I have to admit: I hate watching scary movies. They always creep me out and most of them give me nightmares. I really can't stand them unless I'm really intrigued, or forced to watch them.
But what i hate more than the reaction I get to the scary movie is the people who laugh at me and make fun of me because I find them creepy. I know it is just a movie, but that doesn't mean I would suddenly go "Oh yeah, I guess it wasn't creepy at all and totally forget about in a matter of a few seconds."
On this note, I just got done watching a few Slender man things and while the pictures intrigue me rather than scare me, it's the audio footage of Slender Man talking that really got me. I don't know why, but it was the only creepy part in the film. But does that mean i will go around and tell people they shouldn't be afraid of it and call them scaredy-cat pansies? No. I understand if people are afraid of movies if they're creepy because they're supposed to be frightening. If we all thought the same about these films and brushed them off as not scary at all, the Horror genre would not exist.
So does anyone actually agree with me that it's fine for people to be scared of horror films?

I loved scary movies when I was a kid. Now I hate them. I don't really want to watch people being scared, or hurt, or tortured, or hacked into pieces, you know? And I don't like the feeling of being scared or creeped out either. I don't usually get nightmares, but I'm the kind of person who will picture scary movie characters in the basement and such.... There are even some previews that are too scary for me! If other people like watching that stuff, fine. But I prefer happier movies at this point in my life. 3nodding

I used to be scared of horror movies. They always gave me nightmares. I sort of grew out of it or something. I'm also a morbid person so that might explain it... I don't find anything wrong with being afraid of a scary movie. I used to get laughed at and I actually walked away when my cousin was watching Dead Silence. If people laugh at you, just try to laugh at yourself too, or just try and aviod those movies.

I'm pretty sure my father and brother ruined my ability to watch horror movies when I was little, because even when I was a toddler or really young, they were always making me watch them. (An example being Day of the Dead.)
I am very jumpy and easily scared. I can't stand suspense. I can't watch gore (or see people get hurt in real life or even go into a hospital), because anytime I see someone hurt or injured, I feel that injury myself. (Like if someone stubs their toe, my toe hurts, and I even flinch.)
However, I love zombies. Well, more like obsessed. So it's hard for me, because movies and video games and TV shows and books with zombies are so suspenseful and full of gore. I love zombies for the back story, survivors, and the survival. So, despite hating horror movies, I still watch zombie movies many, many times over.
What I'm trying to say, in short, is that I totally support people who hate and don't watch horror movies, who love horror movies, and those who like watching them but still get scared. It's all good.

I think it's somewhat okay to be scared of scary movies, that is their intension in the first place, I'm not really afraid of them, but I'm not a big fan of gore either (I kinda don't see the point). I admit that when I was a younger a lot of movies kept me up for hours (I wouldn't name them so you don't go on looking for them), a very few have an effect on me now (I do have a huge imagination) it does help a lot if you read about (or watch) the making of these movies, somehow it dampens the effect, at least it helped me, also when I started working with 3D modelling, seeing monsters and creepy things in mesh with no materials or effects, made me lose the feeling of creepiness.

I'm almost 21 years old, and I am still afraid to go into a dark basement alone, go into a garage alone, or let my feet dangle over the side of the bed (where something could grab me!).

єтнєяєαℓιsтιc sρєαкs ► I'm with you. It's fine not to like scary movies. I'm in the same situation as you, not liking horror films, yet I watch some anyway. (Except the part when people make fun of me). Well, if people were to make fun of me for being creeped out, I'd just shrug it off and ignore it. I'm scared, so what?
Oh, what? It's over??

Its cool to be creeped and shaken by scary movies, that's the point of watching them, the thrilll of being scared. Sometimes it sucks, but its still fun.
And slender man is fun to talk about. Its a fun story to sit around and talk about with friends. and after watching all of the enttries with them, You can sit around outside at 3:00a and freak out when all of the dogs start barking at once.
Fear is heavy metal. Fear is the best distraction.... unless you're a parent, then who are your children supposed to look upto for protection from munsters--

Don't worry about it, horror flicks don't usually faze me, but that Slender Man stuff creeped me out a good deal, especially after watching EverymanHYBRID, another series in the Slender Man mythos.

Scary movies *shiver* Sometimes I'm fine with them. Especially the old ones which are so fake I sit there laughing my head. But special effects got better O.O
I can watch them is they aren't terrible and it's daytime and I'm not alone. But all my friends think that's no fun. So it has to be midnight, everyone else has to be asleep, all the lights have to be shut off, and all the blinds and curtains have to be open. I start screaming before anything ever happens. And it's not the blood and gore that bother me. I find it quite humorous when people are getting cut up and chain-sawed in half, as long as I'm positive it isn't real. It's the suspense and the scary-ness of the scary character(s). If the movie is really good (horror wise, not personal opinion), I'll be under the blanket humming before we even put the DVD in.
I'm positive it's normal to be scared of a horror film. The whole point it was made was to scare the living daylights out of you. And don't worry, I'm sure those other guys are just as scared as you are, they just have different ways of showing it xD
My apologies if I rambled...

I always liked horror movies cause most of them don't affect me in anyway. Its like the five percent that actually scare me that's fun to see. Of course that may lead to nightmares and stuff but its neat to see what people find scary.
It depends on what movies scare you. I didn't find Paranormal Activity scary at all, alot of my girl friends did. After their recomendation, I went to see it, and it actually made me really angry that I paid for that

I love watching scary movies, never much scared though, but I would never DARE laugh to anyone who is. I never liked people who are rude.

I like scary movies on some basis, but I'm WAY more scared of the unknown, scary movies tend to give me the creeps, but the real life stuff scares me, like the everyman hybrid for example, that is the most scariest s**t I've seen, paranormal activity is nothing compared to the videos.

Personally I'm not phased at all by horror movies, no nightmares, nothing to keep me up at night. Most of my friends are though, I laugh and they cower behind me...in the case of one friend quite literally, he very well could have been trying to hide inside my stomach. There's nothing wrong with it, if you don't enjoy them don't watch. My step dad is afraid of vampires.
