when i logged in today i had 65521 pms and i thought holy hell how long have i been offline , then it turns out i only have 2 , i was excited for a sec stare

Usually I have 1 even if it says i have zero

I have heard of a glitch that seems to happen often when a person is offline for a while to seems like it doubles the amount over the days a person is offline. 3nodding

I heard of one even better, it involved a glitch like you had with the PM's but instead it was Friend Requests. eek

That glitch has been around for quite awhile. For some reason that's happened to a lot of people. I dunno why Gaia hasn't fixed it yet.
