((This is going to be a future PRP between Chomo (Bane) and Nuri (FC) as they return to their home from the graveyard, we are unsure when it will start, but we are saving this thread for future times...))

The dust of the Graveyard was long gone by the time Nuri found herself stilling in her travels. The sun was getting close to set, and sadly enough they had been traveling for hours just to head back home, and even than had yet to make it to their sands. So, sitting there with the dry grasses of the northern lands brushing her form, she looked up to the cloudless sky to gaze at the sunset above, the burning colors lightening her mood.

Around herself and Chomo was a slight clearing, Nuri paused in the middle as to her right sat a small cave. It was big enough for the two to spend the night in, so of course she pasued in this place to rest, her eyes turning behind her to find out just what Chomo was doing as well.

"We still have a ways to go...and since we have been traveling so long, it is best if we spend the night here..." She turned fully to tilt her head at him, "...Is that alright, or would you like to keep going?"

Chomo had been walking a lot lately, travelling to get food for Ausha, leaving the graveyard, all sort of reasons. What he hadn't mentioned was that the constant motion had played rather heavily on his body. He was tired, weary, the sort of worn out feeling that only comes from weeks of tireless excercise. He would probably have asked to stop sooner were it not for his anxiousness to get there, to feel the soft sand under his paws. And this time, to actually have someone with him, someone else he could rely on to help him fight his corner was a great feeling.

The red lion almost walked into Nuri as she stopped, so into his pace was he. As soon as he snapped out of his travelling reverie, he looked about himself. "Hmm?"

His thoughts returned to the here and now and he grinned with a good deal of relief. "Nope, I'm glad for a bit of rest, and the more relaxation we can grab, the further we can travel tommorow." Spotting the cave he raised a brow slightly "Nicely spotted by the way, I would never have noticed that in a million years."

She resisted the urge to chuckle at his near run-in as he stopped, stunned at her words before visably jumping back to his senses. It has facinated her during the travels, his whole character and being, for she had never met another lion like him since her family had passed. He seemed like the winds that brushed the sands, always moving with his persona and always taking everything with him without strain. A breeze waiting to become a sand storm, the refreshing touch that many strived to feel each time it passed, and he was no exception.

"Oh yes," She mused as she took glanced to the cave, "I only really spotted it becuase I spent the night here on my way down...the location is hidden from most, no other scents really near by, but if I recall there are some fresh game a few moments in each direction." It was like a small paradice, waiting for them to just rest and reviving them of their travel wounds. Lifting her soar paws, the pads were not used to the large rocks and the hard grounds that seemed to taunt with each step.

"If we do rest for the night, I am sure we could make it by the afternoon of tomorrow, at least to the borders where the grasses shift to sands." She sent him a small smile at that.

Chomo found it odd how simply having someone with him on his travels made him see things in a whole new light. Nuri allowed him the motivation to walk beyond his means, supported by the very thought that she was there suffering the same tiredness as he. She moved with more grace than he, but that was a given and he had grown accustomed to her hindpaws being the main veiw as he walked.

He gave her a warm grin and nodded "An excellent place to spend the night then, undisturbed and well fed in the morning. Excellent." At the prospect of such a place to relax rather than a restless night spent in the open, Chomo brightened from his weary state.

The cub in him couldn't wait to get back to the sands and his tail showed this in it's contented swishing at his hind paws. "Is it wrong that I can't wait to get there?" he chuckled. "Reminds me of when I was a cub trying to run so fast across the sand that I didn't even sink." as if to establish this fact he ran in a small circle, suddenly feeling young and playful again. He gave Nuri a mischevious grin "Though I can't really iterate how happy it makes me this time to have someone to race when I get there." He was joking, he couldn't help it, his whole life had been turned upside down and once again the future was wonderfully unpredictable.

Nuri just turned to nod with him as he agreed with her location, her shoulders relaxing now that she did not need to worry about what he thought. Stretching soon after, she only eyed him as he seemed to brighten with each passing second, and suddenly he was pransing around as if he was a cub again.

"Chomo..." She started warly, but was interrupted by his words, her ears falling back as he asked the question, "...no it isnt wron-..." She trailed off once more as his sudden mood shift caused her to keep silent, just moving back on her haunches and sitting there. As soon as the grin was sent her way, her eyes widened from their dark rimming and she felt a slight surprise jump through her system. Never had she encountered someone so...accepting of life and confertable that they would just run in circles and dancing around.

"Race? Chomo, darling," She started with a purr, taking on the tone she seemed to find in Ausha, "You wouldn't stand a chance."

Chomo couldn't help his bright mood, nor conceal it. His main failing was that his emotions were all too often wide open to the world. It was also his strength, emotion was sincere in him, you knew where you stood. He was elated as Nuri, rather than being dissaproving of his childish turn of emotion actually joined in with his messing around.

"Bah, you wish." he cackled jovially, greatly amused by Nuri's Ausha imitation, if there was any particular tone that would drive him to a competition, it was that one. "You would eat my sand." he flicked his tail behind himself and ducked into a sort of play-bow. "Just you wait till we get there, I'll show you how fast this Firekin can run!"

