Evening had come and the forest interior was already growing dark, making the luminescent beetles stand out as they crawled along the bark, scattering as sharp claws dug in to provide Toruk with purchase as he made hi way down from his look out. Dropping the last few feet to the forest floor, landing with the silent grace all his people possessed, the large lion shook out his mane and rolled one shoulder, easing an old battle wound.

Gazing round he smiled, enjoying the quiet of the forest, which really wasn't quiet at all. The low hums and burbles provided a steady beat to the higher tuneful trills, warbles and bird song that bubbled like music around him. Flicking his tail he started forwards, jumping lightly up onto a huge sweeping branch that ran along horizontally, passing another which he crossed to in order to keep going in his desired direction. From tree limb to root to fallen branch he made his way smoothly and steadily across the forest, movements fluid and unhurried as he padded along, the stones and gems at his throat and the feathers at his ears shimmered and glowed in the rich low lighting.

Note: I am Rping her as an adult now. ^...^ As she is supposed to be one. WHOO
Jube's had become a priestess officially in the pride not long ago. She was on a mission, to find something Zelt would require in due time, a creature that was essential for a young male to become a warrior among the pride. It was a ceremony that both king and queen would be present for, as it involved them both.

The creature she was a small worm, iridescent like the world they lived in. When digested and then combined with a poison from another creature, the warrior would hallucinate and visit another realm, where his warrior instincts would be shown to him.

Jubes was not having luck finding the said worm. She was walking along the path, her eyes narrowed and tail flicking.

Sensing someone approach, Toruk went completely still on his branch, body held low and dappled with the evening shadows so that he melted into the mass of foliage and life that surrounded him. Not long after the sound of pawsteps came to him and immediately he grinned broadly. He would have known that step anywhere.

Juubeihle...

Standing he jumped easily down from the branch he had been using as a walkway and landed neatly on the forest floor, the leaf litter deadening any sound he made. Smiling softly, suddenly feeling a little nervous now that he was down here, he waited for her to emerge out of the undergrowth.

"Oel ngati kameie, tsmuke." The male greeted, his low, husky voice a deep rumble in the growing shadows, his voice powerful yet gentled, just like the lion himself. "I did not expect to see anyone out here tonight." Watching her quietly he gave her an inquiring look, expression friendly. It had been a surprise to run into his hi'syulang, his little flower. But it was one he gladly accepted. Any time he could spend with her alone was welcome, even if it did give birth to a flock of butterflies in his belly. He was only grateful Kaym wasn't around to know the great Toruk Makto was undone by a single young lioness.

As she emerged from the ferns and plants that were their home, she lifted her head to see him. She looked taken back for a moment, her cheeks taking on a darker hue. She paused in step and lowered her head shyly. "I see you Tsamsiu'eyng." She said softly, her eyes lifting to look at him from under her tuft of fur on her forehead. She had always been fond of him, if not a bit embarrassed around him. She didn't know how a male seemed so amazing in her eyes.

To her he was godly.

"I was on a mission for our queen but... I am not successful. I will have to try another night. Perhaps Eywa will have to assist me." She said. Everyone knew that Jube's had no problem with talking to the goddess of their kingdom.

The warm colour that dusted her cheeks was most becoming and his own flock of butterflies settled a little. He could have stood there and admired her all night, for she had grown from the lithesome young female he had first met into a truly beautiful lioness. Her gentle expression and demure smile could so often transform into such joy that it made his own heart lift to see it.

His warm smile at her greeting calmed a little in reaction to the worry in her voice. Tilting his head he looked thoughtful, wanting to help. After all he himself had nothing to do right at that moment and any time he could find to spend with her was precious.

"A mission? Maybe I could help?" He offered, stepping forwards to close the distance between them so they could converse easier.

Jube's smiled at him for a moment as she observed him. When he mentioned the mission she shook her head, still smiling. "Thats alright. It was for an upcoming ceremony. That worm that has to be ingested... We need more but they are tricky creatures to find out here... It's no big deal.. I have a week before the ceremony..." She said simply, giving a shrug. "Nya knows where they are... she told me the location but... I can't seem to locate it properly...." She looked a bit confused; she knew she was sort of air headed.

