As soon as one stepped within the confines of the grocery store, past the automatic doors, the warm smell of freshly-baked goods was the first thing to hit the senses. It was still before noon at this point in the day, a time when the bakery was setting out the last of their goods before their shifts in the kitchen ended. And that smell of cinnamon rolls, Sterre couldn't help but actually falter a smile, despite her otherwise serious outlook.

The bakery wasn't too far of a trek from the front of the store, and Sterre was quick to find the cinnamon rolls. Oh, but the donuts smelled so good, too! Curse her sweet tooth! "Anything you want to get for yourself, Xan?" she asked, turning from the donut display to find that the toddler was quickly scampering up to her side from another direction, something currently unidentifiable clutched in her hand. Eyes narrowing, the woman asked sternly, "Xanthe, what do you have there?"

Green eyes growing wide, she attempted to hide what she had behind her back, shaking her head, "Nothin'! I wanna chocolate donut!"

Already trying to change the subject, was she? "Give it back to whoever you took it from," she stated firmly, ignoring the toddler's request. There was no way she was leaving with the possession of someone else's... whatever-it-was that her sneaky kid stole. "It's not yours."

Xanthe stamped a foot on the ground in protest, "They don' need it! I'm not greedy, they are!" That's what her mom was thinking, wasn't it? Well, this girl wasn't going to stand for it!

"I'm not going to get you anything for breakfast until you do," the woman stated bluntly, unaffected.

The girl huffed a sigh, flashed a pout, and grumbled, "Fine..." Scampering back off, she attempted to bring it back to the person she had stolen from before they noticed the money was gone. She was nimble enough, maybe she could put it back without them noticing, either.

"Cininimimum roll!" Áróra exclaimed from the back seat of the car.

"Yes, we will get Cinnamon rolls," Vilyum mumbled in reply, punctuating the yes with a yawn. He then pushed open the door, removed his seatbelt, and stumbled out of the car; mornings really need to be moved to later in the day, he thought with a grin.

“Cini-cini-cinimum,” Áróra chanted gleefully as she undid her seatbelt, opened the door, and then jumped out of the door, fluttering her wings mid jump. She then hurried over to Vilyum and followed him as he walked up to the front doors of the store.

As the automated doors slip open, Vilyum jokingly exclaimed, “Look Áróra, magic doors!”

She then squinted at the doors and shaking her head in disagreement she retorted, “Those aren’t magic doors, silly! It’s electrinics.”

“Ok, ok, fine, you got me. I can’t get anything past you, can I? Well let’s go get some milk, and then off to the cinnamon rolls,” Vilyum replied as he mussed her hair.

“Nope, you can’t fool me,” she exclaimed as she followed him towards the milk.

Before they reached the milk Áróra spied a little girl with her hands clenched tight around something and a tail.

She squealed lightly to herself and hurriedly followed the little girl. Upon catching up with her, Áróra lightly tugged on her tail and said quickly, without pausing for any breaths, “Wow, this is so awesun! I want a tail! Where did you get it? I want one! It’s so pretty! Can I draw it?”

Xanthe was growing slightly frustrated at this point. Her mom wanted her to return what she had taken, but how could she do so when she couldn't find the guy she took it from? He wasn't where she had last seen him, not anymore. She was also at a loss when she looked down either adjacent aisle. Frowning, her long ears began to lean precariously back; he didn't leave already, did he?

It was at this point that she began to grow more nervous than anything. She didn't want to be scolded any more than she already had been. If her mom got too angry, she might not even let her get a chocolate donut! Okay... that wasn't the main motive for returning the money, but it was a prime example of failure that she wanted to avoid.

As the girl was about to try down another aisle, she instead nearly jumped out of her skin when she felt a hand grab onto her tail. Her mom had never done it before (though she was probably tempted to when she was acting up), so the motion was alien to her. Especially when a stranger did it! With a yelp, she jumped. Whipping around defensively, she was surprised to see not the person whom she had stolen from, but another toddler her size. Wide-eyed, it took her a number of moments for her to catch her racing mind -- and a few more moments for her to process all the questions. She was startled, and it showed in the way she stuttered her words, but her smile showed her relief, "I-I always had a tail! Maybe... maybe you could get 'un someday?" She seemed a little confused at the final question, though, "Draw it? Umm... sure!"

One last nervous look around, she determined that the man she was looking for was not anywhere in the immediate vicinity before she continued. "I'm Xanthe! Wanna help me look for someone? I have something I need to give him," she asked, briefly holding up her hand that clutched the item she stole without unclasping her fingers from around it.

