"OOOOOOOWWWWWW" …… Augh.
"OOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW"
Velum narrowed her eyes and laid her ears against her head. Hmph. No one was paying attention to her. She dragged a leg along behind her, and decided to head for water. It must be more populous there, and she was looking for attention. She'd only slightly hurt her hind leg, and it was getting better with every passing hour. Soon she'd be good as new. She towed it behind her at as funny of an angle as she could manage, though that just served to make it more sore, but damn it, she wanted to cause a spectacle!
"OHHH IT HUURRTS" The ears of a blue female pinned back against her head. She'd been lazing under a bush near the edge of some water, but her peace had been disrupted by some awful yowling. She sighed and squinted as another cry went up. It was obvious to her that it was fake and forced. Sango took a deep breath and exhaled as the noise seemed to cease before another wail rang out.
"Aauugghhh." Lazily, she opened her golden eyes and glanced over in the direction of the disturbance. It seemed to be some god-awfully colored, blindingly… Green… lioness dragging herself towards the water. Sango stood to leave, but that was her mistake. "OH YOU THERE, HELP ME!"

She'd been seen! Her ears lay flat against her skull and her lip pulled over her fangs in a grimace or a sneer. She slowly turned her head to face the other lioness and sized her up, getting past the bright colors to measure her walk.
"No thanks, I'm fine." Quickly, she tried trotting away. Velum would not let this lioness escape! No, she must be paid attention to! "OH PLEASE, I'LL DIE!!" She let out a pitiful wail and collapsed where she had been standing ensuring that Sango had been watching as she did it and that it was sufficiently heartbreaking. She stretched a paw out in Sango's direction. "I can't hunt! I'm famished! I'll starve! Won't you help a fellow lioness? Please, sister!" Sango rolled her eyes. This was too much to handle. She halted for a moment to stare at the lioness who was now in the dirt on her side. Really? she thought. This lioness was desperate. And Sango wasn't the type of lioness to feed into someone's cry for attention. This was just an annoying little bit that was already wearing well away at her nerves.
"Get up. You're pathetic." Velum's eyes widened in shock. No one ever spoke to her like that! Some could realize that she was faking, but either they believed her or they played along like they did and played nicely. But this female… Well, she was a brat! She narrowed her blue eyes with the blue lioness'.
"I'm not pathetic, I'm injured!" She pouted and dragged herself to a standing position, where she then limped towards Sango. "If you could just get me a meal I'd be grateful and well on my way to recovery!" "PFFFT." What a load of wildebeest crap. "I'm not going to hunt for you."
Sango picked up her pace of running away from this nuisance of a lioness.
However, she stopped dead in her tracks when she saw on the horizon, a familiar lion.
"Oh god. Not you again."
Sango was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Or rather a new problem lioness, or an old problem lion.

Serru had been following Sango for a short while now, but at some distance. But here she came running towards him! A smile spread across his face in delight.
"Ah, my love! Here you are, running towards me! I never thought I'd see the day!"
He picked up his pace to close the gap between them and purred deeply in delight. He’d once given chase to Sango and pursued her in the romantic sense. Of course that was a very brief encounter. Not even half of one half of an afternoon of one day. But she was so beautiful, he couldn’t help but follow her. He was quite the ladies man, chasing anything, really, but he hadn’t had a lady companion in some time. Perhaps she would now give in to his wiles and they could spend the night together! "I hoped to never see you again." She glared and growled, the fur on the back of her neck rising and her claws digging into the dirt. She thought she lost him days ago! He was so creepy, for having followed her like that. Shudders went up and down her spine when she thought of how she’d slept in the open and fancied herself completely alone and safe. Echk. What a disgusting male. She never would consider spending time with him, much less a night and potentially a lifetime with his cubs. She'd completely forgotten about the green lioness for a moment until…"Oh, sir! Perhaps you can save me! This lioness, she attacked me! I'm afraid I'm wounded!" Velum limped past Sango towards the rather cute and attractive dark blue male that had just shown up. It was always easier to get pity from a male, anyway. Unless he had a mate. Or cubs. He'd called the other lioness his "love", but from her reaction, she could tell the feelings were one-sided.
Not that he knew it at the time, but Velum was much more Serru’s type of girl. She’d never had cubs, but she never said no to a handsome lion. Or leopard. Or cheetah. She wasn’t picky.Serru wasn’t really picky either. He took his eyes of Sango to see who had called out to him. Ahhh! Just his luck! Another beautiful lioness headed his way. And she alleged that Sango attacked her? ...He didn’t really put it past the blue lioness, especially from the stance she had towards him, she seemed rather irritable today. What a shame! But he turned his attention again to Velum and cooed and tutted.
“My poor dear! Did she, now? I’m not surprised. Sango can be quite a meanie sometimes! But deep down she’s a very nice, proper, and lady-like lioness. Isn’t that right, my love?” He winked at Sango and gave Velum a sympathetic look. Velum nodded, her eyes watery and soft.
“Won’t you help me, please?”
She gave him a pouty look that always worked on the males.
“You see, I’m so hungry, but I can’t hunt for myself… And I’m so cold at night…”
Velum turned her head to give Serru a side long glance that spoke volumes. Or at least implied them.

I’m gonna be sick, Sango thought. She rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out. Anything to make it stop! But these two seemed perfect for each other. She could kill two birds… or rather lions… with one stone!
“Yes, I attacked her, and I’ll attack the both of you unless you leave me alone!”
She took a menacing step towards the two and flashed her fangs.
Velum adhered herself to Serru’s side out of mock terror and looked up at him with her baby blue’s.
“Oh please, mister! Don’t let her attack me again!”
Of course her limp wasn’t from a lion attack and it really made no sense to say that it was, but everyone seemed to be going with it, which was perfect.
Serru threw out his chest and took a step in front of Velum.
“Don’t worry, My Dear! I won’t let her hurt you anymore! I’ll calm and woe her with my charm!”
He threw a wink at his new companion which in turn won a giggle from the lime lioness.
Sango rolled her eyes again and growled.

“Now honey, I know you must be having a bad day. I understand that. But you can’t take that out on this sweet little dear. That’s simply not fair! Now be gone and leave me to take care of and heal her. I’ll catch up to you later!” Sango snorted.
“Don’t do that, please. Noo. I’m so envious. Aah.”
She didn’t even try to fake it or to play into their strange little fantasy.
“Now get out of my sight before I change my mind!” Serru nodded gravely and sighed.
“I bid you farewell, My Love! We shall meet again! Now come along, My Dear! Let’s get you something to eat!”
He bowed to Sango and spoke in a baby-voice to Velum, who looked up at him gladly, and the two set off over the horizon; Velum’s limp all but forgotten. Sango heaved a sigh and walked back to the watering hole. She felt like she’d see them again in the future, but she could certainly hope otherwise. The end. 1,457 words
