for infants. Hell, if she could read there was no excuse for a proper Demon to not be able to! Thus, she came to the conclusion that Charlie could read, he just had several marbles loose and rolling around in that pink-haired head of his.
It was the only explanation.
Still, she stood there in the doorway, holding the door open and just...watching him. It was a good thing she did too, as she soon recognized the pleading look he was giving her. What...did he want? Were the signs eaten by some wood-munching beasts?
Curiousity winning, she stepped out of the dorm and closed the door behind her just after Death Charm lept out onto the yard, and headed down the pathway to stand beside, but slightly behind, Charlie. She was staring at the board; it looked intact! Maybe...Oh! Maybe he needed glasses!
"Are you okay? Do...do you need these?" She asked, gesturing to the broken and dirty 3d glasses sitting on her head.

Quote: Amrita was offering the 3D glasses he'd just gifted her back to him. Charlie could only scratch his head in confusion. "No no those are for you to keep." Baffled still Charlie continued, "Umm.. I think.. I would .. I would.." Here was the part any sensible person would lie and say they needed a guide but not Charlie. " I.. I .. NEED HELP BECAUSE ONE OF MY LEGS IS SLIGHTLY LONGER THEN THE OTHER!?" It was a question and a statment wrapped up all in one. A nice package of confusion neatly wrapped for Amrita to unwrap as she pleased. Not to mention all beings had one leg slightly longer then the other. "So.. Ugh.. Signs are just scary to me bro. " Yeah that made sense. The perfect lie. "Oh." Was all she could really say about keeping the glasses. Well, if he didn't need glasses, why was he having a hard time reading the guide board? Wel---Oh, there he went, explaining. Loudly. What was left of her nose wrinkled in confusion, listening to him yell and explain but kind of question...this Demon baffled her more than Lucien did, and that was saying something! Luckily for Charlie, Amrita didn't know that everyone had one slightly longer leg, and so she dropped her gaze curiously to his feet. Odd, they looked right? He must have had special boots. They were very nice boots, too.
"...Oooh." She breathed out, nodding like she knew that all along. Because of that, signs scared him? If all Demons were like this, it was no reason the vast majority of them were grumpy. Her Demon friends excluded of course, except for sometimes Livi.
"I...I didn't know that! I'm so sorry!" Amrita whimpered, hoping her blatantly confused stares didn't offend him. If one leg was slightly longer than the other and that made him afraid of signs, this was a terrible, terrible thing! "It must be very scary around here!" There were signs everywhere! Poor pink haired Demon. "I'll...I'll help! Uhmm, see, this is where we are---" She moved onto her backwards toes, tapping at the skull that denoted the undead dorms. "A-and this is your dorm...." The little girl paused long enough to find a stick on the ground before pointing at the marker for the Demon Dorms.
"S-so we go that way." Now, she was gesturing to the path that led away from them. "Sh-should I come with you...?" Incase there were more horrible, horrible signs to confuse his uneven legs!Quote: The fact that Charlies terrible lie worked did not surprise the young pink haired demon. Infact it would have given the little guy quite a shock if it had not infact worked. That lie had been ace in the demons book. "So.. yeah." He cleared his throat, "Would you mind showing me the way har-.. err.. Amrita? Cause its fine if you don't want to. I'll just hobble around... and .. hobble around some more.. you know lost..... with my hobbling... and all alone... not knowing where I should be going." Dramatically Charlie turned his back on Amrita and gave a very fake limp like walk that had CLEARLY not been there before. It hadn't accorded to the demon that he would probably lose brownie points in the way of lies for not thinking this all the way through. Though, to be fair, Charlie hardly thought much of anything through.. EVER. What was he going to call her...? Oh whatever, that wasn't important.
What WAS important though, was the thick helping of guilt he was serving her. With an expression that could only be described as "OAO", she watched him turn and hobble pathetically away; he was so convincing she didn't even realize that the limp hadn't been there before! Before he could get too far away from her though, she yelled in a panic.
"NO WAIT DON'T GO!" Sure it was probably too loud and dramatic for the shortly hobbled distance, but there it was. The little Vetala moved forward as fast as she dared, tripping near the end to end up practically hugging the young Demon around the waist. "I'll help! I'm sorry! You don't have to be alone!"
Quote: A squeeze around the waist almost mad the young pink haired demon jump. He lifted his arm to look and see the undead girl hugging him. Charlie had expected this illy thought out plan to work but he had not expected this plan to work so effectively. "Whaa.....?" Surprised and a little dazed Charlie just stood there awkwardly with Amrita hanging around his waist for some time before his mind started its wheels turning up again. "...Soooo you'll show me the way?" Amrita must have been one of the first people any of his plans had actually worked on. This pleased Charlie very much. Very much indeed. It was lucky for Charlie that Amrita was easily fooled.
"Yeeees~!" Amrita whined out, happy that he had at least stopped being pathetic and guilt tripping her. Then, of course, she realized she was clinging to him and she let go with a squeak, her backward hands perched closer to her shoulders. "S-sorry! Uhm, this way..." There was a very idle gesture to the path they were both already on, only she was gesturing in the OTHER direction; apparently Charlie's hobble was still the wrong way...which really only helped his cause.
"Ready?" She question timidly, holding out a hand for him to take if he wanted. It helped to hand-hold if you had trouble walking, she learned that with Lizzy in Christmas Town! Probably.
