In any situation, Manami reflects a calm and reserved self. It, though possible, is rare to see her flustered or overly excited. She has an extremely hot temper and often shows it in a relaxed way. She takes great pleasure in punishing her underlings/subordinates, and proving herself to her Captain. Manami is humbled frequently by Tsukiko. Having certain mechanical/super enhanced body parts and mechanisms, she can sometimes become arrogant. Her intelligence is second to her Captain of her squad, her inventive abilities along with the rate of work at which she can complete projects makes her one of the most formidable figures of the research facility. Manami views most, if not all living things, as objects to be researched, including herself, having performed countless modifications on her own body in order to test different functioning Mechina (Though meaning machine, she labeled the parts Machina) parts, a special type of machinery she herself invented. Being more than half mechanical, her sadistic regard to others and herself can often be looked upon with scorn. Originally supposed to have aimed for a part in the ninth division, as was her families legacy, she opted for the 12th division, allowing herself to become twisted. In battle, Manami immobilizes her target and begins dissecting them on the spot, having an uncontrollable urge to know what makes them tick. She's often seen with many strange members of the 12th division carrying containers and boxes in order to preserve any and all items she collects on the field.
Bio:
The noble daughter of the Zen house, Manami was her fathers pride. Being, however, adopted by the family with the surname Zen and not born rightfully into noble heritage, the Zen family accepted the shame that would come on their house, taking in their first daughter. Instantly attaining a brother, Yasoa, Manami was looked upon with disgust and agony for the house of Zen, it was her that defiled the nobles and made the name now of a lesser importance. Manami was, however, told by her parents that she was not to allow this to burden her, and so, she cut off the aggressive pursuers, being now taken away from the light of the world, she remained indoors most of her life, in fear that she would be killed in order to regain nobility among the line of nobles in Seireitei. During her time in 'captivity', as she often referred to it later on, she studied and learnt all about Seireitei, and also what was expected of her. She was to join the ninth division, a trademark of the Zen family, become the Lieutenant and eventually the Captain. While at first she did not question the reasoning or history behind these choices, she found that she had fallen in love with something totally unexpected, Science. This was a subject forbidden in the family, and all who practiced it were either banished or killed. She hid her longing away for quite some time, though eventually it was discovered. She was given a second chance, and it seemed that the warning passed down to her by her elders had a long lasting impression.
During her accession to nobility, along side her brother, Manami grew tired of the daily works, and, she once again dabbled into the art of sciences. She eventually left the Zen family, announcing that she would be joining the twelfth division, her parents denounced her nobility, stating that it was a mistake the day they accepted her as an equal. Since that day Manami has not been back or attempted to make contact with her 'care takers' as she has titled them. Yasoa made lieutenant of the 5th division and she the 12th, the two siblings still stay in contact, though Yasoa is often discouraged by his parents of having any relationship with his half sister, though they never speak her name in their conversations from what Yasoa has told her. Since leaving her house, Manami's attitude has changed drastically, she has become more sadistic in terms of attitude towards others, uncaring and often thinking and referring to death and torture.
