The sky was a gentle blue with occasional puffs of white scuttling across like they were late for an apointment. On the ground there wasn't much of a breeze, which was good considering how chilly it was. Well, by the humans standards anyway. The starry-robed male that sat out on top of the small hill in the middle of a equally small meadow was not human though, and therefore found the weather....

Well truth be told Shen wasn't much thinking of the weather. It was hard to tell where his mind was. For one possessed of as much intelligence as his you would think there'd be complicated issues and plans to solve all ailments known to existence, or something of that nature. Nope.

All that was going through his mind was clouds. Why were they hurrying like that? Wasn't like they had to go anywhere? It was a perfectly nice day for going around so. So troublesome. At least he didn't have to run around like that, he could just sit here in the peace and sunlight and watch the clouds as they scuttled through the sky.

Cheyenne sighed. It was a nice enough day, but... Again, a day alone. She couldn't figure herself out sometimes. The vixen liked being by herself, it gave her time to think... About what? Clouds. The shapes of the clouds, how they form, where they go and where they come from... At the same time, though, Cheyenne found being alone... lonely. Shaking her head, she laughed at herself. "I must be the only fox to contradict myself so much!"

Without looking at where she was going, simply following a cloud horse, she ended up in a meadow. It was beautiful, she had to admit, despite the seasonal effect. Looking around, the scarfed vixen spotted a hill. Upon closer inspection, looking like it was sitting on the hill was a really dark piece of sky... Nope, wait a sec, it was a fox! A handsome fox... Who probably wouldn't want anything to do with her, Cheyenne concluded. Sighing anyway, she trotted up to the base of the hill, sat, and looked up to find the cloud horse had vanished.

One of Shen's ears twitched lazily towards the sound of crunching grass. He idley considered a regular fox, female or normal to slight male from the volume of their steps. He was in a comfortable position on his back, so it was too troublesome to actually look.

"Nice clouds today," he commented in an off-hand way. He supposed he should be more startled and wary with a stranger nearby, but that was also too troublesome.

Cheyenne's ears twitched. Lazy thing, wasn't he? A small amused smile came across her face. "Yep. Nice clouds today." The vixen tried to deepen her voice, throw the other fox off just for the heck of it.

"Look," She pointed, voice low again, "Looks like a kit."

"Winter's bad for colds, huh." The voice didn't fool him, he could still hear the feminine quality to it. He figured the vixen must have a cold or something to be talking so low. It wasn't like he went around playing with a falsetto; that would just be a bother.

He did note the cloud the vixen was probably talking about. Really he hadn't noticed, he didn't watch them for their shapes so much as just to watch them move through the sky.

Cheyenne actually let out a small laugh. "Maybe, but since you didn't bother to look at who was talking to you I thought I'd try and fool ya." The vixen jumped up on the hill, stepped over the male, and flopped down beside him. Rolling on her back, she stretched her legs up and then relaxed.

"I'm Cheyenne."

Shen's face made a very good deadpan expression. 'Great,' he thought. 'Now this girl will think I was interested and start jabbing my ears off. How troublesome. What's wrong with a fellow just wanting to sit back and enjoy the clouds in his own company?'

"Shen," he responded back, not really bothering to get all formal on the introduction thing.

Cheyenne just nodded in response, not one to talk much. Besides, by the look on Shen's face he would probably roll off the hill if she talked a lot. Well, that was fine with her. She was content just to lay there, staring at the white puffs as they formed all sorts of shapes and drifted across the sky.

After a few minutes, though, the silence got a bit awkward for Cheyenne. Biting her lip, she asked quietly, "Do you live around here?"

"Nope," was the helpful response.

Even under normal circumstances Shen wasn't much of a talker. Well he was always being lazy and drifting off to sleep or following random thought tangents. It wasn't like he couldn't relate to people either, cause he could have a perfectly normal conversation if he felt like it. The trick was just getting him to feel like it.

As it was, tremendoud progress had already been made. Shen wasn't really chatty with strangers at all, and that he'd continued to sit there even when the female flopped down near him showed that he was, however slightly, inclined to be social.

The vixen had to let out another short laugh. And here she was thinking that she was un-talkitive! Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, for lack of anything better to do, she decided to see if she could get more than one word out of the male.

"Where do you live?"

Shen sighed through his nose, a resigned sound more than exasperated. "A little bit of everywhere, I guess," he said. "It's too troublesome to say I live in one particular place." He yawned a bit and scratched the tip of his nose, gaze still fixed firmly skyward.

Troublesome? Boy, this was a lazy fox. Cheyenne rolled her head over to look at Shen. "You don't like talking much, do you?" Without waiting for an answer, Chy sat up and pawed at the ground three times. "I guess that's ok." For lack of better things to do she started chewing on her lip.

Shen lightly shrugged his shoulders and, for the first time, his silvery eyes glanced at Cheyenne. "You asked me questions, and I answered. What more was there to say?" His voice was a bit bland, but it was the sincere kind of bland that meant he was just voicing an opinion rather than trying to be nasty or evasive.

Chy frowned. This was very true. "Well... yes. But you never asked me questions." She began shifting her paws, feeling suddenly like she was intruding on Shen's time. Without thinking, she chewed her lip harder.

Shen's expression was somewhat of a mix between eh and ugh. He just hmmmed a bit, eyes drifting back towards the clouds. "Do you always come up to every stranger you come across and try to make friends? If I don't know someone then I usually don't talk to them."
