Florian’s dignity had been stripped down and her reckless behavior seemed like something of the past. The young mare had left her own herd—her family in order to find out whom she was. She thought this was going to be a simple task. Perhaps a day or two to even possibly four days, but so far it was proving to be much more difficult. Sure she could’ve returned home whenever she wanted but that would defeat the purpose and she had made a promise to her Mother that she would return as a changed mare.
So now Florian traveled this way and that. She wasn’t really going in any particular direction. She would rest for a day or two and start traveling in a different direction the next morning. The forests here were quite comfortable, not too dense and not too sparse. There was much to eat and she came across a couple berry bushes that were wonderful little treats. She also came across a couple smaller inhabitants who seemed very clear that they didn’t want her presence around them. One badger family made that point very clear by throwing pinecones at her until she fled quickly away from them. So Florian found her travels to be lonely. At first she didn’t mind being alone, but now she just wanted someone to talk to.
The young mare breathed deeply as her ears swiveled hearing the faint sound of water lapping against a distant shore. She paused for a brief moment and turned her head to the direction of the sound. She licked her lips and decided that it would be best to take a break now. She began to head towards the water and within a few a flowing stream greeted her. Florian quickened to the water, walking into it a bit and quickly began to lap up the water. She had never felt so thirsty before let alone weak. As she stood in the water her legs began to ache. She raised her head, ears pulled back as she looked down at her legs. She breathed deeply and took another drink before walking onto the bank and lying down.
She looked around to see if anyone was near, but once again and as always she was alone.

White hooves thumped the ground as a strange, dark blue and star studded mare pranced, twitched and reared around on her way. Most her actions could be seen as undignified, but there was meaning behind the moved. Lavender and white wings fluttered at her sides in most the steps, but the trees in which she was surrounded by made some movements complicated. Some would have to wonder how she didn't get tangled in the long, thickly braided tail that dragged along the ground. Strangely enough, the mare seemed to have figured out way to keep that from happening. Half prancing, half side stepping, a musical voice spilled from her lips loud and clear.
"Praise for the red dawn, grass that we walk upon. Praise for sun at high noon, and the rivers whispered tune. Praise for the lightening, praise for the singing. Praise for for Father Sun and Mother Moon. Praise for the Earth sister, Praise for the wind Brother and all they do." There was a pause as she took a breath. Praise for the seaside, Praise for the high tide. We praise the Father Sun and Mother... Oh!" She stopped as she nearly did tangle herself within that braided tail. Coming back to the ground, and looking at her surroundings, Seemed she had come farther then she had thought. with wings pulled in close to her side, Luminista stepped toward the now close sounds of water. Heading that direction, she couldn't help, but wonder if anyone heard her. Coming to the streams edge, she failed to notice anyone on the other side, while bending down to grab a drink to ease her dry throat.

Florian had almost fallen asleep. Almost. The pain in her legs had dulled and she found herself to be quite comfortable, but then she heard someone chanting in the distance. She opened her eyes and her ears flicked to the odd chants. She wondered who it could be and why they were speaking of such…nonsense. She made a face as she stretched out her neck and looked up the river to see a young mare of sparkling bold blue coat like the night sky walking towards the water’s edge to take a drink. Florian kept quiet as she looked at the mare with a curious expression. Florian didn’t think she would find many others of her kind wandering throughout these parts of the forest because they were so distant. However, Florian was glad this mare came across her. But she would never really admit to that.
Florian pulled her head back and snorted as she tossed her mane back, getting onto her hooves and stepping to the strange mare.
“Excuse me,” she said clearing her throat. “I couldn’t help it but to take notice of your song. Why praise such silly things?” Florian asked, ears perched forwards as she kept her eyes on the mare.

Luminista, being that she was trying to hum and drink at the same time, thus she gave up the idea and just drank. Ears perching forwards, someone else had spoken her and it drew her away from the water before her hooves. Light lavender eyes watched the strange mare stand from where she lay and wander to the edge of the river. "Its who I am, what I am." Luminista gave in reply. "Don't you have someone to praise? Someone whom watches over you?" Her head tilted to one side.
Opening her wings and giving a couple firm draws, Luminista carried herself to be on the same side as the strange mare. Pulling her wings in close, she landed not so well, but didn't fall either. "There are many out there, but I have no names for them. None that those of the common tongue could understand." She didn't mean it to be insulting, but her old language was complicated. It was more sounds of clicks and clucks, and other ob-seen noises that others might not have called a language all together.

