Damn Ily for getting into so much trouble. Damn her for making HIM trudge out into three feet of snow with a pair of sleds simply because Seth wanted to go out. Said child was also wrapped up in several layers of clothing and looked like a giant marshmallow of coats and hats at the back of the sled he was dragging around. Said green and red sleds were stacked and covered in various other things the naga had insisted on bringing.
Damon paused at the base of the hill, already overheated and panting. How did Ily STAND him for so long? Sure he rarely spoke and weighed little but that didn't stop him from requesting the most insane things and exhausting him well before the end of an escapade. "Seth, you warm back there?" He laughed as a squeak was all to be heard from the little pile of winter gear. "Just checking. Bout to trudge up the hill, in case you can't see." Yet another squeak and a slight nod. It was gonna be a long day.

Snow, huh? Well, it was a change of pace for the extremes of the past summer, and one that Nina welcomed whole-heartedly. If the summers around here were going to be so hot on a normal basis, she figured she could deal, as long as the winters were this cold.
She actually couldn't remember the last time she was out and about when it was snowing. Thinking back on it, the last time that the weather decided to spit out snowflakes, wasn't she at the facility? She pulled her scarf tighter around her mouth, repressing the memory once again. At the very least, she could try to make today's memory a good one, to replace it. After all, why keep the snow in the confines of a sour past when she could change that? Only question was how she was going to accomplish that.
It wasn't long before she came across a hill, still mostly-devoid of track marks. A rather uncommon sight, considering most of the snow had people scurrying all over it. Then again, it didn't look like it would remain pristine for very long, as there was a sled with a child about to be pulled up the face of it.
Waitaminute, she knew who was pulling it along. "Damon?" she called, checking to make double-sure that Ilyrosa wasn't with him. Well, that was a bit of a disappointment... but, then again, who was with him? "What are you doing out here?" she asked, walking up. She was pretty sure she had no idea who was on that sled, but she had to go about asking in the most roundabout way. Was that a snake tail?

Damon stopped and turned at the calling of his name. Strange, he didn't think anyone else would be here or better yet, anyone that knew his name. At the sight of Nina, his face broke out into a small grin. "Heya Nina. Not doing much, cept taking Seth out sledding," he replied, not really remembering whether or not the girl knew that Ily had a new brother. It was incredibly difficult to keep track of who all the girl ran into every day.
At the sound of his name, Seth peeked out through the winter gear only to fully emerge as something other than a giant marshmallow of them. "Hi! M' Seth. You have pretty hair," he commented, already tugging on the hat that irritated his feather crest. Hats were useless and stupid, so why did he have to wear them anyways? "Wanna sled with me?" he added, flashing the girl a cute little smile and giggle in hopes that she would agree. Damon got grumpy way too easily and if he had a friend, they could stay longer!

"Ah," Nina grinned, leaning a bit to get a better look at the bundle of winter clothing placed on the sled as her words continued to be directed at Damon, "Good day for that. You going to be sledding, too?" She tried to hold a snicker in at the thought -- she had yet to see Damon join in on a kid's pasttime, making the visual in her mind stand out as being rather unusual. She crouched down to eye-level, meeting Seth's vibrant purple eyes with her own red ones. Unusual little guy, though this sentiment was probably brought on by the fact that she hadn't yet met another sloth spawn, from either genetic strain. "Hey, Seth! It's nice to meet you!" she said with a tiny wave of a large left hand, "And I thank you for the compliment!" Well, Ilyrosa certainly gained a sweetheart of a younger brother, that was for sure! If nothing else, it made her wonder if that was working out all okay, or if it was only enough to give her long-time friend cavities. Thinking the question over for a second, there was little time in delay for the answer: "Sure; I got nothing else to do, so why not?" She wasn't too keen on going home anytime soon, and it meant less time Damon had to spend keeping an eye on the kid anyway. That is, unless this was suppose to be some sort of father-son bonding time. Questioning that, she glanced up, "If it's okay, at least?" Funny, she never really went sledding before; might as well try it for a spin, eh?
“S’Fine by me. Don’t like sledding all that much, though it’s mostly the uphill part I hate. Rollercoasters are far more fun in my opinion,” Damon commented, continuing up the hill at a slower pace so Seth and Nina could continue their conversation. Of course, being who he was the naga was practically giving him diabetes from their little conversation. How could a kid be THAT sweet and adorable? Unable to come up with an answer, he decided to simply listen in on their conversation for now.
Seth giggled and waved back, finally managing to remove his hat. The cold air hit him like a ton of bricks, nearly making the naga regret taking the hat off in the first place. Using his hair and scarf, he eventually managed to cover up his ears and block out most of the penetrating cold that surrounded them. “S’no problem. An’ you will? Yay! Sleddin’ with Nina!” he cheered, seemingly having his entire day made by that one little phrase.
Certainly didn’t take much to please him, now, did it? “You’re frien’s with Ily, righ’?” Seth asked, pulling his tail into the snuggly warmth of the coat he had. What did he care if he looked like a giant puffy marshmallow? He was warm and that was all that mattered. Well, a dark green marshmallow with fuzzy green mittens and several fuzzy orange legwarmers on his tail. He still had no idea how or why Damon had or had found them but enjoyed the warmth he got from them all the same.
Nina thought about the comment that Damon provided, coming to the conclusion that it was a logical argument. She hadn't been on a rollercoaster either, but didn't need the experience of the ride to realize the correlations with how that would be better in comparison to pulling luggage up a hill. "Well, it doesn't snow too often. Suppose it's got some charm there..?" she suggested, before shrugging off the last part. Ehh, there didn't really need to be a reason for it, not now. However, Nina misinterpreted the slow ascent up the hill as an indication that Damon may be getting tired, so offered wordlessly to push the sled from behind as she chatted with the concealed form of the child-naga. She giggled at Seth's enthusiasm at her acceptance of his offer, "Sure will. Don't really feel like heading home yet, and I didn't plan on doing anything else, so it all works out!" It was about this time that she wondered why she didn't wince at the nearly painful adorableness. She gave a sharp nod, "Yup! That I am! She's my best bud." She flashed a grin before the worry surfaced again, whether the two of them actually got along as siblings. Well, he used a nickname for her, at least; that was sure to be a positive sign, right?
Damon didn’t say a word against Nina helping him maneuver the sled up the hill. The extra help was nice to say the least. Seth may not be heavy and he might be used to worse but by the seven hells, walking through snow UPHILL was exhausting. At the snow being called charming, the man gave a soft snort. “Charming wasn’t a word I would use but sure, we’ll go with that, sure,” he replied, glancing back at them. Yup, Seth was definitely working his cute charm on her at full-blast almost.
“Awesome! Ily wan’ed us out so she could clean an’ I wan’ed t’ go sleddin’. Glad we did cause I got to meet sissy’s bestest best friend!” Seth giggled, grinning widely as if he had just won the lottery. After a short pause and the sled finally leveling out and slowing to a halt, the naga turned marshmallow shifted around to look at the beautiful white hill with huge lilac-colored eyes. “It’s so pretty... Do I hafta drag the sled back up? In the snow?” the sloth spawn whined softly, most of his tail hidden within his coat. Only the orange floof of feathers at the end emerged, appearing to be more of a feathery tail of some sorts than the actual end of his body entirely.
Laughing, Damon nodded. “Yeah. Don’t worry, you’ll have fun... Unless you crash, which I suggest you try to avoid. It’s a long trip back to the truck,” he commented, watching the boy hesitantly look over the edge of the sled for a moment. Flashing a smile at Nina, Seth gestured to the empty front half of the sled once Damon removed the extra clothes from it. “Wanna go now?” he asked curiously.

