Adhara was so excited and nervous that she thought that her heart was going to explode.
Her apartment was getting cleaner with every minute that passed by, and rightly so. For one, the home that she and her girlfriend shared was constantly inhabited by a toddler and a sweet little shadow, but that meant that they were often missing random shiny objects around the house, which looked like it had been hit by a tornado most days. On top of that, there was another baby soon to be on the way, and that meant two baby showers that she was going to help plan.
Goodness gracious, she loved her Diligence DNA on days like today.
For the seventh time that day, she made her way to Adelle's door and opened it up. It was exactly the same as the night that she had left, and the woman's amber eyes slowly drifted over the scene. She itched to clean the room, empty it, tidy it, and ready it for the new baby. Again, she closed the door. She still wasn't ready to give up, wasn't ready to accept the fact that there was a possibility -a high one, at that- that her daughter was never going to come back. Sighing and shaking her head, she dismissed the thought and went back to cleaning, waiting for Lirona to show her face.

Lirona carefully made her way up to Adhara's apartment, an expectant smile on her face. It had felt like ages since she'd seen her best friend, and there was so much that they had to talk about. Aludra, babies, Azubahiel, Noah and Silas, babies, Aludra, babies... The young woman suppressed a giggle as she walked down the hallway. Oh, it was all so exciting! She couldn't remember the last time her life had been so good!
At the door, she knocked twice, calling happily through the door. "Hello? Anyone home? Very pregnant teenager here!" She laughed once again, Jake fidgeting with the doorknob restlessly.

Adhara blinked in surprise before a broad smile crossed her face. She sprung up from where she had been organizing the DVDs with a bright smile on her face. The young woman bounced across the room to the door and pulled it open, squealing with happiness when the teen was shown. Immediately, she hugged the one-winged girl, Reena and Niita happy to cuddle on her as well.
"Lira!! It's so good to see you!" she squeaked happily, holding the young woman out at arm's length to look her over as Reena and Niita rubbed and nuzzled at her engorged stomach. Her wings fluttered happily and she turned, leading her dear friend into the room and to their large, very pillow-like couch. "You look so good!! You've totally noticed the difference the hormones have made, huh? So how are you feeling so far? And what about the baby? And my brother had better be pulling as much weight as he can!!"

At the long-missed sight of her oldest friend, Lirona couldn't help squealing as well. She had missed h er older sister terribly ever since she had moved out, and it never seemed like there was enough time to talk on the phone. She hugged the onder woman back as best she could, given her ever-increasing stomach, Jake happily intertwining with Reena and Niita.
"It's good to see you too! Oh, It's been such a long time!" Lira laughed as Adhi's tentacles tickled her stomach, petting them and gently coaxing them away from her so she could get inside. The soft, pillowy couch was met with a relieved sigh, and she sat down gently, a blissful smile on her face. "Oh yes, I most certainly have," she replied happily, rubbing her stomach affectionately. "It's hectic feeling so many different things at once, especially since I'm usually so calm."
"I'm feeling fine, don't worry," she said with a tender squeeze of Adhara's arm. "Aludra's been a great help, he's so adorable. He frets over me all the time, and he's all worried about being a good daddy, the cutie." A faint blush represented the warmth growing in Lira's chest as she thought about her sweet lover, so gentle and caring... "He's so wonderful..."

Adhara laughed happily at her friend's joy, nodding as she listened to what she was saying. She went around the room, gathering some magazines and catalogs that she'd ordered and bookmarked and gone through over the past few weeks in preparation for both Lirona and 'Zuba's baby showers. After plopping all of those down on the table, she held up a finger for a pause and slipped into the kitchen, where she got two cans of ginger ale and poured a bowl of potato chips, bringing all back with the help of her tentacles and finally taking a seat beside her younger step sister, snuggling her once again.
"Great to hear, all of it! Don't get too gushy, though. He's still my little brother, after all," Adhara commented, sticking her tongue out comically and giggling a bit, pulling up the first magazine with Niita's help as she opened her soda, trading the tentacle and taking a sip of the soda. She gave Lira a smile and flipped open to the first page. "Alright, so, not to be all 'let's get right to business', but there's no reason to wait, is there? I was hoping that we could have you and 'Zuba's shower together. I know you both have way different due dates, but it could work if we coordinate it right. Regardless, first of all we have all of these different kinds of cake..."

