Here's why: Maserati BiturboBMW 530iMToyota SupraMercedes 560SECI think you get the picture. Here's a big '******** you' to Obama for killing perfectly good cars. If the program starts up again I have a right mind to go stealing the CFC cars and giving them to people who ACTUALLY deserve them.

I'd be game for that. We'd be well known robber bandits. Like the Robin Hoods of modern day.

And considering that the cars in question are pretty much refuse to everybody else, it's not like anyone will miss them, outside of a bunch of nonsense Capitalist red tape.

I think it was a good idea actually. Except that the destroyed the cars that were traded in so that they could not be recycled.

Levis Pennae I think it was a good idea actually. Except that the destroyed the cars that were traded in so that they could not be recycled. Even if it was a good idea, there were still far too many idiots and the plan in general was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too lenient on what constituted a 'clunker.' ********, people were bringing in less-than-a-decade-old cars just because they wanted something newer, as though getting something brand new when they had something decent and paid for is a good idea. It should be common sense that making a payment for yourself when you already have a good car, no matter HOW efficient that car is, will be a really stupid move on your part, because you'll never, EVER see the savings from that so-called 'efficiency' in your ******** lifetime. It's unnecessary on SO many levels. Either way, CJ made a really smart statement regarding that; take the nice cars and sell them at government auctions so people who ACTUALLY deserve those cars can enjoy them. The government gets paid (as if they need any more money) and everybody is happy.

I think you're forgetting that the "Cash for Clunkers" program was originally meant to be a stimulus package for the car industry, so it didn't really matter if it was 'green' really. And now that I'm thinking about it it was only given a green label because that is what is in fashion.

Right. One of Obama's stimulus packages. Like everything else he does, just throwing money at the problem instead of coming up with steps to actually SOLVE the problem.
But that's a different topic altogether. You can't deny the people who turned in those cars are idiots, regardless of what you may think of the program, or what I may think of the program.

Just thought I would mention one quick thing, um, GI's getting rid of less-than-a-decade-old cars to get something new to modify was a large part of the lead sled and custom cruiser moment. Just sayin, dog.

I still don't think that justifies giving a perfectly good BMW, Maserati or Mercedes to Cash for Clunkers.

Hence the reason either Cash for Clunkers should never surface again, or they should change the stipulations.