Glancing up to the back of Damon's head, Nina snerked in response. She figured it wasn't the right term to use, but to her, it was an appropriate word to apply to the situation. She likened it to a hypothetical reasoning, as though she had come from somewhere much warmer and only recently moved here, to somewhere that actually was capable of getting cold. The idea wasn't too far-fetched, as a matter of fact.
Red-on-red eyes focusing back to the excited marshmallow before her, and her amusement only intensified with the reply that came from him. Okay, it was true that Nina knew that half of Rosa's bloodline came from Diligence and all, but that drive always seemed to be aimed in a more mischievous, if not destructive, focus. Maybe it was just due of the passage of time and accumulating responsibility, or maybe it was just because it was more fun to cause trouble with a friend.
Upon reaching the summit of the hill, Nina glanced down the decline when prompted by Seth's examination of the scene. It really was... very white. It was almost like the world had a laundry accident with detergent, or whiteout was dumped on it. Idly tightening the scarf around her shoulders, she perked at the naga's complaints. "I wouldn't mind helping again, if it was needed," she responded; it wasn't as if Seth -- or the sled, for that matter -- weighed all that much. True, the snow made for a surprisingly effective obstacle, but this was for fun. She could handle that much, she just didn't want to be a hindrance.
She snickered at Damon's response, despite it sounding a little cruel for a child. She had forgotten about that aspect of the man, for some reason. She gave a sharp nod to the boy, noting his hesitant reaction to his father's comment. "You sure you're ready?" she asked as she took up the seat that was offered to her. Holding on to the front with one over-sized hand, she motioned to Seth with a careful talon to come a little closer. After a second, she whispered over her shoulder to him, "Don't worry, I won't let anything bad happen. 'Sides, the snow is good about breaking your fall!" Or, at least, it seemed like it would; it was a rather hefty amount that had poured from the skies! "You'd still better hang on, though."

"Yay! I don' like th' cold snow. Too col'," he whined softly, this dislike emphasized with how bundled up he was. Any more clothes and he'd probably be mistaken for being cold blooded. Thankfully he wasn't, but his tail certainly didn't help much when fending off the icy chill of winter. Summer suited him far more than winter did, that wasn't difficult to see. But, the naga actually didn't dislike the season, or any season in fact. To him, they were all awesome in their own way. It wasn't their fault he couldn't stand the cold as well as most people so why should he favor one season over another for that reason?
Seth wriggled around in his marshmallow-like winter clothing, eventually situating his tail inside his coat so he wouldn't topple out if they hit a bump or two. The long tail was great at displacing weight and stabilizing him without being too uncomfortable. Yet another perk of being half snake. Flexibility certainly was a nice thing to have in such cold and with such small confines in his coat. At least his arms were no longer trying to occupy the same small space as his tail and the rest of his torso.
"Th' snow's soft?" he asked softly, glancing at Damon for his response. The nod was all he needed to see. Scooting closer to Nina the naga wrapped his arms as much as he could around the older girl. "Go go go!" Seth giggled, urging her and the sled to start their rapid descent down the hill. Speed never bothered him much after being dragged around on Ily's shoulders at high speeds. The thought of crashing or falling was a scary thought, yes, but the velocity itself didn't scare him much.
