So I'm an American that is into many different cultures and history.
My Great uncle dead in combat in WW2 overseas and I was wondering if anyone else had an ancestor story from WW2? I also like learning about ancient history, customs and ways of life of other cultures.
Any topic really.

Lol I'm Canadian.....so not exactly international but I'll help where I can!!
My grandfather lived through WW2. He was 15 and told them he was a year older so he could get in. He was a code breaker on submarines and fought for Italy. Near the end of the war he was scheduled to board a sub, but his schedule got changed spontaneously and that sub and it's crew were blown up a couple hours later.....When the war ended he brought his family over the Canada and married my grandmother who's Japanese!! I think he was 21 when he left Italy. smile There you go! A slice of my history!!!! biggrin biggrin

thanks for the info I love there folklore and history. Its a really cool culture. I'm doing my own study on WW2 and the countries involved. I also like Japanese history. Im not so interested in my own country history unless it comes to the wars. Some things I find interesting like how people lived.

I'm British, my grandma and grandpa were evacuated during the war; they were kids at the time. Apparently it was great.
I did have a great-uncle who was gassed, not sure which war that was...
Apparently a lot of family members died fighting, I don't really hear much about the war though.
My mother lived in Northern Ireland, during the Troubles, and I prefer hearing about that stuff really. I'm quite happy about my irish heritage and often wish I lived over there.