Florian’s tail swished and she snorted as she pulled her head back. “Of course I have someone watching over me!” she said matter-of-factly. Her eyebrows furrowed as she began to scrape up the ground with her hoof before looking away from the mare. The optimistic expression of her face began to fade. Did she have someone looking over her? Her lips parted as she glanced up towards the sky. She looked from branch to branch to finally see a couple songbirds chirping away. “HA!” Florian grimaced, looking to the mare and then nodding up to where the birds were perched. “You see. I do have someone watching over me,” she said smugly.
She cocked her head to the side. “Ugh! What’s that suppose to mean? How do you not know I speak another language! Don’t judge me so quickly,” she snapped. She snorted and rolled her eyes as she looked away from the mare. Florian closed her eyes for a quick moment and breathed deeply. “One…two…three,” she counted quietly to herself. Florian opened her eyes and bowed her head. “Sorry. It’s just…wait. Who are you?” she asked.

Luminista shook her head at the strange mare a bit. This was going to prove a difficult encounter. Stepping back away from the mare a bit, Luminista glanced to the song birds that sat over head. She thought they were more looking for places to leave their droppings then looking out for anyone. But she kept that thought to herself. "My name's Luminista, and I didn't mean any rudeness. My old tongue is hard and complicated. Outsides of the herd thought we were all insane for the way we spoke." an ear flicked a little.
"Those of the Brother have their own trickery. Those over head seem like they watch over, but they had other thoughts within their heads." Luminista commented now on the birds over head. "Those of the Sister might be more trusting. Unless they have been corrupted by the one whom speaks of darkness. One of the lesser daughters of the great parents." The words rolled from her tongue like water over the river stones behind her. Sometimes she forgot just whom she was speaking to. Not everyone was intuned with the Spirits as she was.

Florian stood with her mouth dropped. She was utterly confused as the mare spoke to her. All she could really interpret was the mare’s name as everything else sounded very…silly. She pursed her lips together and figured that it would be best not to say anything to offend the mare. After all Luminista didn’t mean any harm and it would be very rude to call her out on account of what she was saying which sounded nothing more than babbling to Florian’s ears.
“I’m sorry. I don’t really follow,” she admitted with a sigh. “You speak of a Brother and a Sister. That’s all I really got out of it. And that one is basically good and the other bad,” she said. “And something of the great parents. Do you speak of your family?” she asked.
Florian shifted her weight for a brief moment. Her ears perched forwards as she stepped towards the mare. “Did it have to do something with that song you were singing?” she asked, remembering the words Father Sun. “Was your Father’s name Sun?” she asked with a cheer to her tone as though she had figured everything out.
She laughed quite louder than she had intended to. “I have a brother and sister. Though my parents are not named after planets,” she said. There was a smile on her lips that was beginning to blossom.

Luminista watched as the mare's mouth dropped open from what she had said. Had she been too confusing? Apparently she had been from what was told to her. Luminista didn't remember her family, they had long since passed on. After the invasion of her home herd far to the east, past the burning sands of the Sister's wrath. "No, the Father is there." Luminista raised her head looking towards where the sun might have been shinning. "Father Sun rules the realm of the day. The sister is that in which we stand upon. The Brother is what guides the clouds across the two waking realms." She spoke hopefully a little clearer.
"It must be wonderful to know ones family. It has been many a year since I had seen mine. But now the one in Black has them. Taken to the peaceful place where they can live without fear and sorrow." More riddles to be puzzled out and more headaches for those she speaks to. With a mind like a fantasy book, it was a wonder Luminista didn't see herself as a princess looking for her prince in shinning armor.

Florian’s lips pursed together and her cheeks puffed out. At first a quiet little giggle escaped from her vocals but soon enough more laughter soon followed. The young mare tumbled onto the ground and rolled onto her stomach and side as she roared out in laughter. After a few minutes she rested on her stomach with her forelegs sprawled out before her. “I’m sorry,” she said as she managed to stand up and shook her coat to get the dust off. “But how can the sun be a Father? It’s just a big, bright orb! It cannot breed let alone speak to anyone! And the earth cannot be someone’s sister! It’s just…well…ground, dirt!” she said. Florian snorted as she tossed her mane back. This was getting far too ridiculous for the young mare. “I’m just so sorry. But I think you’re mistaken for old legends or something. Maybe something your Mother told you when you were little. You know, a simple little foal’s tale,” she said. “None of that is reality,” her voice kind now and her face softened.
“The Moon. The stars. The Sun. They’re just…things. That’s all,” Florian said. “They don’t’ really represent anything. They’re just there,” she added.
Florian breathed deeply and shook her head. “I’m sorry. But you’re very mistaken. Perhaps you need to lie down to get your mind settle on reality rather than just stories. I’ll find you something to eat,” she said. Florian raised her head and looked around for any berry bushes or some fresh grass blades.