Lirona was delighted to see the potato chips appear, thanks to her condition making her crave salt like nothing else, and took a handful with more gusto than she normally would have, munching away happily for a few moments. She accepted the ginger ale with a gracious nod, and took a deep drink before sighing in satisfaction, leaning back a little into the couch. "Aaah, thank you. It feels like so long since I've been able to just snack and relax, what with school and baby things and Aludra fluttering all around and making everyone nervous...
"Don't worry, I won't tell you everything!" she said with a laugh, playfully poking Adhi in the shoulder. "I think Aludra would die of embarrassment if he knew that his big sister knew the ins and outs of his... nighttime activities." Lira giggled and blushed, looking aside as she tried to keep the conversation pure-ish. "And a dead Alulu is of no use to me, so I'll keep it to myself ~" She took another serene sip of ginger ale. Oh, how she had missed this girl-time banter.
When Adhara brought forth the magazines, Lira sat up, looking at them with interest. Truth be told, she had been wondering about her baby shower; she doubted her two dads had any idea what to do. Trust her big sis to take care of it all. She brightened up at the idea of a joint baby shower, smiling excitedly at Adhara. "Oh, that would be wonderful! That sounds like so much fun, we should totally do it!" She looked closely at the types of cake, lethargically thinking her way through them. "Well, duh, rum cake or any kind of boozey cake should be out, or perhaps only for the guests. I know I like red velvet cake a lot... How many kinds can we have?" she asked suddenly, looking up at her sister. "I mean, just so I don't pull a doofy-rich-kid move and want that one and that one and that one without thinking about expense."

Adhara couldn't resist laughing aloud at the idea of how Aludra would react to her detailing of what he did with his girlfriend at night. Continuing to giggle as she settled beside her friend, she nodded a bit. "Trust me, I know what it is with humility kids. Isn't that quite the little coincidence, too? You and I, lust demonesses, both of us ending up with humility kids. Now we both have someone who understands to rant at when we feel like pulling out hair out, huh?" she joked, laughing in amusement as her settled tentacles stretched out toward Lira's belly once again, pressing and listening at it, curious for baby movements.
She chuckled a bit at the mild greediness of the girl, used to being raised by the same parent that she'd had - no wonder. "I think it'd be the best bet to just keep the alcohol away from the party altogether. Not that I don't trust you and 'Zu, just if you accidentally got some of it or mixed it up with the other cakes it could cause a bit of a problem, you think?" she offered with a smile, wings fluffing up slightly and wrapping around her shoulders. "Don't worry about the price. If there's any excuse, a baby shower is definitely good enough to ask Dad to donate some money for it, you think?"

A blush bloomed along Lirona's face as she realized the similarity between her and Adhara, something she never had actually recognized before. Her wing fluttered as she giggled along. "Omigosh, you're totally right. How could I have not noticed that before?" She reached out and let Reena and Nitta twine around her fingers, leaning back in content comfort. When Adhara mentioned the rants she laughed loudly, covering her mouth with her fingers. "Heehee, that'll certainly be nice. I mean, I love him, but sometimes..." She made a strange noise, a cross between a laugh and a frustrated squeak. "You, you've got it lucky because you're on top, but trying to get him to... Oh, sorry, I'm blathering on, we should be focusing.
"Your idea about the cakes makes total sense. I certainly don't want anything to be ruined, especially for you or 'Zuba for being so nice and helping so much." Lira beamed thankfully at her older sister, giving her tentacles a squeeze. Jake reached down to grab one more of the snacks, feeding it to the woman happily. She tapped daintily at her lips, then smiled at Adhara once more. "That's true, though if I don't have to ask him, I really don't want to. I mean, I know he has a whole lotta money, but I don't want to always leech off of him. At least... Not for everything." Her fingers concealed her mouth as she giggled.

As usual, Lirona's ditzy sweetness cause peals of laughter from the older lust spawn, the feathers at the edges of her wings trembling slightly. Unfortunately, Lira did manage to take a step beyond what Adhara wanted to know about her younger brother but, being at least semi-polite, she kept herself from making any kind of face by taking a sip of her soda. Picking up a handful of chips, Adhara idly fed herself as she listened to her step-sister speak, nodding along with her words.
"Pssh, this isn't leeching for everything~" Adhara replied easily, giving a soft chuckle. "After all, you know how 'Zu and I have been trying to live on our own for... well, a while, right? We do just fine on our salaries living here, and only usually borrow from Noah when it comes to parties and other big get-togethers or functions. He seems happy to help, really," the woman explained, nodding a few times. After all, it would be a lot easier to plan this double baby-shower with an unlimited budget...