"The sands?" She said with a raised brow, moving to stand as she walked slowly towards him, her smaller form circling his own a moment before she continued, "Hard grown is know for making lions slow...you are unused to running in sands, so while you work to pick up your paws, I will be running..." She continued her circle to prove her point, picking ip the pace, "...circles...around you." She smirked as her tail brushed his hind paw a moment before she pushed off, turning a few steps away and tilting her head in a mock challenge.

"Lets see if the same goes for me...does sand cause me to slow on the hard grounds...I doubt it." She took another step back before turning again and rushing off, "Catch me if you can Chomo!" She yelled loudly over her shoulder. What had gotten into her?

Chomo grinned as Nuri circled him, his tail swishing in the manner of a cat's set to pounce. Sure he could run on sand, it wasn't so different to running on the ground other than effort taken...and how much you sunk. Okay, so perhaps it would take a bit of getting used to, still, he wouldn't be beaten on hard ground. He was about to make another comment of bravado, Nuri dashed off ahead of him.

Laughing, he followed, running flat out, not even aware of the fatigue of earlier, feeling like a child again as he let himself run without a target, just for the hell of it. "Oh I will!" he yelled, and with another cackle of mischevious laughter, dashed after the dark female.

Taking a look over her shoulder, Nuri was surprised to see Chomo on the gain, his more muscled form giving him the push to beat her speedy sprint. Only a true Firekin could keep up with another, and he was a true Firekin. Letting out a soft chuckle as she looked ahead, she found herself about to enter the cave, and she skidded to a sharp stop, her paws slipping slightly on the stone as nails sounded with strain.

Once she had stopped, she quickly stumbled to stand, her breath somewhat catching with a spin as she looked to see him close yet. Figuring right away he would catch her no matter what, she set herself and prepaired for him to come close enough, waiting with her nails in before pouncing as he got near and aiming to at least bring him down, though nothing more.

Chomo was pleased to note that his charge was actually to some gain. However, Chomo at a full run was a force that wasn't designed for sharp turns or surprise manuevers. Therefore, as he watched Nuri, in a sort of slow motion stop and turn towards him, he found himself amusingly unable to do anything, despite his own claws scrabbling for purchase on the ground.

He was totally off balance already, so when Nuri pounced him, he went down like a big ball of dark red fur, surprised by her action, but not worried that she had anything other than good intentions "Oof!"

Pinning him suddenly down, Nuri was more than surprised that she had been able to do it, and it showed clearly in her dark eyes. She just stood there, her form over his as her eyes were looking right down into his, and she caught her breath. Shaking it off suddenly, she put on a victorus grin and pulled off of him, settling to stand on the side and raising her head in a pridefull victory.

"What did you say about catching me?" She questioned with her eyes glancing back to his form, and her tail moving slightly. How strange for her to be acting playfully, like a cub. Maybe it was just that time of the year or something.

Chomo was impressed. In his own mind he had been sure of his own abilities of balance but just like that Nuri had been able to fell him, wether or not through luck. He met her gaze unflinchingly as she pinned him, himself also out of breath from the chase and his fall which had knocked the air out of his lungs and which demanded replacement. As Nuri raised her head in victory, he stuck his jaw out in a playful expression of childish indignity.

The spell broken, he rolled back over onto his belly and got up "I demand a rematch!" he chuckled, brushing dust off of his pelt. "I didn't know cunning was allowed.".

Normally getting beaten by another lion would have been a major cause for complaint in Chomo but right now, oddly, he got the feeling Nuri could beat him at anything and he wouldn't bat an eyelid. "Tell you something, you are fast. Expected nothing less, though."

Turning her head, Nuri sent him a flashing grin before it faded back to the same, smug smirk.

"Cunning is always alowed when you are a Firekin..." She than moved to stretch out her limbs and her back, moaning lightly as it took a second before the pop was made, "...this ground is murder on your paws however..." She seemed to ignore the request for now to have a rematch, but when she had grinned at him, she had glowed with the challenge, giving promises of another try soon.

"Yeah..." She murmered at his complement of her speed, "Without the size as a cub, and being slim from lack of nutrition, I was always trying to find another part of me to excell...so I had to gain the strength and the speed..." Her paw came up to brysh behind her ear a moment, before she set it back down and looked towards him once more, "And you, Chomo, are fast as well...though you excell more in power than anything else...I expected as much from any Firekin..." She felt a slight heat come to her cheeks from the akward completment that she attempted, and just ducked her head soon after.

Chomo nodded, it was something he had forgotten in the graveyard, that the Firekin often demanded more respect than other lions, and needed to act in a way that afforded that respect. He would remember that, cunning /was/ very much allowed out here.

He agreed on the groud count, glancing down at his own paw pads "Yeah. Add that to the accumulated tiredness of the day and you have a set of very sore paws indeed." His own paws were currently demanding interest on the energy he had borrowed to have a run around. Still, it had been fun, and was worth it, he felt.

Listening intently to Nuri, he added his own comment "You certainly gained it well." Chomo didn't doubt that survival had been the forge on which Nuri's grace and intelligence had been forged. He too had experienced it, and knew nothing more until he fled the oasis. The desert was harsh, but to those born there, it's barren sands were home.

He was deeply flattered by her compliment and grinned slightly sheepishly. "Well, I had a demanding fitness instructor."