"How can one of the Sister speak of such when she wheres the Sister's work on her head and shoulders?" Luminista mentioned a bit flustered at this strange mare's laughter of her herd's ways. "If she hadn't chosen you to wear them, she wouldn't have given them to the world in the first place." With her wings fluffing out, it seemed that the wind around them picked up. What had been a nice and sunny day, turned into naught. Black clouds gathered as the mood of the Brother changed, but where one might expect thunder to rumble to represent his roar of anger, came only rain. The tears of his sorrows, coming in small drops at first before becoming harder. Cold winds also raced along the river, gaining speeds that might topple even the strongest of trees.
Luminista glanced up River, letting the wind caress her body, invisible fingers passing through her feathers, lifting her wings without her command. The Brother was sad, reflecting that of his chosen, as he blew back her bangs. A silver moon marking appeared on her forehead, not that it hadn't been there all along after all. Turning those sad pale eyes back to the mare, the weather seemed to ease, but the wind still blew enough to ruffle the thickest of hair. "The Mother and Father are there, but those of their children have forgotten. Tales they may be now, but what tales have you heard? You of the out lands have lost much of your history. Clinging to what you can see, smell and taste. It saddens me, it saddens the Brother that give us rain to sustain the Sister. I'm sure the Mother weeps and her tears fall across the skies with its her turn to rein. You are of the Fallen, the grace has left you." There was still sadness in Luminista's eyes as she watched the stranger. Feeling sorry for it more then angry. Sure her beliefs were dragged through the Sister, but she didn't care, she held firm to what she had been taught by the Rising Moon herd, her mother's herd.

Florian’s body cold now and chilling from the rain that had suddenly fallen down from the gray clouds that had formed above. Her lips pursed with her cheekbones tightened as she glared at the young mare before her. “So you can summon rain clouds now?” she growled underneath her teeth. “I am not impressed,” her voice serious and hard as she spoke. “I do not like being wet. I do no like being cold especially. Now I ask you,” she paused as she breathed in deeply. “To stop this horrible wind! It’s going to mess my tail!” she stomped. At Florian’s hooves came stomping onto the ground some mud splattered against her legs and under belly. “UGH!” the mare nearly screamed out as she looked at the mud. “EWWW…! Look what you made me do!” she snorted, glaring at Luminista quickly before shaking her legs to get the filth off. She growled before raising her head and looking to the mare. “Fine, fine!” she grunted. “I’ll go along with this little game. Just stop the wind. Please. I beg of you,” Florian pleaded. As she looked at Luminista it dawned on her that the mare looked upset. Not angry, but sad. Whatever Luminista spoke of she surely did believe it. Florian snorted, rolling her eyes as she looked away trying to maintain and well-kept posture though it looked more snooty than anything.

"I did nothing, the Brother summons the rain, he controls the winds as they are his wings. This is not my doing, even if the Brother is my guide. The one who paints my path through life and his domain of the sky. What he does is of his own choosing." Luminista's was steady, though deep within there was an unsteady shake. "The mud is the Sister's displeasure of how you are acting, she shows it in the only way she can. Even if its with the Brother's help." The rain had ceased, and the wind calming, but it was still there, gently tugging at anything it could grasp.
"My herd had come to know how the Brother was created, well after Father Sun and Mother moon created the Sister. She was lonely, her creatures dying quickly in the Father's gaze. Trees wilted as saplings and flowers never bloomed. The Sister was always sad, but could not express her sadness, but for the dying of all. Even the creations of the flesh and blood didn't last. It was some time before the Father and Mother realized it was their doing. They were killing their own Daughter. So Father Breathed over the Sister, giving wind to the stilled air." She paused looking at the mare, whom was looking away from her. Luminista walked carefully through the mud, not caring if it coated her hooves and fetlocks.
"The Brother, taking pity on his Sister created the clouds, in his sorrow it rained. Washing the sickness from the Sister and letting her thrive. To this day, he still watches over the Sister. Only places he carries no sorrow is the lands of Sister's Rage. What you might call, the Desert." She stopped speaking as she came close to one of the trees. Reaching out with a wing, she pressed the downy feathers against the rough bark and closed her eyes. It looked like she were either tired or concentrating, it was hard to tell which.

