User Image The dark lioness stepped into the foreign pride lands, thick gray fog parting as she walked. This must be the place the Seer was talking about... It must be... Now just to find someone to speak to.

The vapor was so thick that it obscured the lioness's vision... Runi's gold eyes danced along all the decorative-looking bones and impressive shrines that she could only observe if they were a nose's length away. Shadows moved swiftly through the earth-bound clouds, appearing and disappearing in the blink of an eye. It was eerie, to say the least... were they spirits? Monsters? Or perhaps just lions who've called this place their home?

A groan and a roar sounded at a distance... or was it right in front of her? Runi's senses were so distorted from this bizarre environment, it was hard to tell. "H-hello?" She spoke as clearly as she could, but it didn't seem as if her voice carried at all. "Hello?" Runi gulped, cautiously pressing forward... determined to get some answers despite her growing fear.

Sikitiko

Ugh, fog. Sikitiko didn't like fog. Or much else, for that matter, particularly when she had to make the long journey to her beloved's hounfor, far out in the pridelands. Why hadn't she buried him closer, to be nearer to his spirit? Not that she wasn't close to him still...she could feel her warmth trapped under his pelt, the bone trinkets on it rattling slightly as she felt her way through the fog. Was she even going the right way?

Finally the old lioness gave a shriek of frustration. She should've never left her den in this mess. Takis would have to wait for another day - the Ghede Loa would be displeased, but it was beyond her capacity to find his hounfor at the moment. Inside, her heart shriveled a bit out of grief - she would not get to see him today. But her mind did not even acknowledge the pain that had come to be so familiar to her. She remained stone-like in expression.

Wait, what was...? The Caplata's ears pricked up, straining in the silence. No, it must've been noth - there it was again! A feline voice, unfamiliar to her aged ears. Immediately her eyes narrowed and she crouched down. Intruders? On Pepo'porojo land? She would have none of that. With a commanding hiss Sikitiko cried out into the fog, "And just who would you be, stranger? What is your purpose here!?"

The muffled voice Runi was hearing didn't sound very pleased with her appearance in it's territory. The lioness still questioned whether the source was feline or an angry spirit. Either way, she figured it was clever to stay cautious.

The dark purple feline squinted her eyes as if it would help her vision pierce the fog. No forms or shapes seemed to revealed itself, and it was hard to tell where the voice was coming from. Feeling trapped and helpless, Runi could do nothing but tremble on a little plot of land that she felt was secure.

"S-sorry..." She stuttered, hoping the spirit, the lion, the monster monster made of bones, whatever it was... would hear her barely audible plea. "Runi is just looking for her mate. Runi not mean to be bother." She spoke with a weak vocabulary, similar to that of a young child's. It was a trait she would always be burdened with... but the young lion didn't let it bother her. In fact, she almost seemed oblivious to it.

The lioness swung her head two and fro, once again in search of a dark form in the distance. Her dark mauve mane swept over her eyes as she opened her mouth once more to verbalize her own inquisition. "Where you are? Runi not see you."

This lion...she spoke like a child, yet had a mate. What was this? Listening intently to her voice, the Caplata pin-pointed her location and crept closer, bones rattling as she did so. Ah, there she was; a full adult. She must've either been damaged, stupid or both for speaking like she did. Sarcastically, Sikitiko replied to her, "Siki right in front of Runi. Who mate?" Her voice sounded anything but genuine, and there was a hint of annoyance in it. Still, she couldn't just walk away and leave this fool in the fog; after all, it would be against Mawu to leave her alone out here. She'd just have to deal with it until she could get back to her den, the fog cleared, and she could kick this stranger back out and on her way.

And honestly, was this Runi afraid of the fog? It was just fog. It wasn't like the Loa were just going to appear and take you off, especially if you were as dull as this one. With a hiss she swiped at the fog, speaking again. "What reason do you have for believing your mate is here?" Personally, the Caplata had no love for mates nor for lover's quarrels. The very idea of companionship sickened her heart and made her want to tear something to shreds. But if it got this idiot off her pride's lands...
