It's horrible, I know. Well, it was going rather well for the start, took some reference of a picture from Natalie Postman and decided to give her hair and a little other things. She looks like a man in a drag. =_= Nah, I'm not redoing the pic or furthering it, 'cause I'm a lazy b*****d, but I'd appreciate some sort of critisism where I went wrong so I'd know next time to avoid it. Atleast her right eye is too big and the eyes are too far apart? And I shouldn't do pictures at this resolution. =_=;; Edit: If you think it's a waste of time to crit a pic I won't even change, I understand. in some cases I think so too. edit#2: This is one of the face-reference practises I did today. So it's not a Real Work that should Take Time. But crits are very appreciated, as my eyes are doomed to be blind and can't find the obvious mistakes. ____________ Edit#3: Version 2.1 If it's too suggestive, I can... umm. cut him a little bit. >:3

Her whole face is too big or else her whole head is too small. This is the problem with embellishing upon photoreference; your proportions can suffer if you aren't careful.

Actually, I enjoy cg sketches like this very much.
The only thing I'd like to see more in stuff like this is more detail in those lil' improved doodles on the outskirts of the main subject.
Like...you see how you've got her face all pretty 'n' defined 'n' stuff?
If you did way minor shadows and highlights on the diddly-winks on her head and the "typography," you could make a sketch like this into something magical and...um...cancer curing...or something.
It'd look hot, is all.
Hot 'n' bothered. And...touchable.
Hi.

Dr. Valentine - aa...! True. *Stares at the picture.* Thanks, I see what you mean. I'll keep that in mind when I today draw more of 'em.
What? - I would have drawn it all the way to the end (as I was also practising some refining), but I got stuck since it looked so bad and I couldn't tell what was wrong in it. It would have been faster to just start a new one, but... better to know my mistakes and then start a new one.
But I'm glad you like cg sketches like this. :3

The head size that Doc V pointed out could easily be fixed by just adding more hair to the sides and the top of the head and widening the shoulders a little - the face is indeed too large for the skull it's on.
To make her a little more effeminate I'd suggest raising the eyebrows a tiny little higher, and perhaps giving the chin area a bit more definition so that the neck doesn't give the impression of joining directly to the face (which in turn makes the neck look thicker than it actually is). I realise that in the reference pic her eyebrows probably are at that height, but exaggeration is sometimes needed in artwork to make it less "this is how it looks" and more "this is how it feels", if that makes any sense... sweatdrop But then again, I also think it looks great with the eyebrows as they are, I don't think she needs to look super-effeminate.
I really enjoy this piece, actually. The loose feel really makes it work better than I think it would look as a polished portrait, and the face has a Bjork-ish alien feeling to it.

But ya, that's a good point. :3 I'll stare at it a little more and try to figure how to make it look right if I added some hair. You're most likely right about the eyebrows also. Or atleast I should make the head tilt so they would be more right. (in the reference picture it was) And. Thank you for the compliment. :3 Page boy & Tawney: No s**t. xD;; (Pardon the language) But I think it's because I drew it from american model. Western woman models actually look very much like men. If i'd know how to draw male hair i'd make her a male. __ /Hmm. I think I'll try fix the picture. The crits were quite helpful and I might be able to fix it. *Goes try.*

Wootwoot. xD;; Damn, he's corny. But looks better, ya?
I left the eyebrows like that, looked better I think.
I feel the urge to put him into my sig. Maybe with some tentacles.

actually, the face is feminine, but it seemed to be more the shape of the head and proportions of the neck and shoulder that pushed me towards the masculinity.
but that's true about models, thought i dont find them as masculine as just more androgynous.
so guess i find this to be more androgynous, actually.

Ah, true ture. Androgynous would be the right word. I should pick my words more carefully. n_n; And well, I'm happy that it's atleast androgynous looking fella. Even if it was in accident. Usually my males look... women in male clothing. I've drawn women way too long and usually try to achieve prettyness, so it shows.

I looked at the first and second image, and it still looks pretty masculine. confused
Also, the eyes are too sharp in comparison with the really soft skin. I dunno, I think the face jumps out too much.

I dunno, I think the face jumps out too much. Yaa, I ended up with making him male. I wonder if I forgot to add that. n_n; And I kind of liked the sharp eyes - soft skin, atleast for the idea. I think I'll have to practise more with the contrast of the lines. (Also, I've been practising drawing snow, especially the lights and shadows. Thanks for your earlier crits. ^_~)

If you'd like some more androgyny: http://korone.deviantart.com/gallery/Korone's got maybe the best examples of ambiguity ever. Enjoy. Your style resembles hers so I thought you could benefit from the look.

Your style resembles hers so I thought you could benefit from the look. Haha, ya. I've admired her works ever since she sent me one pic with email around six years ago. (We used to be at the same rpg place, but didn't end up talking much). Though I'm going for a different look for my drawings (= oil paintish, more boring and dull colors and realism), it's still enjoyable to see her drawings. 3nodding Thank you.