Florian made a face as she looked at Luminista. “Do you ever hear yourself? Father Sun, Mother Moon, Brother and Sister of the earth and winds! It’s crazy! You’ve gone bonkers there; Luminista and now you’re trying to drag me into your wacky beliefs! But I’ll have no part in it!” she shook her head and stomped her hooves against the ground though this time missing the mud. “The rain and wind was only a coincidence. You cannot summon and no spiritual thing can. It just happens! It’s called weather. And weather is very, very unpredictable.” The young mare snorted and turned around. She swished her tail and gave the mare an annoyed look. “I for one have heard enough of these fables. Perhaps you should try to seek help. Or maybe cry out to your precious Brother that you speak so fondly about. Oh, wait! YOU CAN’T BECAUSE THE WIND ISN’T CONTROLLED BY ANYTHING!” she shouted. “Or maybe you should cry and then Sister will take pity on you! OH! THAT’S RIGHT, SHE WON’T BECAUSE SHE TOO DOESN’T EXIST!” she said loudly. “Enough is enough. I’m out of here. Good luck on your little quest of sorts. Have fun with the whole family of…whatever things,” she harshly spoke.
Florian snorted as she began to take off with her body cold and wet. Her tail a mess and her mane just the same if not worse. She needed to find a place to get clean and then another to rest for the night that was coming. She glanced over her shoulder at Luminista. Apart of her wanted to stay, but it was much too submissive for Florian’s arrogant self. She quickly looked away as she walked away.

Luminista just let what was being said, shouted at her roll off like drops of rain over a leaf. There was hurt in those words, there was pain from their sting, but she just let them roll. Shaking her head, eyes still closed and wing pressed against the tree bark. Under her breath she began her 'song' again. Though this one was different.. "Praise to the Sister, Praise of the Brother, let them guide you. Praise to the Black one, Praise to the Sad one, never fear their gasp. Everything had a balance, even ones with malice, we are equal. Come to Mother, Pass through the Father, they have their eyes on you." So soft it was, it would be hard to hear over the shouting, but it was something to do until it all ended. "Praise for the Sister for all her bounty. The life she brings us to pull us through. Raise of the Sad one and was away our sorrow, let our souls pulse a new."
Turning her head away from the tree, having noticed the shouting had stopped. It seemed that this mare, though she didn't know her name. Such a strange one, to ask her name without giving one of her own. Pulling a wing away from the tree, a shudder making its way down her back as the muscle had cramped in that position. "May the Mother watch and protect you, Lost one. You are still young, in the world of the Sister. And still much to learn of the world around you." Her voice was still low, but the wind carried her words as it brushed the ground behind the mare. Stretching her wings, Luminista rose skywards to play amongst the feathers of the Brother. The Father was still in sight, but his rein would soon end and the Mother would soon have her time in the sky, even if her vale was starting to cover her face.

“What a crazy mare. Honestly,” Florian said loudly. “Speaking of such nonsense things. Someone should have a word with her,” she quickly glanced over her shoulder but could only see forest behind her. “Good reddens. Take your little sayings elsewhere because I surely don’t want them. Who ever believed that the Sun and Moon were possessed by beings? Pure nonsense. Little mare needs to grow up,” she nodded her head in approval to what she was saying. Florian turned her head around and looked ahead. She wasn’t sure where she was going but needed to find a water source to clean the filthy mud from her forelegs and belly before it dried and made her skin itch. Not to mention she needed to clean out the dirt from her tail and was pretty sure her face was disgusting looking too.
But as the young mare ventured further into the woodlands, the more hassles everything became. The low branches of the trees seemed to be reaching out and getting stuck in her mane and floral crown. There were also large puddles of muddy water here and there that she tried desperately to avoid, but had to walk through them anyways. It was like the forest was turning against her, but Florian kept grunting and groaning to find her way out. She would not let the words of Luminista to get into her mind.
“Aha!” she cheered out seeing a small pond ahead. Florian hurried and literally threw herself into the water. She sighed as she swished her tail about and swam for a brief moment to make sure all the mud was gone from her body including her face. “That’s better,” she said as she trailed out from the shallows. She smiled contently as she walked to the bank underneath the shade of a willow tree and lied down.
She began to groom herself quietly with a smug smile. “Take that Sister Earth,” she spat glaring at the woods behind her.
