It was a decidely disgruntled Negaverse Lieutenant who looked down at the collapsed body of her latest victim. At least this time she hadn't had a book thrown at her face or had her target become a senshi. All the same though, she wasn't getting quite the thrill out of these energy hunts as she had when she'd been hunting starseeds for Charonite.

The petite officer stared down at the old woman who's energy she'd stolen and thought. She hadn't had a starseed pulse in her fingers for so long... Surely it couldn't hurt to take this woman's? She was elderly and as far as Bixbyite could ascertain, unlikely to have relatives who would make a fuss if she vanished. And she was unconscious, so it shouldn't hurt quite as badly...

The temptation was too great. Bixbyite knelt beside the woman and reached into her chest, fingers seeking a starseed.

Themis hadn't arrived quickly enough to prevent Bixbyite from doing her work, but he'd landed on that perticular rooftoop just in time to see her finish her energy collection.

So it was true then. There had been sayings among the senshi, rumors that the negaverse hadn't sorely been taking starseeds anymore. What he'd seen a flash of definitively wasn't a starseed, that much he was certain, even though he'd only saw one once. Whatever this was felt different - in fact, he had felt it from his perch.

It was when she moved to take the starseed that Themis acted. Some senshi entered in boasting about love and justice. Some might even try to reason with the agent, but this one dropped from the rooftop, a blur of pale colors among so much black, and tried to take her by surprise - he reached to punch her stomach, hoping that she'd let go this way, and hoping to surprise her.

Questing fingertips stopped just short of their goal as Bixbyite's head came up, eyes narrowing as she scanned her surrounding. She narrowly missed being punched by scant inches as years of dance training came through and allowed her to duck and twist out of the way. She was surprised all right. And annoyed. Well, she thought as she crouched and faced the tall boy who attacked her, at least this time I got the energy.

Studying the boy, she came to the conclusion that he had to be a senshi. Well. This was inconvenient.

"Couldn't have waited to appear for just a couple more minutes, could you," she asked with a faint hint of bitterness to her voice.

And that was a miss. The short-haired girl darted out of the way quickly, and he nearly stumbled as a result. Caught her off-guard, yes - caught her unaware, nope, not at all.

He used his momentum to turn himself to face her, not too keen on leaving his back open to a negaverse agent. Short, quick reflexes - this could prove to be something else. Youma were dumb. Youma were easy.

This girl looked like neither, to be honest. He figured they could not afford to be neither and survive, which was more or less right.

Her annoyance was amusing, though - Themis was not a man who usually got a kick out of anyone's misfortune, but honestly, he felt entitled to do so at the moment. If he pissed her off, maybe he'll get her talking. "Of course not." He said in the most cheerful tone he could muster, and then charged her again, aiming to punch in the upper chest this time.

Bright aquamarine eyes narrowed at the cheerful voice. She knew this tactic. She'd used it often enough herself. Distraction, taunting, these were weapons she was familiar with. Therefore it wasn't much of a shock when he charged her again. She managed to twirl partially out of the way, but not enough to keep her arm from being hit. As a painful numbness spread from her shoulder to her elbow, she cursed under her breath. So much for staying out of the way. Still, she wasn't helpless by a long shot.

The tiny lieutenant had noted the glasses the senshi wore. Now how much he needed those glasses to see, she couldn't be sure, but if she could knock them from his face... or better yet, break them, it would give her better odds in this fight.

Artfully stumbling, she went down on one knee, doubling up and clutching at her injured arm, feigning pain. And as she was doubled up, her free hand was already summoning her ribbon. Her ribbon that had a lovely, hard handle. Grinning tightly, she waited patiently. All she needed was for him to get close enough to give her a clear shot at those glasses.

She wasn't attacking him. This made Themis instantaneously suspicious, even though he had just landed a hit. It hadn't been where he'd planned it to be, but it was a hit nonetheless, and it gave him a hint of her reaction time, and how fast he needed to be in return. It had been a good one, judging by her reaction - he had no idea that she was actually faking most of the pain.

But she hadn't made any move toward him, in spite of summoning her weapon. He had no idea what she was planning, and the eyes behind those glasses narrowed slightly.

He didn't charge her again - instead, he remained just where he was, rose one arm in the air, and called out his attack. If she didn't run out of the area of effect quickly enough to dodge it, then maybe he would have a chance to catch her off-guard. Not that he knew, since this was the first time he was attempting his attack against a negaverse agent.

Well, well, well. This one was smarter than she'd originally given him credit for. If he wouldn't play nice and come to her, she'd go to him. Muscles tensing, she waited a split second longer. And when she heard him yell his silly attack phrase (honestly, did all senshi have to say such moronic things in order to do anything?), she leapt into the air. That was one good thing about the Negaverse, she thought. She could always jump and get out of immediate trouble.

Once she judged herself high enough, she grabbed the ribbon end of her weapon and held onto it as she whipped out the handle end, aimed directly for the boy's face.

And on that day, Themis learned something very important.

His attack could, in fact, be jumped over if one timed it just right.

Bixbiyte had, in fact, timed it just right, in a move he hadn't quite anticipated. His lips pinned into a thin line - no, the short agent would not get the pleasure of hearing the string of curses that was going though his mind at the moment.

He moved - putting a pre-emptive end to his attack - to try to dodge, but it wasn't enough - he'd frozen just a second too long. He ate the handle of her ribbon right on, and much to her satisfaction, the glasses went flying. Where ? Who the hell knew, with how dark it was.