Quote: Charlie happily grasped the undead girls hand with his fabric covered hand o his own. "Ready!~" He chirped at Amrita. The so called limp seemed to have completely vanished too as he had no trouble at all taking steps toward Amrita to grasp her arm. "On ward now hard head! Adventure awaits us!" The sudden lack of limp only solidified the point that holding hands helped one walk better. It was the only explanation.
"....M-my head isn't hard! Why would you say that?!" She said, staring up at him with a wide eye. Her head wasn't hard! Charlie was crazy, so crazy! Or Delusional. Wait, weren't those the same things?! "Adventure...? It's just a path?" Either way the little undead fulfilled her promise of helping Charlie to the Demon Dorms, but once the dorm was in sight she started to walk a little slower, looking conflicted.
"There...Uhm, That's your dorm." She explained lamely, biting down on what was left of her lip. "I...I don't think I'm allowed in though?"
Quote: "Not allowed in? Ooohh was I not allowed in your dorm? Im sorry..." Charlie scratched his head as he released Amritas hand. The limp seemed to have been completely forgotten as he took a few steps closer to the dorm. It made the demon frown some. "Well this sucks.." The frown did not leave his lips. "Guess .. This is good bye hard head... "Oh, it's not that! Just...Demons generally don't like not-demons in their dorm, but there's no rule...?" Still, knowing she wasn't wanted in tehre by the vast majority of Demons was enough to get her to not want to go in. She wanted to get away from here as quickly as possible before Charlie guilted her into something else, but before she could leave he called her that name again.
"Nuh huh!" She whined, more to the nickname than to the goodbye. "Why do you call me that? My head isn't hard!"
Quote: "I wouldn't mind you coming to my dorm," Charlie pressed his lips into a pouty face. To anyone watching it would almost look as if Charlie was mocking Amrita but that was not the case at all. Charlie was really pouting. Truly the boil was in distress about his first friend not being able to come and visit. Truly. Charlie scratched his head at her consistant disapproval of the nick name Charlie thought was more of a compliment. Clearly the two were hitting some sort of miscommunication. "Well... I can call you Amrita I guess. Not as exciting but..." Amrita stared up at him as he pouted at her. Guh, there he went again, making her feel guilty! She couldn't help but pout right back at him. He wasn't playing fair! That wasn't fair! The little Vetala looked between Charlie and the Demon Dorms, fidgeting again in discomfort.
"W-well if...if you really want me to visit you'll...have to meet me outside?" She definitely didn't want to be inside the Demon Dorms on her own! That was just way too scary. Toooooo scary.
"Just...why do you call me that?" She didn't understand the nickname; she apparently already forgot about the name popping up when she first ran into him.
Quote: Charlie gave Amrita a big hug when she finally reluctantly agreed to the possiblity of visiting him if he met her out side first. To Charlie that was a yes carved in a boulder made of diamonds meaning it was a for sure yes. The demon squeezed Amrita one last time before releasing her. A goofy grin rested on his face from all the excitement now rushing to his brain. "... Oh Hard head? I forget," Charlie shrugged. It seemed that Charlie had already forgotten the reason him self in the middle of all the excitement. "Hey its a cool nick name though and you do have a hard head. I m impressed by it," He grinned like a cheshire at her. The sudden hug made her squeak, awkwardly patting his back as well as her trapped arms would allow. When he finally let her go and looked a little baffled, though she was pretty sure she just lost an argument or something. It took her a little while to realize that even remotely agreeing to Charlie was probably a very dangerous thing; actually, she hadn't realized it yet, but she had a very odd feeling of impending doom looming over her. Rather literally, considering their height difference.
"...I...I don't have a hard head!" She argued pathetically for what seemed like the millionth time, her free hands lifting to hold the sides of her head. Christof said her head was soft! Well, the skin was soft. Too soft to hold a skin graft to fix the skull half of her face. Charlie was missing something, at least a couple marbles.
"....Thank you?" It was a weird thing to be complimented for, and she really didn't agree with him at all. Soon enough though, she realized she couldn't win this. "I...I guess I can't stop you..." From using the nickname, of course. She was pouting up at him in the same way he'd pouted at her.
Quote: Charlie's grin vanished for a small while as Amrita pouted. Was she really that modest about how awesome her head was? It confused the demon to say the least but he didn't argue. "Amrita.. " An attempt to not call her hard head was made but not happily. The clear look of disappointment hung on the pink haired demons face from A to A of Amrita. Not that Amrita wasn't a good name but it wasn't a nick name. Charlie would have to use the nick name in secret maybe in his audio journal logs. Yeah! A secret knowing gring popped back up on Charlies face. It was as if he knew something ghastly and wasn't sharing with Amrita. Oh yes. "...Yes?" Her head tilted a bit when he called her name. The look of disappointment was also stabbing at her feelings, and that impending-doom-slash-guilt just wasn't going to go away, was it? She was about to submit, to let him call her hard head ('just don't look at me like that anymore aaaaaa' would have followed), when he started to grin. Well, that mostly solved the problem. Grinning was...better than pouting.
Still, she couldn't help but shiver a bit, that was one creepy smile!
"S-So! Uhh....yeah..." Subject change, please?!
Quote: Charlie patted Amrita on the back. "I'll catch you around some time Har-eer-Amrita~" He gave Amrita one last big hug before grabbing his bags and skipping off toward the demon dorms. It was an odd site, a demon skipping and whistling at that!? The dreary demon dorm loomed in the not so far away distance to set the scenes mood. An odd one that pink haired demon. She wasn't...quite sure what happened, but she was pretty sure she'd figure it out sooner or later. The little Undead watched the Demon skip away, and with a clearing shake of her head she turned and headed back to her own dorm.
