I didn't know what category this would fall under, so this was my closest guess... sweatdrop But this is interesting! I found a site that analyzes your writing and tells you what famous writer/journalist you most resemble!

Give it a try, and post your results here! Enter your latest chunk of writing (it needs a few paragraphs to be accurate) and see what you come up with! I'll go first.

I entered my first post for Freefall Elsewhere and got Gertrude Stein.

Quote:
Judy Grahn lists the following principles behind Stein's work: 1) Commonality, 2) Essence, 3) Value, 4) Grounding the Continuous present, 5) Play, and 6) Transformation

(Oh, wait I believe I found it...iwl.me correct?)

I submitted a fantasy piece and I came up with Vladmir Nabokov (author of Lolita).

I've been told I write like Jane Austin. I write horror. I take that to be a good notion.

I'd love to see this site, too. smile

i tend to write and speak alot like shakespeare. i try to stick to modern english the best to my abilities, but sometimes all my friends are like Huh? i laugh and rephrase. im not total shakespeare, but i use words and phrasing that my peers dont understand together. however the site did not tell me that. i will write a chunk and stick it in.

I find it hilarious that that site told me I write like James Joyce because I absolutely can't stand him.

I sumbitted some of my novel-in-progress. I got Chuck Palahniuk, the guy who wrote Fight Club. Weird, I've only seen parts of the movie based on the book.

I was actually trying more to emulate Julia Alvarez.

Well people always tell me that I am the next Stephen King, because some of my stories are very dark. I enjoy Stephen King novels.

However, when I took this test on this site above my result shocked me. I received the author Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the Twilight series. sweatdrop I have never liked Twilight, so I'm wondering if this test is legitimate or if its simply a joke.

I don't try to imitate other writers. I tend to write short stories and poetry about topics that don't usually get brought up in writing. I like to write about things that people don't like to share, and these things tend to be very dark. However, they are not dark in a Stephenie Meyer sense.

I write like Agatha Chirtie, a British crime novelist. Hey, she was knighted, cool.

James Joyce is an Irish novelist/poet.

Cory Doctorow is a Canadia blogger/journalist/sci-fi writer.
