 ((Setting: [X]))Aella stood at the edge of the quiet stream, head bent to lap at the chilled waters. She supposed she had winter to thank for it's sluggishness, what with all the frozen liquid everywhere and the air so cold that not even water wanted to move fast.
And that led her thoughts on another tangent, wondering what this stream would look like in the spring when everything melted. Would she be here to see it? Maybe, depended on whether or not this place could continue to support her for the rest of the winter. So far so good, but one never knew.
Her mood suddenly switched from slightly brooding to slightly cheerful with no real signal as to why. Perhaps her mind was just tired of any doom and gloom thoughts, or there was something her subconscious knew that it wasn't sharing. It did that from time to time, annoying thing.

 Ilan stared dully at the snow beneath his paws. It had fallen in thicker while he was asleep, and now the icy stuff was making his toes numb. The Daeva rolled his eyes, then made the flames around his flare up, quickly melting everything surrounding him.
Smirking in mild satisfaction, the male kept walking while his flames were up, making the ground easier for him to walk on. Soon he was by the stream near his den, but as he bent down to take a drink he realized there was someone else here.
Not so much out of curiosity, but checking to making sure the stranger wouldn't cause him trouble, Ilan looked up and saw a purple vixen. He snorte dlightly. Even if she wanted to cause him trouble, he could bend her in half. With nothing to say to her, he bent down and started drinking.

Aella heard a slight crushing noise and a....slushing noise? Like someone walking through a puddle, but where the heck were you going to find puddles in a place like this? She grumbled a little; sucked to have such large ears sometimes. Sure you could hear a lot and most of it far away, but it wasn't like those sounds were always easy to predict!
Her frustration didn't last long though, when a head suddenly poked through the trees, followed by a huge body. Hmmm, Daeva. You wouldn't see her on the ground with all this snow if she had wings, but she didn't so maybe he knew something she didn't. This intrigued her.
She came trotting over. Not right up to him, no, Aella had a touch more sense than that. More like to within a 20-foot radius. Plenty of space for her to run to the trees if he decided to get nasty, since she bet being so big with wings made for difficult forest-running.
With her first up-close (somewhat) look at the Daeva, she started to giggle a little. "Your feet are all wet," she said, still quite amused. She guessed he was melting the snow to make the going easier, but it would have been more like slush rather than puddles. She was sure the flames would dry them out and keep everything warm, but it envoked humor.

Ilan glanced up as the vixen started...giggling at him. "I noticed," he replied dryly. He'd rather have wet feet then stumble around in this annoying white s**t. One of these days, he was going to find some place where it never snowed, away from his batshit family.
He brushed some of the offending snow away from him with his tail, giving him enough room to sit by the water. That done, he wrapped his flames around his paws, enjoying the popping and sizzling sound as the intense heat rapidly created steam and dried off his feet.
"Give it awhile and yours will be too," he snorted. At least he could dry his off; he smirked at that particular advantage his species yielded him.

Aella shrugged and swiped at the snow around her, also creating a small patch of brown, dead grass. "I can stand on dry ground if I wanted to work at it," she said, "and my feet are not so hot as to make puddles and soak themselves as long as I keep moving.
So riddle me this, fire feet," she continued, plunking down in the middle of her circle and examining the male more closely with her amethyst eyes. "If you don't like snow and you have wings, what's a guy like you doing in a place like this?"

Ilan was tempted to smack this vixen a new one for her obnoxious comments. But, Daeva or not, he'd leave batshit craziness to Arianrhod. The last thing he wanted was to do anything similar to his sister.
"Because I...accidentally landed here two days ago." The winds had been stronger than he expected in a winter storm, and he'd been buffetted into the treeline. A stray branch had injured one of his wings, temporarily leaving him flightless. And while not much of a traveler, he knew better than to try and wander around.
"So it was better to stay in one place until the weather is clearer."

"It's not clear now?" Aella tilted her head and gave the sky a good, long look. It was such a pale blue as to be nearly colorless, and what few clouds there were were such pathetic wisps that they were quite invisible against all that dull colorlessness. Huh. Were her eyes just bad or something?
"I don't get it," she said, shrugging and returning her gaze back to the Daeva. And that was, when all said and done, her primary driving force and the reason she kept bugging the male even though it was easy to see he'd rather she bug off. Aella was worse than cats when it came to curiousity.
