Purepurle dipped his front hooves into the water of the lake, watching the ripples move out and away from him. He caught sight of his reflection in the water and tilted his head, making sure his hair looked proper and that it stood up as it should. He wasn't vain, but he wanted to look his best just incase any pretty lookin' mares wandered along his way.
It wasn't often he managed to sneak away from Cle and not have the younger stallion stalk him with those blasted wings. His cousin, while it was nice that he had someone who cared enough to follow him and make sure some jealous stallion didn't kill him, was still extremely annoying and irritating when Pure was fine and just wanting to be on his own for a bit - or with some pretty mares.
Pure gave a whinnying laugh to himself, and moved along the edge of the lake, his hooves making ripples and splashes as he walked, content to stretch his legs for a while.

It wasn't often that Tobias found himself in the company of others, even rarer still that he was without that grump of a bear. The freedom allowed him to wander further, and still he found himself sticking close. He had spotted the purple from a distance off but it hadn't occurred to him that it might be the coat of a stallion. The idea brought a bit of a chuckle into his throat, one that he silenced to the best of his ability. No sense offending someone that might be useful to him, or interesting at least. The lake was a comforting place, so the other couldn't be looking for a fight. Perhaps a similarly purple mare. He laughed again, this time audible, and once he managed to silence himself a look of purple idiocy had appeared on his face. A bad start perhaps.

Pure paused when heard a laugh. He tilted his head to the side. Well, he hadn't actually seen anyone so he just assumed he was alone. He hadn't been prepared for laughter of all things. He perked up. Maybe it was a mare! He glanced around, and soon caught sight of...another stallion. Oh. That was a bit disappointing, but Pure didn't always seek out only mares for company, he usually liked talking to other stallions - if they weren't trying to beat him up for flirting with their mares. In which case, he usually hid and waited for Cle to save him.
The male was still in the distance, so Pure simply changed his direction a little to walk closer to him. He didn't call out though, prepared to bolt if the male turned aggressive.

For all his awkwardness Tobias picked up on the caution, and took it as a sign that perhaps something was wrong. He glanced around for signs of others, the stallion's mare perhaps, but finding nothing relaxed. "Out for a walk?" he called, approaching at a slight angle so he wouldn't startle the other. While he understood the need for caution around kalonas or other crude sort, he didn't think he himself posed any threat. After all, he was merely doing the same. "The water's fine man, if you want to jump in," he added with a mocking smile, the braids in his mane swaying as he tipped his head toward it.

Pure relaxed more when the male didn't seem to be ready to charge at him, hooves and teeth poised to fight. When he called out a friendly greeting - or what Pure considered a friendly greeting - he managed to offer a grin. "Just enjoying some momentary freedom," he called back, his pose casual and his pace easy now.
He glanced at the water when it was mentioned, remembering it had been rather cool on his hooves. He flicked his short tail behind him, pondering the water. "Is that what you're doing down this way? Aiming for a dip in the lake?"

"I might, haven't decided," he laughed, glancing over himself. It looked nice, but he wasn't quite sure yet. There were benefits to staying on land, not having to dry off for one. "Freedom ah? Got a mare waiting on you at home, going to nag your ear off when you get back?" he asked, a teasing tone slipping in to his voice. He didn't envy the mated, though he thought the company might be a nice change once in a while. Still, there were other reasons one might feel constrained. Family for one, he didn't envy that either.

Pure glanced at the male and at the lake. "It's pretty good to dip your hooves in," he suggested, shaking his wet hooves a little, as if to prove he did in fact go in the water and wasn't just lying through his teeth.
He gave a short laugh at the question, enjoying the teasing. "I wish," he said with a wink. "Got a stallion hounding me." He paused, realising what that might sound like, blanching a little. "My cousin," he explained quickly. "Thinks he's my dad or something, trying to keep me out of trouble even though I don't purposely get into trouble. Bit of a pain." He laughed again.
"What about you? Got a pretty little thing waitin' on you?"

Tobias paused, feeling himself blush a little. "I ah, nobody for me. Too flighty or some crap like that," he laughed, shrugging off the bit of discomfort. He'd never even taken one for a night's entertainment, something he hoped to remedy in the future. For now it was just him and the blasted bear. "Family, I've got something like that I guess, nothing quite so clingy though," he admitted, tapping a hoof against the water's edge to create a bit of a ripple, "Some guys just don't know what's real trouble and what's just messing around ah?"

Pure nodded, in what might have been sympathy but what was really just understanding. "Cle says that's my reason too, but I just say I haven't found something worth stickin' round for," he said with a shrug. "Your lucky you don't have clingy family! They're rather a pain in the rump," he said, emphasising his words by swinging his hips slightly.
"I don't get in that much trouble anyway. Cle's just overprotective," he muttered, before refocusing on the male before him. "I'd bet you wouldn't come rushing in all puffed up like an angry bird, just 'cause some guy was gettin' a bit grumpy 'cause I was paying his girl a compliment," he said, phrasing it more as a question.

"Just not worth the effort man," he called back, turning to face the water. It was a nice place, something he might consider sticking around worthy. "Too much anger in the world, folks get way too touchy about everything. So you comment on another guy's girl, so what, talk belongs to everybody," he laughed, "Now touching on them, that might be a little different." Try as he might he still had a decent amount of morality beneath the laze.

Pure laughed. "Exactly!" He nodded firmly. He had strict rules on taken mares. He might compliment them, but never after he knew they were taken. Most of the time, he just didn't realise they had stallions of their own until the male was demanded he get away from the girl.
He grinned at Tobias. "You got a good head on your shoulders there," he said, tossing his mane from his eyes were it had drooped to cover one. "What's your name? I'm Purepurle, but call me Pure."

"Tobias, don't know about the good head, friends say it's full of rocks." he said with a laugh, twitching his tail, "Pure, interesting name. You can call me Tobe if you'd like, shorter I guess." The thought was funny to him somehow, the shortening of a name to make it easier to say. Easier to remember maybe? He did have some issues with memory from time to time. "Where's a fine guy like you find any kind of trouble? I've had a boring week myself." He obviously knew where to find the ladies, that had to count for something. Might even find himself a girl to flirt around with that wouldn't laugh him off.

"Good to meetcha, Tobe," he said in response, grinning. "Don't worry about the rock thing, my cousin says my head's full of feathers, so," he said with a laugh.
He glanced away eagerly, thinking of having some fun with his new found friend. He bet if they kept moving, they could keep away from Cle for ages too, and Tobe would probably help throw Cle off his track. Perfect. Plus, he'd get a wingman for chatting up the mares. "I bet we could find some pretty mares around, if you're looking for the fun type of trouble," he suggested eagerly, grinning.

"Is there any other?" Tobias said with an odd chuckle, "Best sort of fun is the type you're not supposed to be having." He rolled his ankles one after the other, loosening up his legs. Time was you could find girls anywhere, now a lot of them were more guarded. A real shame, though he supposed it was the lack of boyish charm that pushed them off. A slouch, one had even called him. Much too harsh. Maybe he needed to be shooting for softer girls, this Pure guy might be able to help him with that. He certainly had the tongue.

Pure continued to grin, and stretched a little. He liked this stallion, he decided. He wasn't old-sounding and grumpy. He was like him and that was just perfect. He'd always needed a wingman, he decided. This would help him get the ladies way easier.
"Exactly, Tobe, exactly," he agreed, and flicked his tail behind him, eagerly. "I don't know where exactly, but I'm sure we could find something fun," he said easily. He glanced off down the lake, and motioned for Tobe to follow him. "There's got to be some pretty ladies around here some where!" He announced and grinned at his new friend.