Really ? Really ? That was a little sad - through, unfortunarely for Bixbiyte, she was about to figure out that Themis' near-sight wasn't the one he required glasses for - he moved to grap her and hopefully throw her staight in a nearby brick wall.

YES! Bixbyite felt a warm glow of satisfaction as her plan worked and sent those glasses flying off into the dark. Maybe, if she got very lucky, he'd step on them in his hunt and shatter them. Her sense of smug triumph, however, was short lived as she came down and felt hands grip her legs and throw her into a wall.

Her head and back made contact with the brick and she slid down the wall in a pained daze, sitting still as she tried to blink back stars and hazy darkness. While she was reasonably sure that nothing was broken, she also knew that the moment she went to move, it would hurt. Still, she'd seen senshi keep trying to fight after recieving worse. And she refused to let the senshi be better than her in that regard.

With a strange, whimpering grunt, she slowly got back to her feet and wobbled slightly. Putting a steadying hand against the wall, she closed her eyes a moment to help control the dizziness and straightened her back. After a moment, she wondered if she shouldn't just call this a night and try to get out of there. But pride wouldn't let her back out of a fight like this. Instead, she simply grunted again and spoke in a strangely calm voice.

"Not bad, senshi. Not bad at all."

This had been a good reaction and a bad reaction. Good because it's obviously harmed her. Bad because at the distance he'd flung her, she was a blur of black and peach, mostly.

Still, just like her, he refused to let it end like this. She was perhaps the first to go for something like this, but there was no way in hell she was gonna be the last. He needed to learn how to fight like this.

"Not bad at all." He said back at her, through was he agreeing to her statement or returning the compliment to her ? His face was stone neutral, lips still pulled into a tight line. It was hard to tell.

This was all the time that Bixbiyte would get to recover, because he was coming for her again. It wasn't hard to home in on a target that wasn't moving, and he needed to keep her close if he didn't want to lose her completely in the darkness. The mean of hiding that he used so much himself was now very lightly to be used against him.

Hurt as she was, Bixbyite could still move as she pushed herself away from the wall and forced herself to half-run from the wall. She wanted to stay far away from the senshi. At least until she got her breath back. So, for now, that meant moving and trying to keep a bit of distance between them until she could figure out what to do.

As she moved, she assessed her injuries. Nothing broken, thank goodness. But oh, she'd be bruised in the morning! And a lot of that bruising would be to bone and muscle. Not the best thing to have happen to a dancer. Ah well.

Now how to slow this senshi up, or even better, pay him in kind for the pain he'd given her?

She was trying to keep him at a distance, this much was obvious - though he thought it was to take advantage of the situation, and not to catch her breath.

Though, Themis now had to think of a way to take advantage of his own situation - he'd done some hurt, and that much was evident, and he needed to act before she could recover. Surprising her with his attack would have worked nicely, but it wasn't all that easy when one had to call out said attack.

They passed an alleyway, and he kicked a metal trashcan in her direction - maybe this would be enough to slow her down ?

Bixbyite was doing more than slowing down. She was carefully and quietly backtracking, sticking to the darkest shadows when she could, and all to avoid some stupid senshi who wasn't that stupid. All thoughts of grabbing a starseed were forgotten, all the tiny lieutenant wanted was to get out of there, go home and nurse her injuries. But she had to make sure that the senshi couldn't attack her again first.

The only problem was, she wasn't entirely sure how to accomplish this. She needed to completely blind him, if only for a few moments. Knocking him out would be better, but right now, she'd settle for simple blindness. Her eyes fell on the mushy snow that lingered in some of the deeper shadows. And with a grin, Bixbyite was gathering the stuff into her hands, making a large, drippy snowball.

She stepped out of the shadows a tiny bit and whistled shrilly. With luck, he'd turn, she'd fire off the snowball, it would hit him in the face and blind him for a moment, she would run home. Simple. And if she was lucky, things would remain that simple.

Her strategy was rather effective in this case - her mostly black uniform paired with his limited vision made that easier. He heard the trashcan hit something, but it didn't look like it had hit the target he'd meant to hit.

It wasn't so much that the whistle caught his attention - as would be proved by the fact he'd been about to throw a stray brick in her general direction - but the timing was right, the snowball hit him square in the face, and the brick went off-tilted to hit something that definitively wasn't Bixbiyte.

Themis wasn't a stranger to snowballs in the face, but snowball straight in the eyes with no glasses to take most of the blow was something else.

It wasn't pleasant, not at all. He went to brush it off with his coat sleeve, but those were precious seconds wasted. Seconds that the short lieutenant would probably make good use of at this point.

Grinning wearily, Bixbyite thanked whatever benevolent diety who watched over tiny Negaverse agents that her aim had been good. Then, she made good use of her time and hurried away as quickly as she could manage with her sore and twitchy back. But before she was entirely away, she caught sight of a tiny bit of black rim sitting in the snow. The senshi's glasses.

Well, it couldn't hurt for her to make some small gesture of kindness. Scooping them up, she set them where he would hopefully find them and then whistled again to get his attention moving in the general direction of his eyewear. Good deed for the day completed, she jumped before he could attack her again and just barely made it to the roof. From there, it was only a couple of leaps and a brisk jog back to her bed. And she, quite frankly, intended to spend the next few days in bed popping aspirin.

There would be other days to fight that senshi, she thought. It wouldn't do to lose one of the few smart opponents she'd ever faced. Life would get too dull that way.