"Now that the pride keeps growing, I think ceremonies are going to happen more and more... it's so exciting!

"Ahh..." Toruk nodded, a knowing look on his face. he knew of the worms, nasty, slimy creatures that tasted bitter going down. Still, they were necessary to the ritual and since he had been forced to eat the damn thing, he supposed it was only fair the younger lions did the same.

"Maybe if you described it, we can find it together?" After all, few knew the forests around the navi's home better than Toruk himself, and even if he didn't recognize it, any excuse to spend a little more time with his lovely priestess was welcome.

"It is good to see our people prospering at last." His smile turned gentle yet the old regret was just visible. he still believed they could have saved more during the war, but it was an old burden, one he barely noticed any more.

She smiled at his stubbornness and chuckled at his reaction to... no doubt... recalling eating the creature himself and experiencing the aftereffects of the creature. "Well, as you probably recall... it's sort of white and wiggly looking, but has luminescent spots on it... like what my pelt has..." She looked around. "It usually lives under rotten logs and stuff... or sometimes they live under water in the darker spots of rivers. They are complicated little creatures."

She nodded. "I am so happy. Since Eywa came back here... it seems the pride has grew and grew and things are going so good. I am so happy... though sometimes I miss my family back home. I don't think things are going well there... I feel off about... about my mother... but... I dunno..." She shrugged.

At her description of the creature Toruk made another face, the memory, even dulled by the years that had passed since his initiation, still left a bitter, slimy taste in his mouth. Ugh it had taken weeks to stop tasting the little worm!

"Hmm.. I see the problem." There were literally millions of rotten logs laying around. He had hoped there would be a more specific area but, well, at least he could keep an eye out now that he knew. Her sudden topic change drew his gaze back to her, a tender concern filling his bright yellow gaze. "It has to be hard to be apart from your family... " His tone was softer now, honest in his worry for her. "Did you wish to talk about it?" He offered quietly, wishing he could do something for her, as the look of sadness did not suit his usually cheery priestess.

Jube's openly began to giggle hysterically at his expression now. She herself had never had to eat the darned worm. She covered her muzzle with her paw, to hide her giggle fit. She hadn't even witnessed anyone eating the darned thing, not yet... soon she would be enough for her.

She looked at all the logs in which she'd have to search and sighed. "At least the other priests are helping too..." She mentioned, her shoulders shrugging. As long as they found them in the end, she was happy. When he relied to her mentioning of her family. She nodded. "I miss them... but I knew this was where I belonged..." She said softly, looking a bit down cast. "It has been hard.. but... I think things are going well..." She said, though without her knowing, her mother was in mortal peril and her father had abandoned her.

"I just... miss my brothers and sisters... I get lonely sometimes, since I don't have... well... I don't have anybody to really share my thoughts and idea's and stuff with... memories..."

Tsamsiyu nodded softly, missing her warm laughter of a moment ago and wanting to ease the look of deep sadness in her eyes. He wanted to protect her from everything if he could, though he knew such a wish was futile at best, he couldn't help the longing that filled him when he looked at her. She was so delicate and yet full of life, vibrant and fragile and so impossibly strong all at the same time. As it always was with her, she was the only one who made him feel so helpless, so naive despite his long life and many experiences. There was one topic he had no experience with and that was love.. but it was love he felt for her.

"Of course it is hard." He murmured gently in reply, stepping closer to her. "Leaving ones family, or loosing them, is always difficult, no matter the reason. But you have another kind of family here, in the pride... " He smiled gently, hoping to reassure her. After a moment he swallowed his nervousness and bent his heavily maned head, touching his cheek to her furry forelock. "I know I am not your family, but I am always here if you wish to talk.... " His voice was whisper soft, almost tentative, a little nervous. The usually gruff, mature warrior felt little more than a cub as he came as close as he ever had done to confessing his feelings for her.