Áróra was completely elated at the mere sight of Xanthe’s tail. The sight of it excited her even more than the prospect of biting into a freshly baked cinnamon roll, straight from the oven and just topped with gooey icing. She wished she could have her own tail, maybe something prehensile. Pondering this, she was suddenly filled with pure bliss as her mind wandered to the possibility of having a prehensile tail and using it to eat a warm, gooey, absolutely delicious, cinnamon roll.

Suddenly she realized she had just been standing there, staring blankly ahead, as visions of tails and cinnamon rolls had been dancing through her head. Shaking her head slightly, she sputtered out, “So-sorry about that, I was, um, lost in thought.”

“Yes,” she replied with a giggle, “maybe I could get one!” With a smile spread across her face, she exclaimed, “Ok! I will draw it as soon as I get home!”

I wonder if I should help her, she thought, I know I shouldn’t be wandering off without daddy but she seems to want my help giving that to someone, though what is that? I will have to ask... You know what, I will do it! Daddy always says it is important to be nice and help people when you can! “Sure I will help you find the person!” she suddenly blurted out, her mind made up. “So what does this person look like? And what is it you are taking them?” she asked.

“Who’s taking what where? And why did you wander off?” asked Vilyum’s voice suddenly and seemingly from nowhere. Áróra jumped slightly, taken by surprise and then turned to see him peeking around the corner of the aisle.

“Hi daddy! Sorry that I wandered off; I saw this girl with a tail; Isn’t her tail amazing; I am going to help her take something to someone!” she proclaimed as she bounded over to him.

“Oh I see, well why don’t I help you find this mystery person?” he replied.

To lessen the worry in her mind, Xanthe tried to imagine what sort of tail Áróra might be able to grow, if it was possible. To a toddler, anything was possible! Maybe it could look like her's, or maybe... Ooh! If it looked like her wings did, that would be pretty! All rainbowy and striped like that. Xanthe blinked, thinking that the dark stripes looked slightly brighter for a moment. Maybe that was just the store's lights, playing games with her eyes.

"You an artist?" Xanthe asked, curious. She hadn't really ever tried to draw on her own, and now that she knew what Áróra meant, she was curious to see how well she could draw Xanthe. "If you draw me, you gotta promise to show me!" she stated, acting as though she were scolding or laying down a law of conduct before she smiled brightly.

She fidgeted slightly as she eyed the fist she had clenched around what she needed to give back to the mystery man, getting nervous again despite her efforts. She almost didn't think the other toddler would help her out, as they would both be on their own in this... large... how big was this place, anyway!? She was surprised when Áróra opted to help her out, and she bounced a little from the happiness -- and the momentary lack of balance. It took her little time to begin to answer, but she found another voice enter into the conversation, and she cowered slightly in place at the sudden emergence of the man. Frustration at her reaction, and she perked right back up. She may have been standing straight, but she was ready to bolt if the man also decided to scold her for 'stealing,' like her mom would.

Then again... they didn't think she took it without asking, did they? She could have very well just found the money on the ground and decided to take it back to him. She wouldn't very well lie about it, but she could work around the answer so that it sounded like a possibility. She didn't want to lie...

When indicated to by Áróra, she smiled sheepishly and waved at Vilyum with her free hand. She found herself surprised again at the helpfulness, perking at Vilyum's offer with a, "R-Really?" That could help out a lot! He was a lot taller, maybe he could see the person better through the thin crowd of shoppers. "Thank you!" she grinned, bejeweled tail waving above the floor, "The man, he had yellow hair, and he, umm..." She frowned, trying to explain a person she saw but briefly, "He looked rich. He had one'a those black coats, like... like the ones that people wear on a motorcycle." She didn't know if her explanation was good enough, she just remembered that he looked like he had more than enough money, he looked arrogant, and that the coat she took the money out of was made of leather. The bleach-blonde look was rather noticeable, too. But how was a toddler suppose to convey that knowledge with such a small booklet of a dictionary at their disposal? Frowning for a moment to come up with any other information, she shrugged after a moment before holding up what was clutched in her hand so the two of them could see, "This is his money, and I gotta give it back!" It was a good wad of cash, though large enough to conceal in a tiny hand. It even had a nice clip on the side of it to hold it together. The rich and arrogant didn't deserve so much to blow on whatever, and here she was, needing to give it back... she sighed in defeat.
